I hope your screws aren't magnetically neutral

They're not. I've been using a regular screwdriver and a little wand type magnet on all of them for more than a year now. So I know these new screwdrivers will work.

I'm getting me a magnetic screwdriver or twelve before I attack Le Doggystyle again, LOL, or really any new tank (yes, I have a few) but not from FT, I plan to demand them from the husband, I know he must have many, many of them. I will take my lovely new tank (or, the Doggystyle out there) and get him to give me the right sized screwdriver, next time he has the sheds open.

Pop Quiz: (Editing related: What is the word that 90% of the time you don't/need want, and should get rid of?)

Hehe, I know the answer (unfortunately) and when you get to THIS TYPE OF EDITING, ARGH!!!! I'm NEVER quitting vaping. Unless I finish this sucker....

@lil_buddy is correct!!! It is "that" closely followed by "this" closely followed by "with" "could" "were" and "only." (For me, anyway, but THAT is a bad word, apparently.)

Lol, my copyeditor tells me this, and then inserts the phrase, "that is" in my FIRST SENTENCE, LOL. I notice he tended to use it a few times to clarify, then counted up my "instances of offense."
To be fair, his "that is" may well be one of the 10% I can't get rid of.... I just wish it were not in the FIRST sentence. LOL.

Also adverbs have become evil in today's modern writing world. I agree that sometimes they're not so hot, but honestly, if you write using NONE of them, things can get a bit stale. There are only so many "more active" verbs you can replace them with....

Also, I hate "Track changes" in word, but I'd probably hate the alternative even more. Getting leaner all the time though!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

Just not on ECF, I like not considering careful, sparse phrasing while editing, sorry y'all. :)

What would you like to win, @lil_buddy? I have a bunch of juice from Humble arriving, and will probably use it sparingly, as it has some PG and not to the husband's taste.... If you want a bottle PM me and I will tell you what flavors I am getting... :) Seriously :)

oh I didn't know I was gonna win something! I DIY my own juice because I hate commercially sold juice, for the most part.

I also have a problem with that's evil cousin, 'which'

You know, my biggest problem for the longest time was using the word "and" enough. I finally had to be like, "Anna, it is highly unlikely to find an agent who is as aversive to the word "and" as you. Also, writing in first person really important (to me) to not be an "I-me-my" person.

That's what 12 years of poetry and clinical writing gets you. Honestly. I was an English and Philosophy major in college (decades ago) and I can critique the hell out of anything.... Only it's humbling since I don't have a MFA learning how to "write" a "book" correctly. I really started from the ground up, LOL.

My most mortifying moment was sending an early draft to my favorite English professor from College who actually REMEMBERED who I WAS, and was like, "I can refer you to my editor..." Only I was cautious and said, "Maybe you'd read a bit first?"

LOLOLOLOL, he was THE MOST helpful critique I GOT and really I wrote this thing making EVERY mistake possible, but he did NOT offer to loan me his editor again. Since, I have had editing and copyediting and it's helpful (and the book is nothing like I write here...) but it's taken me about 2 years to even get to this final point and I think I made every error possible.

I felt bad though, like his favorite student had somehow "gone wrong." I'm still glad I sent it....

I'll PM you some ideas, lil_buddy if juice is not to your taste. Later. Got to torture myself with yoga AGAIN today. Day one was hard.... day two will be probably harder. I think I am going to restrict things, probably. That and my elbow brace, though it's mostly better.... :)

Anna, since I have never met you, I'm just guessing, but I doubt anyone who has ever met you, would ever forget, and I mean that in a nice way. :)

save some heart ache and get a couple of these. I've used them with success for a long time, as most of my tools are the ones I bought or inherited when I turned 16 and started working on my own car. and they stopped being magnetic over the years. and and and

Thanks @petrotech for the info, very helpful. I love magnets for some reason. Used to carry them in my pockets in College. Kind of a geeky vision spinner I guess.... LOL, credit cards and magnets don't get along anymore I guess....

@oplholik , that is the sweetest thing to say! Thank you. I have two modes, boring/stealth (I do it well, especially as I go grey...) or Rather Memorable, but sometimes not in such a GOOD way, although sometimes good, I guess. Got that rather menacing devil on the one shoulder, and that angel on the other, and sometimes they alternate talking.... :)

Unfortunately for me, the angel on my shoulder stutters, so by the time he gets to have his say, the devil on the other shoulder said it, and I did it!

I am embarrassed, I didn't know reading every post was a prerequisite for participation.
Never occurred to me anyone would have the time or inclination to make an attempt.

Here I thought it was kind of a living thing you just jumped in & out of on a whim.

If it TIZ a pre-req, I'm OUT!!! :D

Jump in as you like, and jump out as you like. NO ONE HAS TO READ THIS ENTIRE THREAD!!!

(But Parts One and Two ARE essential literature...)

I guess you missed the post about handing out demerits.

Oyoyoyoy oyoyoyoyoy.

Like, you mean like what is like the word you like don't need, or like shouldn't used it like every third word?
