I've been vaping nothing but my DIY peppermint juice for the past two years (yah, I know - booorrrring :p but I wasn't changing 'flavors' when I smoked ;) ).

Shortly after starting vaping, I started making a few mods (see some of the links in my sig); but for the past ~6 months have been using my Vamo (V2) - ~$28 from vaporbreak - with Panasonics bought from FT. I have my homemade mods as backups.

Evods/Davide Minis with rebuilt heads, the Vamo and my DIY peppermint seems to be my 'sweet spot' for the foreseeable future.

Love the Desktop Mod! Quick question, though. Why did you only do two 18650s? Looks like there'd have been space for at least four if you rotated them 90 degrees.

I budget myself to 30 bucks a month. So far I am probably around 40 a month. I DIY.... mainly because I couldn't find a shop where it tasted the same on a subsequent purchase. I figured why not do it myself. Now I have a different flavor every time I mix something new. If I don;'t like it.. add some of this (what is it?) heck who cares. Still vapes good.

I got my nemy clone last week. Head thread was borked, but the tanks I could get to fit worked nicely. I like the bottom button design. I am waiting for a response from them to see if a new head can be shipped out with my next order. I do use a smok kick in it.

I did buy my panny Pds from fasttech and nitecore 2 charger. I like the way they work and were 12 bucks. I purchased some AWs and for some reason like the panny's better. The AW get a tad warmer as they charge. Not sure what the deal. Maybe its a 350 vs 18650? Heck the hybrids could be safer than the LMRs with the HRL and NNP tech.

I take it as a personal mission now. Beginning of the year and dropping my budget to 20 bucks a months. Will see how it goes. I really don't see the lure of 200 mods. Considering this was a 30 year habit that I would crush the butts under my shoe. Too each their own.

I switched to the cheapest cigarettes from Salems years ago then to the mini cigars (brown cigarettes) when the government got too greedy and was spending less than $12 per week on my smokes so I really have to pinch pennies to get my vape costs below $50 per month. 90 days in and I'm no where near successful with that budget but vaping keeps me from smoking in the car which is worth much more to hubby & son--LOL!

I have been DIYing my own liquid for a month using Wizard Labs for the liquids and sample flavorings, Walmart for Watkins & McCormick for multipurpose flavorings. I triple check the labels to make sure there isn't anything really bad and only use the clear ones. I have saved all my EVOD & Protank heads and will begin rebuilding those soon. I only have 10-12 new coils and don't want to find out my rebuilding skills suck before I run out of good ones. I all ready own a multimeter, kanthal wire & cotton yarn so no extra expense there.

I also have a little 808 kit (generic version of Halo G6 or V2) for stealth vaping at work with 4 mini clearos. Anybody found rebuildable atomizers for those or a really cheap supplier?

I have 2 inexpensive mechs from fasttech. The K100 I would recommend the v3 Sentinel I would not (bottom button constantly unscrewing).

FWIW, I have the M16 mod, and it's got the same issue. Check out this post in the M16 discussion area at Fasttech.
A Solution: Loosening Fire Button: FastTech Forums

Low strength thread locking compound can also work if you're careful and apply it sparingly. Too much and you could accidentally insulate the button (I think... I'll have to disassemble it again to double check that statement...).

The two most expensive pieces of vape gear I own are the VAMO v2 kit I bought from FT that came with a nitecore i2 charger and two panasonic 18650s, and a joyetech ego twist I bought from a local B&M early on for about $35. I have a few rdas I bought for less than $7 each, a couple of aga-t2s one of which was bought used, a Rocket(kayfun clone) from FT, and a couple of mechs I got for $20 and $25. I don't DIY juice because I don't have the space and I have a toddler, but I buy juice that costs between $0.25-0.50 per ml. I'm set hardware wise until/unless I actually save up to buy what is IMO the ultimate apv, which I won't name, but it's a bottom feeder mech that is built like a rectangular tank.

Hadn't really planned on having batteries in it when I first thought of making it. But when I went with that box, I had to put something in the other 'slot'. When I've used it, I've used the AC adapter to power it. Plus at that time, I only had two 18650s :D.

Also waiting for FT to ship the kayfun clones, sadly i caved and bought a genuine one too

not a bad deal.....once you got both of them you can compare and make notes for all of us :D

Stateside nearly FT prices - Vices Electronic Cigarettes
Almost wonder if they have something to do with FT being in Miami and all...
As for juice I still can't beat Hangseng from Caterpillar Vapes - your e-liquid, e-cigarette kits,e-cigarette and vaping superstore and the good stuff from Best E Cigarette | Buy Electronic Cigarettes | E Cig Juice - MT Baker Vapor
I've actually been picking up some good mod deals on Craigslist lately but that all depends on the area you live in I guess. Just to share though, I picked up a Sigelei ZMax V3 telo, 1 18650 Efest, and charger for $50, not a bad deal.

It is so much easier to be "thrifty" now more than ever. There are so much vendors for everything domestic and international. With all the different rebuildable atomizers, wire and wick suppliers, mod clones, DIY liquid the only thing that hinders you from saving money is not knowing where the deals are. Also from here and youtube there's a wealth of information on where to get the deals or how to pretty much make everything DIY.

Yeah, the problem is a lack of quality control and materials.

Wow. I'm LOVING some of these comments. Getting me motivated to start DIY'ing again.

And... It's gone. LoL.

What do y'all think is the "Best Bang For Your Buck" setup right now? My vote's the MVP V2 with a few eVods.

Yeah, the MVP2 has to be THE budget mod of the year, for $40 you get everything you need sans juice. I payed 46 for the MVP1 months ago. If i had to recommend a topper it would be cartotanks, FT has pyrex tanks for $5(it's a pity the included cartos are bad tho)

Actually you fit more in with what I was initially intending. Not that it matters, of course. All of us cheap buggers need a place to post, but I'd love to hear from the modwhores on a budget that troll sites like FT for the newest cloned mod just as much as those that're sticking to a couple of eGo batteries and eVods with rebuilt heads.

Lol. I'm sticking to a couple ego batteries and evod with rebuilt heads. I finally ordered an MVP v2 after I saw it on sale for cheap. I scounge contests to try and get by on juice. I buy what I absolutely have to really except the MVP was more so I could be better satisfied with my vape. All in all I think I've spent maybe 100 since I started vaping again including the MVP and that's in maybe two or so. Compared to the 3-5 I would have had to figure out how to spend on cigarettes

I am so jealous that you can do this and be content. I really wish I could just sit with the gear I've got and not get whiplash over new shinies.

Lol I never said I was content I just know how to get by when I'm broke. I spend Allot of time window shopping looking at mods and tanks and juice and set ups I want but when u really have no choice you don't end up ordering it. After I get the MVP I think I'll be more satisfied with my vape but last time I vaped a budget wasn't as much of an issue I definetally miss it
