Internet birthdays are great, you get lots of reminders. I wish everyone's birthday I knew IRL was announced by lots of other people on the day of, although you will note I am not all prepared with emgoies of flowers, cats, cake etc.

I do wish you all well. I lived in England for a couple of years, and loved it. And though I'm American, born and bred, I also have EU citizenship. I'm sorry to say that I think the EU, as it's structured, is a mess. It may be very difficult to pull out (they won't make it easy sadly), especially given your divided island, but I can't help thinking it will work out well eventually.
