OK, I admit it...I've been lurking for several weeks:facepalm: so now it's time to start posting. I have not smoked in two weeks...been vaping for three and I'm amazed at my results and total lack of desire for a cigarette
I'm very happy with my riva 510, atomizers, cartridges, and cartomizers and the awesome flavors that I have tried. I've vaped to the point of having a sore tongue at times. Today, everything has no taste...except maybe a burnt quality to the different juices but no real flavor...Is it me? the atomizer? I know to keep the carts wet, I have dripped onto the atomizers to make sure they are wet...I'm using cleaned or new cartridges, can't figure out what is wrong...everything tastes pretty much the same and I am unable to discern the different flavors. Have I just overdone it? Any ideas?

Thank you for your reply...I'm using BWB malty toffee, waffle, and maple tobacco...they are 70/30 PG to VG and I love them all. I think this is a quality company and have a huge following on ECF...I'm wondering if I need to clean atomizers but in some post they say to only blow them out at night and let drain and between flavors...I'm beginning to think that it might be my tongue from vaping too much. I really want my buttery waffles today!

I don't know for sure about your particular taste problem, but one thing that is very commom
among vapers, is a strange occurence every so often, which is a lack of total taste to the
vape liquids! It has happened to me about 3 times in about 4 months. This just may be what
is happening as well.
Give it a couple days, change your regular flavor and hopefully all will be well in a couple days.

Thank you sam..so sweet flavors tend to gunk up the atomizers? OK, so boil them or use some kind of alcohol? Do they do the same with cartomizers?

Yeah, while it doesn't necessarily apply to every juice, the rule of thumb is that the sweeter or the darker a liquid is, the more frequently you'll need to clean atomizers.

There are lots of methods to clean attys on the forum, from simply boiling to bizarre techniques that look like voodoo rituals. I don't know what's most effective because I use cartomizers and toss them after a week or so. I'd personally rather spend $10 and get cartos to last a month than spend $5 on an atomizer and need to take the time to perform maintenance.

I've experienced the same thing....and the first time it happened after a couple or three weeks. Your taste buds are changing all the time...especially early on. Many people on this board have had those days when the juices that they just absolutely loved the day before became flat and tasteless. (It's not the juice....it's your taste buds, most likely.) Just vape through it and it'll turn around. Drink lots of water, and maybe change up juices for a day or two. Then when you go back to these that you have, they'll taste okay again. I think it's just all part of the process. I still have days every now and then (after 9 months of vaping) that just seem like nothing works. They go away. You might try changing/cleaning your atomizer. If you're using cartomizers, try a new one.

Thanks to all for the quick answers..I'll clean atomizers and keep on vaping...What a miracle this is...I have not been able to go a whole day without smoking for going on 40 years and I could only get down to about two or three while on chantix so only the people on this forum can appreciate the way I feel. I've even been able to lower the nicotine strength in this short of time so color me happy!!!

Congratulations on finally being able to quit. I know how you feel (we all do....lol). I smoked for over 40 years and could never even imagine a day without cigarettes. I finally just gave up trying to quit and decided I was just doomed to die a smoker. Then I discovered the e-cig, and it's a new, bright, hopeful world again. I've been doing it for 9 months now and have lowered my nicotine twice. I consider these things miracles. Honestly, how easy it was for me to quit! Even on those bad days (not bad for craving a cigarette, but bad in that the taste or the vapor seems to fail me) I can't imagine ever going back to nasty cigarettes. Welcome here....it IS about time you posted....this is a great community and a great support group. Anytime I get a little discouraged, I just read a few success stories here and I'm lifted back up. Stick around, we're sure glad to have you.

I had this happen just the other day. My tongue was kinda sore, similar to when I eat a roll of sweettarts. I lightly brushed my tongue and did a quick swish of mild mouthwash and it really helped both the soreness and the loss of flavor I was having. Also, I usually have 2 or 3 flavors going at once which I think helps in keeping them all "alive" :vapor:

You and I are going through the same experience with taste..I can fill a tank with juice and hate it right away and begin to enjoy it when it nears the bottom. I also lost the flavor and smell of one of my favorite juices once, when I used it on a new atomizer with I had cleaned beforehand. I believe that atomizer is probably burning to hot because I always get a metallic taste and smell from it

cookiebun,
I am elated and I mourn all the time and opportunities wasted (not to mention the money) smoking. It dominated my life...I would decline social invitations because I would rather sit home and smoke! I had the stupid idea that no one would notice or smell the quick trip out to grab a smoke, I would hunt out the smoke areas prior to going on a plane, etc. I hated feeling like a lower class citizen having to hover outside in the cold and wet. I coughed all the time and made up stories about colds and getting choked, throwing in a good sniff as evidence. First thing in the morning...last thing at night...often getting up at times for a few puffs. I was a slave with a capital S. I wouldnt go to the bathroom with out my pack of cigarettes and I had lighters stashed every conceivable place that I might have the urge. My home, cars and clothes reeked of stale smoke. I have damaged my health, my teeth, etc, etc, etc. I passed on this deadly habit to my son and endanged the lives of all that lived in my house. I hated myself, but I loved cigarettes. I made several half-hearted attempts at quitting with patches, gum and chantix but I guess that I just wasn't that motivated. The funny thing is that I order an e-cig out of curiosity...not so I could quit. I never thought that anything would simulate the actual feel and experience of actually smoking and so I continued and after about a week of vaping, my cigarette had no taste! So I said..WHAT The... and I didn't want it. I still don't. It's not even an act of will power.....it's a miracle of epic proportions....so yes it feels great to be free...Free at last, free at last, Thank God, I'm free at last. (Now where is my Riva and my BWB waffles?) Is there a twelve step program for Vapers?
Thanks to all for your answers and comments.

PS: I cleaned my atomizers last night and already, things are turning around :)

THAT is so sad, but, that is exactly the way i felt before ecigs.
i smoked for 53+ years. 3 packs a daty the last 6.
my wife ordered me a cig20 kit 3 weeks ago. I tried it to humor her and stop her nagging.

I HAVE'NT TOUCHED A CIGARETTE SINCE!

I ordered a go-go kit from nhailer and wow all day vaping on the same cartomizer and battery.
