Well, right now i have 2 Ithaka clones and a pisces clone in my possesion. Eagerly waiting a nemesis clone which got shipped on the 28th via China Post which means it will get here somewhere around 11/18...

Also waiting for FT to ship the kayfun clones, sadly i caved and bought a genuine one too

You're out of the family!

j/k. I think all of us have occasionally spent more than we wanted to on that one thing. I just spent $150 on an acrylic ePipeMod w/ matching Cherry vape Ming. Silly, but it makes me happy.

How are the Ithaka clones?

haha...you said "ding ding" :D

How many of you have USB bypass rigs for backups of your backups for your backups?

I don't have a straight passthrough, but I do have an MVP 2 that operates like one. I've thought about getting a straight passthrough but the fact that you really shouldn't use them from a computer USB port kinda kills it for me.

Meh...mine with a 5vdc unregulated and a 2.8Ω or higher coil rocks all day on my computers...and on my cigarette lighter 3.1A USB adapter...I use this little guy more than my Vamo.

If you are worried get a $3 wall wart to run it

Only problem with that is that they've been known to fry mobos. Not worth the risk for me. Wall wart would eliminate the convenience of having it plugged in right by my hand.

They're great for some people, but my MVP's got it handled in my case.

Both clones are amazing, i prefer the one i got from vaporbreak because of the brushed finish, but when it comes to machining they are the same.

PD, don't get me started on epipes, i want one from limelightmechanics but 124euro is a little bit too much, maybe for christmas :p

I made sure to buy clearos that have replaceable heads. Bought extra heads. Then I learned how to rebuild the heads with coils I buy pre-wrapped (less than 15 cents each). About the only thing that can really break is the plastic 'tank' part.

Also bought a couple of igo-L's - there's nothing much that can really break or go wrong with them.

Basic flavors are easy and super-cheap to replicate. Seriously, just buy base in your chosen strength/blend and add flavoring. We're not talking rocket science here.

One thing I'm enjoying is making my own NET (naturally extracted tobacco) flavorings. They're turning out really really well.

I think the biggest money-waster is chasing after bigger/better all the time.

Igo-Ls and Octopus RDAs are generally inexpensive and hold up very well.

Protank/evod/vivi nova heads can all be easily rebuilt.

Wicking material can be as cheap as a ball of cotton yarn or box of rolled cotton from wal mart for a nearly lifetimes supply at about $4. 100 ft of 28-32 gauge (your choice) kanthal can be got for $4-$8 from TEMCO on ebay again nearly a lifetimes supply.

Other than juice it is heads/atomizers that is the consistent recurring expense. Taking an afternoon and learning how to rebuild/build a coil can save a great deal of money long run.

Juice....DIY is really the single cheapest way to go and not nearly as difficult as it seems. I think when I ran the numbers on my DIY costs it is running me something like 12 cents per mL. Your costs will vary with supplier and nic level though.

I have 2 inexpensive mechs from fasttech. The K100 I would recommend the v3 Sentinel I would not (bottom button constantly unscrewing).

I know no one wants to hear about expensive devices but I would make an argument that buying one SOLID device that will last MIGHT in the long run save money. I won't recommend a specific one in deference to the OPs request. Just putting the thought out there for consideration.

I have 3 usb pass trus that I use often...1 is on my desktop...1 is on my laptop used and 1 is used in the car with a lighter adapter....they get used whenever I am near them. I also have a Legacy mech mod bought used and a VV WV box mod purchased in a co-op for much less than retail. My Ego (real and clones) and protanks(real) are from Fast tech. I do not skimp on batteries or chargers. I do not DIY yet but I do dry burn and recoil my heads. At this point all I need to buy is juice. 3 months in and I have broke even on what smokes would have cost me and I own 3 ego batteries, 3 pass trus, 4 protanks, 2 protank mini's , My Mech Mod the legacy, the box mod , 4 18650 batteries, 4 chargers (2 of each) 20 coils and over 300ml of juice I love. I have also passed some evods and smaller ego type batteries on to my father and daughter who also vape.

I am a cheapskate as my daughters will tell you I pinch a penny till Lincon cries. It may appear that I have spent a huge amount to get set up but I now have everything I should need for a long period of time except the occasional consumables like batteries, coils and eventually some basic DIY supplies for simple juices.....yes I will continue to buy some of my favorite boutique juices and indulge in a treat tank every evening but even with those costs my projected savings will be over $100 per month VS smoking.

Im with Myrany on this one.

to put a price on a bare minimum.

$25 mechanical mod and rda (k100 and x1) from [insert chinese gadget site].com, $5 100ft kanthal from amazon $5 cotton from local pharmacy or pocket some from a friends house. ~$30 for a decent battery/charger set from a reputable site. ~$65 for startup.

i have frivolous juice buying habits so cant suggest anything there. the fact that this is what you will most likely spend the most on id probably get into DIY too if i wasnt lazy.

I suppose it depends how cheap you want to go. I got an EVOD starter kit with two batteries, two cartomisers, a charger and five spare heads. It cost me less than £30 (I don't know what that is in dollars). I've since bought five more heads as backup and spent about £30 on liquids a total outlay of £67 in the two weeks since I started vaping and that will keep me going for quite a while.

I equate what I spend on vaping to what I would have spent on cigs and it's really minimal compared to the money I was throwing away. I'm not into DIY or rebuilding heads or anything like that, I just can't be bothered with it. It costs £6 for 5 spare heads which lasts me 5 to 6 weeks and that's less than the price of one packet of cigs.

Vaping really doesn't have to be expensive at all unless you absolutely have to try lots of mods, tanks etc. My only planned expenditure is a glass cartomiser, don't know which one yet, so I can try lots of flavours and continued costs of juices which isn't a lot.

I totally get how people see this as a hobby and spend lots of money on it and I'm fine with that I just don't feel the need for it at all. Well not yet at least.... :)

It is so much easier to be "thrifty" now more than ever. There are so much vendors for everything domestic and international. With all the different rebuildable atomizers, wire and wick suppliers, mod clones, DIY liquid the only thing that hinders you from saving money is not knowing where the deals are. Also from here and youtube there's a wealth of information on where to get the deals or how to pretty much make everything DIY.

Our flavoring comes from Hobby Lobby, Walmart, local cupcake store. The 100% VG comes from there too. I talked the local B&M into saving the returned cheap-o-mizer tanks. I salvaged enough wire and wick to determine rebuilding is not for me. Replacement o-ring kit was cheap at Harbor Freight. Plastic bottles are cheap from US Plastic. I also collect all the juice that the folks I work with order and don't like. So far we have been able to salvage about 100 ml of juice folks were going to toss. I have several dead ego style batteries that will be a winter repair project. If I can get them going I will vape those forward. It's really a hobby that doesn't have to cost an arm and a leg if you don't want it to.

I got a little carried away but trying to tone it down. I find myself having like 5 to 6 flavors going a day. I keep saying to myself when I smoked it was only one flavor but its soooo hard!

I am learning how to do rebuildables just to say I can do and someday if I have to do it. I found that rebuilding protank heads is really easy and it gives me something to do.

that's awesome....most of us don't have that option (not a slight). I'm always up for a deal tho, but I'm not a DIY'er.
just wanted to stop and drop my :2c:
:headbang:

Agreed.... that's why the buying the MVP 2 was a no brainer for me.... It came with everything you need to get started plus 2 juices for $54 shipped from Mt Baker. Now there are even better prices out there if you look hard enough.

If you really want to go cheap, you can just get a 510 with carts. That was one of my first ecigs. They work pretty good, but the batteries don't last long so you'll need a bunch of them. I used to get 30ml bottles of juice from Nhaler and one bottle would last me at least 2-3 weeks. Compared to the cost of analogs, that's just pennies a day!
weeks???? 30 ML last me 3-4 days
