I got you and dove in. A smoketech dc tank, cheap...easy...well, not easy. I got lucky on my first fill and loved you. Bought another before you emptied the first time. Then on refill you gave me fits. A flooded carto, a busted o-ring. I read, I watched videos, it looked like I might have been right...nothing stopped you from wrecking my juice.

Two tanks worth of parts and now you are one. I leak tested the bottom, then the top. I dried you out without removing that tested top or bottom. I slid my new carto SR in, used a syringe to get you close to 2/3 full...I'll settle for that if you work. You will sit quietly on my bathroom counter to prime the carto. You will NOT leak. I will slide the carto down and top off as much as I can with the syringe.

Then, I will use you while I search for a glass tank.

Gotta enjoy the tinkering...even if I want it easier. Thankfully the cartos kept me happy while I failed with the tank. I'm about $45 ahead compared to regular cigs and I have a lot of supplies. A couple tanks won't dent the budget. I am thinking of trying a pyrex since banana flavor rocks my world.

Once the delivery systems are worked out I will dabble with DIY. Then I will save so much that my backup will be another vv and my gf can have both my kgo batteries instead of just one (she has 808 backups) and I maybe can get her to kick the cigs fully also. I have a hard time when I smell and taste cigs on her, but I try really hard not to make her feel bad. It's not like I wasn't right there a month ago.

YAY!
You must be using thicker juice than I am. I use 70/30 ratio, and that works well with one hole.
Now that you and your tank are on speaking terms, it's time to try DIY, right?

I am using thick juice. Well, fairly. It's 50% VG.

And yes...my shopping list is up for comment in the DIY section already ;)

It's certainly been a learning experience for me. Not always certain exactly what I have learned, tho, lol.

I started out with a couple of the early SmokTech DCT tanks (the polycarbonate versions). One leaked juice inexplicably and the other tank's tube somehow distorted, it's diameter increasing enough that it also leaked. Both tanks got pitched.

I liked the idea of a tank on a APV for larger juice capacity, and really wanted to find one that worked. I wasn't willing to invest into a Phiniac yet as they were just getting started and $50 for a tank seemed out rageous. Since I had had a clearomizer melt with a certain juice, I researced about polycarbonate vs polypropyline materieals. SmokTech had started offering polypropyline tubes with the tank sets and I decided to give them another go because at least I could afford that.

It worked out well and I've ended up with several. Some work better than others, but they all work to varying degrees of satisfaction. I've experimented with pre-punched hole(s), self-punching, slotting, etc. What seems to work best for me is proper carto prepping and going from there in a conservative fashion as far as number of holes, etc. I'm considering going from dual coil cartos to XL single coils next. From what I've read, DC's don't actually kick in unless you are sending them 5v or more.

Oh, and I've started to build a collection of pyrex tanks now, too.

So Calif
I keep reading these tank stories and wondering why my tanks and cartos don't do all these bad things to me. Been using the Smoktech DCT's and dual coil LR cartos for months now. I have not lost a single tank, nothing leaks, cartos last a week or longer in the tank, I use them stock with the one prepunch, they don't flood and they do wick well with my 50/50 juice mix. I do use a tank tool to install new cartos and to fill, I have replaced one o ring that I dinged withe the edge of a carto before I got the tank tool. FWIW I also use Phiniacs, and use the same cartos in them as I do in the Smoktech DCT polycarbonate tanks. No leaks, no problems.

Maybe I was born in the year of the well behaved tank?

I hear you! Bought my first pyrex tank from Valley View Vapor without breaking the bank, and can't put it down. Here's the link:
Triple V Pyrex Tanks

A couple of the 7ml Triple V tanks were my first pyrex tanks. I've since replaced their silicone grommets with the delrin caps. They truly are nice looking tanks now. I've since gotten a couple of pyrex tanks from High Desert and a colored sand-blasted clear pyrex tube from Phiniac that I put on a Bella tank.

Pyrex is the best solution if you can afford it. If not, I gotta recommend the polypropylene SmokTech DCT tanks.

I started with ST tanks an have been using since I started vaping had tee that the caps wouldn't stay on and well fixed that with a lighter and a little ingenuity. But yes I am sick of them sliding around and well honeslty I would like to be able to use something more than ST cartos. And in comes phiniac. Problem solved. Company amazing to work with and can get something custom made to your liking.

Btw that write up cracked me up like no other.

Does anyone know of a place that you can just buy the end caps for the 5ml tanks? I lost a chrome top cap and hate to just throw the rest of the tank away.
It might help to know what tank model or brand your tank is. Where did you buy it? These things are not really standardized as to their dimensions. There are vendors that sell end caps for the tanks they sell, but until we know more we can't really help you.

Sorry I thought we were just talking about the Smoktech DCT tanks. I should have specified anyway.
