Some vanillas and custards contain trace amounts of acetoin and/or acetyl propionyl. Maybe you're getting the tickle from them. Checking the ingredient list of the ones you're using could confirm if they have those 2 in them. They might not be the cause, but also could be. Choosing the versions of those flavorings that don't contain them might help.

Could also be that the ones you're using may contain ethyl alcohol, and the harshness of it is tickling your throat. Giving your bottles a good shaking (to cause lots of bubbles) and then taking the tip and cap off the eliquids and letting them "breathe" overnight...would allow the bubbles to pop and the EA to evaporate off.

As others have mentioned though, using Vape Wizard or TFA Smooth in your eliquid may also help remove the harsh tones from your mix. TFA Smooth has worked wonders for me in a couple mixes in the past. I only used 1 drop in a 15mL tester bottle and later 2 drops in a 50mL bottle of a different eliquid...and it did the trick in each one.

That might be it. At first I thought it was because the juice had more PG (which I still don't like above 35 %) but then tried others with the same percent PG an was not bad so assuming it was a flavor ingredient. Ethyl alcohol... not an issue for me... I was actually taking small shots of vodka (as I often do when vaping other juices) so wouldn't have noticed it at all. I also have Purillum Sweet Tobacco (that I love) and it has a "nutty" flavor but doesn't bother me at all (I assume that is AP) so I am suspecting acetoin myself. The juice that bothered me the most was a "custard" (and had this "butterscotch" flavor) Other custards have not had this issue so still don't know.

Well...the flavoring that's often abbreviated "AP", that gives eliquid a "nutty" flavor...is Acetyl Pyrazine.

When you read that there are trace amounts of A & AP, or just 1 or the other, in buttery tasting flavorings, some creams, custards, and others....the "A" is Acetoin and that "AP" is Acetyl Propionyl.

About your butterscotch tasting eliquid - I know that TFA Butterscotch flavoring has both A & AP in it. However, I haven't checked on other brands of it, to know for sure about them.
