Thank you @ToolmanTexas , I had a glimmer of intelligence and ordered 2 extra glass tanks when I bought the Gem 2. It took a bit of work, but the tank is fine now.

26 is a bit thick for a kayfun but as long as you keep over 1ohm you'll do fine with it, its more the lack of airflow that puts the restriction of how low you can build. 28 is a nice all round gauge to tootle puff a kayfun. You'll notice your batts drain faster ramping up the 26 gauge to get a decent vape cause its going to take a bunch of wraps to get into the 1.2-1.4 ohm threshold that IMO is the sweet range of a kayfun, thats why the 28 is nicer. I think I made 6 wraps on 3mm rod and came out to 1.2ohm with the 28 gauge kanthal....or something like that...its been a while.
Actually i use 26 gauge in a Kayfun Lite plus V2 all the time abd build to .8 ohms.
The question was about a Kayfun Mini V3 not ab okd school Kayfun.
The screw heads on a Kayfun mini V3 are smaller. Abd you CANNOT TRAP 26 gauge leads with them. So you are forced to use 28 gauge or smaller, or swap out the screws.
On my mini V3 i swapped out the screws fir other screws i had bought from FT..
I use 28 on the KFM 3. Tried some 30g hoping slightly smaller wire would be easier to trap, but it seems harder to me.
Sometimes I can install a new coil pretty quickly, but daaaang some days it seems like I struggle and struggle and then struggle some more to keep the wire from popping out while I'm tightening down the posts. The only bad thing about the mini. However, I finally have a Coil Master tab on the way, so that miiiiight make it a bit easier.

26 is my preferred gauge even on my Kompact Kayfun, and Darang
Dripper clone.
You should try it witg 1 1/2 hands as in my case.sonetines i try 10-12 trys to trap the first lead.
30 is my preferred gauge. I use it in everything I own, the KFL shorties, ego CLR's, Doggies, Exo and ST Mini for the Billet Box , and the O-16 BF'rs.

ACK! Well I made the classic mistake of saying out loud (well typing out loud, actually) that I hardly ever drop my stuff, and of course a couple of days later dropped my mod with the Goblin Mini and smashed the glass drip tip (somehow the tank avoided destruction). I'm glad it came with a spare, too!I was talking about a old skool kayfun, just looked at a pic of the posters kayfun and it doesn't look like the ones I own. I've been out of the kayfun loop for quite a while.
I built 30 gauge for my wife for eons in both protanks and subtank mini's. I'd get a couple rewickings before the 30 would begin to weaken and distort easily trying to pack rayon into the build, the 32 is worse for weakening with age. I build my wife 28/34 kanthal claptons and get 1.4ohm so its a nice tootle puffing for her and much better performance than out of the same 28 single wire build. She refuses to vape single wire builds once I gave her a clapton to try out to see if she liked it. This is where DIY juice pays off with enjoying thirsty builds and not worry about the juice consumption.
edit... I should add that I remove the clapton from the subtank and clean it separately using needlenose pliers then stick it back in. I don't dryburn using the RBA cause of the obvious burning the insulator along with dropping scraping cooties into the airflow shaft, forgetting to re rinse the RBA and making the next build taste burny right from the get go.

I am a ball of stress topped by a gigantic headache getting ready to pack a family of 5 for a week away. And lazy me should have mixed liquid last night to have some of the flavors I want for the week. Guess I'll have to add that to tonight's to do list. One more work shift, one more sleep and then on vacation! Wonder if there's a vape store in the tiny town I'm headed to.
