Should I allow or adjust out the battery wobble? I've been leaving it wobbly so that I know both + and - contacts are disengaged, for my own piece of mind.

But is the wobble necessary? Should I adjust it so that the + contact is always in touch with the 510 screw?

Thanks!

It's best to keep things snug.

My locking ring has a tendency to set too hard when engaged, meaning that I unscrew the bottom when trying to unlock.

Since these threads do not conduct electricity, would it be OK to lube them with a tiny bit of Vaseline or 3-in-1?

Thanks!
-Johntodd

Yep. It will work perfectly. Wipe a very thin layer on the threads with a QTip. I'd use vasiline over 3in1 oil.

Now you need to try a Nemesis :)

I have 4 nemesis mods.
They fear the king.
They also sit unused.

Nemi's are thin, have crunchy buttons (that rice pin in the switch is awful).

The threads on the lock are so fine it takes 20+ turns to lock or unlock.

The King is better made, performs better, and has a better switch and lock.

Tell you what ... my next mech will be maybe in a few months. Everybody needs at least two.

So my next will be a "pretty" mech. I'm looking for a copper mech with various threaded trim rings. My idea is to force a patina on the big tube sections and keep the rings shiny. I'll use clear-coat to set everything once perfected.

Can anyone offer recs and pix? The Quality Rule and User-Fixable rules from my first post still apply.

THanks!

PS Still LOVING The King!

Oh, horse apples! Nemis are great. Ya spin the lock ring, not twist it. And the switch is just fine. Now, the Nemesis switch isn't godly, like a GP Paps, but the Paps clones are long gone so alas, I can't rec one to John unfortunately. Nothing wrong with having both.

I have 4.
Spin and spin and spin....and spin.
Lol

Two words: Rice pin.

Over complicated horn switch, tiny parts to wear and fail ( and they do).
Crunchy switch without magnets.

There are much better mechs available.

I'll give ya that, the rice pin can be a pain when you drop it!! I didn't like the Nemesis at first, but it grew on me big time. Kepler hybrid cap, and threw the top cap's contact screw in the switch. Now all 3 of my Nemies are in permanent rotation. I actually prefer the spring to magnets.

Not knocking the King 2 though because a) never used one and b) damn fine looking mech that is. Really gorgeous looking in brass IMO.

I'm currently debating the SS Centipede vs. brass King 2 as my next mech. Oh yeah, and now, the newly listed white SS Nemesis on FT hehe.

Heck yeah, if you want a copper tube you can force a patina on, the copper Pegasus is where it's at!

Warning though, this beast is all copper so if ya tighten the locking ring too hard it WILL get hopelessly stuck. I applied some Noalox to the lock ring threads to avoid that problem with mine.

No various rings or anything though, this one isn't sectional like a Nemesis or King, but a solid tube that only fits 18650.

Not sure if there are any with a copper body and SS switch though. Well aside from one of the SMPL clones on FT, but I can't comment on the quality of that.

Probably not as most want more conductivity in the switch and contacts.
You can always buy the same clone in copper and stainless and mix and match for cheap.
