They used to teach us to put two spaces after a period, now it's one.

You must be young. When I went to school we had to still write everything so there was no such thing as two "spaces" after a period. Then again since I have left handed tendencies but was forced to write right handed, my writing was atrocious. My teachers were just happy if they could read what I wrote at all. On the upside I am now mostly ambidextrous.

When I was a gamer some of the young kids used to confuse me. I was a math wiz, -, +, x and / were my basic math symbols. They seem to have been replaced with computers, I guess someone had to figure out something to do with, #, ^ and * besides swearing in cartoons.

+, -, and / still apply. the x was replaced with * due to programming, not gaming. When writing code, letters were handled as variables. So the x had to be reassigned. # denotes a number and ^ denotes and exponent.

I still put two spaces after a period, but the stupid internet keeps removing them.

Where I used to work, we had a mechanical engineer that hated it when we would use spaces incorrectly in trouble reports, he even wrote us a letter on the issue. That was a big mistake, from then on we would double space between every word. Never heard from him again about it.

Let us all make a toast to the OP!

Every word of his ill-written and clumsily-worded premise proven totally false, yet his thread rises like a Phoenix from the ash heap of his feeble attempt at language superiority. Powered by the imaginations of lowly serfs! You have taken his final orders to the thread of "Carry on" to unforeseen and dizzying heights. Vape on.
