Vape Mail ! Silver Eleaf Invoke and 4 VTC5 batts.
But that little beauty will never go above 20W or 420*F, so I guess it's that New Fangled Tootle Puffin' :)
I’ll never, ever tire of vape mail! I received 4 FT packages just this morning.
Yeah, I’ve spend an inordinate amount of money on vaping, but at least they’re tangible items that I use, unlike if I spent it on gambling, drinking, etc:)

I was not aware you were even having surgery :( …. I took a break from the forum for several months and when I returned you were not here..... I am glad though that you are recovering and doing better :)
I’m actually thinking of writing a little blog on my profile (or something like that) to tell my story because my extended recovery is a direct result of my nicotine use (per my neurosurgeon, primary care physician, physical therapist, as well as countless studies. Believe me, I looked for something saying it wasn’t the nicotine). I had NO idea that I’d ever have to consider that!
Although I’m not sure how telling the story would help others here, so maybe not...TBD. I’m still shocked, I understand no ibuprofen during fusion but I guess I never bothered to research the physical effects of nic on the body, hence my surprise

I just wouldn’t want it to come across as anti-nicotine. Although it wouldn’t be my intent, it may be construed as such...

I am interested in hearing about it (ANTZ propaganda or not).... As a matter of fact, that is exactly why I wanted to hear about it.... PM it to me when you get time.

Actually, that is exactly the reason I’m switching to a new neurosurgeon in Jan. Me and an ANTZ doctor, do NOT go well together . Hopefully the new doc will have at least a modicum of empathy and understanding!

Glad to hear that your fusion is progessing well in spite of the nic! I'm also very glad that you're here with us and doing your best to keep those vape vendors in business!:)

I'm glad to hear this, Chels, because it felt to me like they were taking advantage of you, to a degree.

The number of things that impact any one person's recovery is quite large, and not even the best surgeon can predict or explain end results with any degree of accuracy.

Through three surgeries (one back, plus two hip replacements), I was "warned" because I smoked (at the time) and drank coffee. I recovered from all three in 60-75% of normal. In each case, I smoked my last cig on the way to the hospital (they said I NEEDED to quit two weeks prior), and had my first afterwards the moment I was released from the hospital.

Yes, caffeine and nicotine do indeed play a role, but there are other things that play even larger ones.

People with agendas never vary from their agendas, regardless of their positions. Some, sadly, take advantage of their positions to try advancing their agendas.

Focus on what really matters - recovering. Anything more than that would be pure conjecture, and also a disservice to yourself, which really IS the most important thing in the equation.

    :)

My father in law is a retired physicians assistant (and a PA in my opinion is just as good, if not better as a primary care doc) definitely disagrees with what neurosurgeon says. When I talk about my latest visit, simply shakes his head and says something similar to you, that’s there are many factors and some people take longer to heal. And then proceeds to tell me that most neurosurgeons aren’t known for their personality! [emoji23]

Neurosurgeons have a depressing job, because so many of their patients are doomed. It's bound to color their vision of the world.

Nicotine is discouraged because the vasoconstriction it causes is supposed to impair healing, which seems to make sense. But then there's this old study that says the opposite: Nicotine Accelerates Angiogenesis and Wound Healing in Genetically Diabetic Mice.

    Science is exhausting.

Science is fun … The problem is there is junk science (assumptions and theories) and there is real science (observation, testing and facts).

Oh, science is great. It's just tiring, too, whether it's good or bad.

Someone should do a study comparing healing among smokers, vapers, and those who do neither.
