Started vaping June 28, 2012 so I am coming up on seven years. Started on a Janty 510 Beginner's kit.
At that time, the discussions on the ECF revolved around e-liquids. There were mostly ProVari, REOS, and a new device called an eGo VV. Considered a "game changer" at the time, because it was an affordable Variable Volt device. Mrs.T's Bakery, Mt. Baker Vapor, Clouds of Vapor, Copper Creek, Halo, Backwoods Brew, AltCig and Heather's Heavenly Vapes were some of the more popular e-liquid vendors.
Things have changed. Cheaper, poorly made higher voltage mods flooded the market. Everybody and their brother started making e-liquids. Younger people began vaping. What was once considered a novel idea for chronic smokers became more of a fad. Restaurants and other public paces began to disapprove of vaping. And our beloved Gub'ment continues nosing it's way into Vaping.
I have more Mods than I need, 3 gallons of VG, a gallon of PG, and 3 liters of nicotine. Plus about 80 DIY flavors. I mostly extract tobacco flavors from pipe tobacco these days, so I might need to order some more PG.
Originally vaping was a plan to quit smoking. But I enjoy the hobby aspect of it. No plans to quit now.

Started vaping Nine Years ago.

Just passed the Seven Year mark smoke free.

Watts went up after the first Two Years, upon getting into building and better equipment, so did my juice usage.

Watts went down after Year Four or Five.

Currently vaping at 7-8 Watts, mostly unflavored, 12mg/ml, 4-6ml pd.

My health has improved throughout.

No plans to quit.

Haven't had a smoke in over 8 years due to vaping...my health has improved dramatically, truly amazing....besides that and saving a few bucks, not much has changed, not even my gear really. I'm basically vaping the same type of vape I started with, rebuildable mtl vaping , same wattage, nic, and consumption. Plan on vaping for a long time and would never ever go back to smoking, it literally makes my stomach turn

Have been vaping a long while now - really can't remember how long since my last cigarette. I intend to vape for as long as i want and feel no need to think about quiting vaping.
Looking at my stockpile i would think that i should be ok 'til around 2050. Won't stop me buying more stuff though *sigh*...

I quit smoking 7 years ago, thanks to vaping. I don't plan to stop vaping, because I'm a nicotine addict and I enjoy vaping. Nicotine use is not particularly harmful, similar to using caffeine. It's the smoke in cigarettes that is harmful and causes bad health effects.

Summer 2011 with me. Could only get stuff online then, ironic now there's vape shops even in villages over here now. Gave up smoking overnight, nasty little cartomisers by today's standards but hey - it worked. Actually didn't get into refillables and different flavours for a good 4 years or so.

I enjoy vaping a lot but plan to cut down in the long term as I do think I'm maybe a bit too dependant on it...

I've been vaping just a little over 5 years.

What has changed has been the type of device I use (no longer using an ego but have moved on to more advanced devices) and the fact I no longer use nicotine.

I plan on vaping as long as I need to in order to stay away from cigarettes, and as long as I find some pleasure in it.

I have quit vaping three times, the first time I went right back to smoking. The second and third time I didn't return to smoking but needed to return to vaping in order to stop myself from breaking down and smoking..

I don't vape as much as I used to, but I'm enjoying it and through some health issues and social situations it's keeping me from picking up a cigarette again, so I am less willing at the moment to try quitting again.

I am, for now, just happy in this place..light vaping zero nic..

I just realised I think it's been 5 years for me since the beginning of June, pretty sure about that. In fact of course it is because I wrote than on my profile. Guess I didn't realise how significant that is. Maybe it's 6.

So what's changed? Quite a bit, I don't have the health issues I once did when I smoked, I feel better, my clothes no longer reek of smoke. But I have no interest in giving up vaping because I enjoy it too much. Started on 12mg nicotine and now I mainly only vape 3mg.

Gone through a whole bunch of vaping styles. Really had to use RDA's with mechs to quit, still have fond memories of my old Veritas RDA clone, that thing probably saved me from ruining my health. Done sub ohm tanks but got bored of them, occasionally enjoy a restricted direct to lung draw and still vape my RDA's once in a while but MTL is my favourite way to vape.

Only thing that has bugged me about vaping in recent years is the EU and their stupid 2ml tank capacity restriction. So I'm glad I have a lot of classic RTA's with a large capacity and I still enjoy tracking down ones I didn't pick up at the time.

Funny thing about smoking for as long as I did is occasionally I will pick up my mod and then hunt around for my lighter. Strange how habits get so ingrained.

How do you store your VG? Fridge? Freezer? 3Gallons is about 8-9yrs for me

Are there any folks on here who quit smoking and are still vaping 5 or more years later? What has changed for you? How long do you plan to keep vaping?

I had my last smoke in January 2014, and I have no intentions of ever quitting vaping. I love it! My health has improved, I've saved money (despite building a very large stash of anything/everything I need to allow me to keep vaping for as long as I want to), and I much prefer the smell of my vapor to the smell of the nasty cigarettes I used to smoke for 42+ years!

Coming up on 8 yrs on july 25th. Fully stocked up on wire, nic, flavoring, cotton....everything I need until I’m in too old to complain. Anything I buy now is not out of necessity..... it would probably be considered gluttony. I couldn’t be happier or healthier.

I'm about 3 months from my 5 year milestone, but I'll chime in anyway. I had no intention to try and quit smoking again. In fact, I was in the smoke shop to get another pack of nails, but I decided to look over some of this 'e-cig' stuff they had on display. I ended up walking out with an eGo/CE4 and a free bottle of juice. I figured what the heck, I'm only out 17 bucks and some change, and totally assumed I would buy another pack of cigs in a few hours. I was wrong. I have no intention to stop vaping, and I'm pretty sure that I won't start smoking again if I do.
