I've been smoke free for just over a year now!! A year ago I decided to try a Volcano brand ecig after: 1) having tried to quit smoking unsuccessfully twice in the past with a Blu cig-a-like. 2) Having tried all other form of "stop smoking" products. and 3) A friend quit smoking using a Volcano Magma. I can say the e-cig works well, helped me quit in a week, and has helped me stay off them for just over a year. My personal opinion.... it is unlikely a cig-a-like will work to help anyone who is more than a "casual or bar smoker" quit smoking permanently. Also in my opinion, that it why big tobacco backs cig-a-likes.

thats very interesting , your thoughts on why big bacco supports cigalikes . well i should say i totally agree rather than just interesting .

my story is odd , i was a one pack a day till i got hurt , which kind of immobilized me . i switched to a roll your own method and rocketed up to four packs a day over a few years . in the past i have tried quitting a half dozen times up to 9 months , min three on those attempts . i bought a blue as we had concert tickets to a looong show and it seemed to work . my doctor had been pestering me to quit and mentioned using e-cig so ... so i set the date and did it .

starting off with a cigalike a mach ten which i believe is phillip morris was like torture . i literally flipped out after 12 hours , i had to have a smoke .

when i got a ce4/ego battery , i was able to quit that day . upgrading to protanks and then a nautilus was extremely helpful , finding a juice i enjoyed the flavor was huge too . THAT was a matter of going to a few local brick and mortars . if i would be able to go back , man i wish i would have had a protank / good battery / good juice from day one , i just didn't know .... that would have saved me a ton of agony . at this point i am down to 3gm nic , after almost three months, i have bought some nicer stuff , i am diying juice but i honestly plan to stop vaping next year . that is my goal anyway . i feel i would be able to reduce the nic and eventually stop vaping but if i loose it for some reason , rather than buying a pack of cigs i could always just vape a little zero nic or even 3 mg if i really wanted to be a brat and throw a tantrum . its funny though , someone i know tried to quit , they got it in their head they would use the mach ten as this person worships marlboro and all things red . . . . guess what happened . i invited this person over to try my rigs / juice but ... this person chooses to not do that as they have mental issues . eff em . lol.

30 years I smoked and was at about (or slightly above) 2 packs a day. A cig-a-like got me started (greensmoke) and a GOOD one got me off tobacco initially (eRoll)... Then a good PV kept me off.

I was also off nicotine completely very quickly. Within a month or so.

Now I vape because I enjoy it, but can easily go without if I need to. [emoji4]

For vapers who’ve quit smoking: Was your attempt using e-cigarette products effective for smoking cessation?
For me it was very effective I haven't smoked a cig since the day I started vaping with my halo triton that was my starting vape I've since gotten a provari and use it. I gave my provari to my bestie and she has also quit smoking with it. The only other time I've ever sent w/o smoking was when I was pregnant and after I had my son I started back. Vaping had been a life changer for me. I would recommend any smoker to try it. [emoji106]

I am proud to say it works for me. I've only been vaping for a couple of weeks now, but I have no cravings and no desire to light up. I started with a gas station e-cig for the first week, It wasn't great, but it helped me cut down my 2 pad habit to about 1 pad. I got the EVOD starter kit and the first 3 days I smoke 3 analogs, not so much because I wanted one, but my goal was to cut down, not quit. Day 3 was 2 analogs, day 4 was only one and day 5, none. I used to smoke 2 packs a day for over 20 years and now I don't crave them at all, Vaping has saved me and I am so glad I found this site to help me in my journey. fwiw, I still keep my last pack near my chair, with the date written on the bottom of it that I opened it. The date is 10/30/2014. There are still 7 in there tempting me, and 2 full packs here on my desk left over from the last carton I bought. I wont smoke them because I dont want them, not interested at all. Its such a great feeling.
I still have a full unopened pack from my last carton as well with no craving to even touch em it is a great feeling!!

I smoked for 43 PAD years.
Bought a ego 650, Carto tank, and a bottle of USA Favorite juice.
No cigs since.
At 30 days I gathered up 3 1/2 cartons from the freezer, house, cars, and briefcase and gave them away along with an ego tank and juice for each to my BIL and SIL.
They converted to e-cigs and gave the cigs I gave them and their stash to still smoking friends.

In just over a month, I will be Cig-Free for 2 years. My SIL and BIL have about 2 months to go for their 2 years.

Smoked for 45 years, 2.5 PAD. Tried patches, cold turkey, Welbutrin, etc., and nothing worked. Tried a cig-a-like and thought it was awful, but interested me enough to get me to look for a better alternative. Found an Ego-C twist type battery and Kanger mini Protank 2-type tank with unflavored juice and slowly transitioned (probably could have done it faster, but I loved smoking and really didn't want to quit and was afraid of not being able to succeed) over the course of a month to full-time use of my e-cig. And then I discovered the wonderful world of juice flavors! There was no going back - seven months now. I still occasionally get bad cravings for a cigarette and switch to a WTA for a tank and that does the trick. I am so grateful to e-cigs! And this board - the support and information here has made all the difference for me. Thank you all!

Smoked for over 3 decades... enjoyed it and didn't want to quit until health starting going bad. Still didn't REALLY want to quit, but knew I should.

Severe allergic reactions to chemicals in over-the-counter cigs made me start rolling my own. Recently started having issues with the tubes - tried several brands, but they were all causing allergic reactions. And no, it wasn't me - I found some older tubes (same brands) in my closet and they were fine. They had started adding something to the tubes, or changed the glue, or something. I can't understand an industry that apparently WANTS to kill its customers.

Anyway that led me to vaping. Grudgingly. I wanted to smoke! But by the 2nd day, I knew I could do it - vaping is awesome!

BTW - I'd love to see this question in a real poll so we can see the numbers. I read somewhere that by the 4th month, vapers have either given up and gone back to smoking, or have quit smoking. I'd love to know how many actually quit cigs on their first try with vaping. I NEVER would have been able to quit smoking without having vaping available (I was about ready to start smoking a pipe when I decided to try vaping instead - when's the last time you saw an old lady smoke a pipe LOL).
