The toughest part of traveling for me, as a vaper, is deciding what to take.
I'll be taking my first trip as a vaper 6/17 and be facing this situation myself. :thumb: Oh a whole week of waking up as a family  ... with a big kid to send the littles out with so mom and dad can sleep some more.

you could just bring one setup and juice...then when that one "breaks", go to one of the vape shops and get some new ones. :)
I checked. Since this is Colorado, there are lots of "smoke" shops, but very few vape shops. Nearest one is about 90 miles...

some days it's really tempting to just tell my 4 year to watch her little brother....

too early for that? lol

congrats on the vacation! I'm jealous! we're thinking about going somewhere this fall with the WHOLE family. tough to get schedules arranged though.

@Shawn Hoefer, can I please beg for some guidance? I got sucked into buying the NABUKI, this will be my first and likely last mech. Please offer safety and proper care info or a site where I can learn. Thank you in advance!!!!
Pm me... unless everyone chimes in and wants the info...

HOH from Zen, not sure how to link. It's a mech with a proprietary connection to a KABUKI. www.zenfactoryoutlet.com
Well, that explains it... hmmm... there are not a lot of pics of the device out there. I hate to say it, but I already don't like it.

That's not a slam on Zen or House of Hybrid, but a general dislike of running drop-in-coil tanks on mechs. There's no way of knowing the condition of the coil when it's screwed in. Although it's rather rare, shorted coils do happen.

That's ok, though, as Zen makes a 510 top for the tube...
Z2 510 Connectors
I'd make sure I got that ASAP. Yeah, it makes it impossible to use the included Kabuki, but better safe than sorry, I'd think.

Alternately, get an autoranging multimeter (not ohm meter), and test each coil, every time a new coil is installed. An multimeter is needed as there are no Z2 ohm readers. Simply make contact with the black and red multimeter leads to the center pin and body of the tank (not the coil... in case the shorting occurs when the coil is installed) after every coil installation.

As far as general mech mod maintenance... keep it clean! I use alcohol to clean all the threads and contacts at every other build. I also use a polishing cloth on brass and copper connections, but as this uses gold plated connections and and stainless steel, it's not quite as big an issue. If the threads ever feel crunchy, a thin coat of dielectric grease (I apply with a q-tip l, and wipe off excess) can help.

I could find no pics of the switch assembly, but what I did find indicates to me that it's a very simple switch. Reminds me of the switch in my old iHybrid Trinity. There should be no issues at the resistances you'll likely be running. There does appear to be a lock ring. Learn it, love it, use it. Never set down or pocket a mech without locking it (if there's a locking ring).

Since the mod in question only uses an 18490/18500, you're gonna wanna get the best. According to Mooch that would be either the Basen Black or the Efest Metallic Purple. Either way, you'll likely be safe down to .4 ohms. However, those cells are also capped around 1000 mAh... the same lifespan an eGo 1000 had. Keep that in mind...

I'm glad you got a mech. I think every vaper should learn to use and own at least one. Even if you hate it, it will always be there, and, with proper care, functional.

Me too. No Internet or phones for the last 2 days due to Sprint "upgrading" our tower. Hubby drove into town (different tower) to call and find out what the problem was. We have Sprint because when we moved here it was the only service that worked. Grandfathered into unlimited data and not worth loosing that for different service. We tether our phones for computer Internet. Not the fastest, but what is available where we live.

Thank you Shawn, when you say multimeter, is that the type used to check for shorts in the house electrics? If so, that I have. I will be using 1.6 or 1.8 ohm bvc coils. How will they work on a mech? Too hot? Need lower? You know it's the kabuki that sold me! So I will use extreme caution, during use and storage! Thank you so very much for your educated help. Z

I build to temp... my goal is right around .24 W/mm^2. That feels about like 440F on a DNA200 in TC mode. That's all gobbledygook, but it provides a frame of reference...

With a fresh cell, assuming very little voltage drop, a 1.6 Ohm coil will yield about .25 W/mm^2, and decline to around .19 W/mm^2 at the battery's nominal 3.7 V. The vape will be noticeably cool at .14 W/mm^2 when the cell needs to go on the charger at 3.2 V. The numbers with the 1.8 Ohm coil are a little lower, starting at .19 W/mm^2 and ending at .11 W/mm^2. I'd stick with the 1.6 Ohm coils, personally... Your wattage range will be from a peak of 11 down to around 6.5 Watts with the 1.6 Ohm coil.

It occured to me after I hit send that a Coil Master 521Tab could be used to test as it comes with test leads. The results are less than stellar, but it will tell you if you have a short or not...

Here's the multimeter I use...

Very nice! I really appreciate when people who are knowledgeable about mechs post info. I'm still soaking everything in about mechs and I do plan on getting one, I just want to make sure I get the right one at a good price.

@RainSong that is why I selected the new NABUKI, I love the Kabuki tanks, and this has that mounted on a mech. It was a no brainer for me. Probably literally!! But as you said it is so nice to have very knowledgable folks around to ask questions of and learn.
