I must be the only one that's had good luck with the VVTF V2 micro-deck.

Ease?....Nope. It will tax your patience, for sure.
Grace?... I'm 6 ft 240#, grace was never in my vocabulary.
Lack of profanity?... Aww c'mon, you can't take all the fun out of it. I grew up being Dad's helper & flashlight holder. I thought profanity was in the instructions. A few may have slipped out. ;-)

In all honesty, it's a pain, yes. Personally, I don't mind the effort, if the results are worth it. It's right there, with the BVC coils, in flavor & performance, in my book. I haven't used a BVC coil since I got the VVTF deck. They worked well enough for me, that I ordered 2 more and 2 more Naut Minis to go with them.

Look on the bright side, after doing a couple of the VVTF V2s, building in a STM rba will be like building on an rba the size of my old Buick's trunk.

Hey gang! In addition to that Amaretto and Bourbon joose, I just found a tiny bottle of Junjii Sangria in the stash of old bottles of yet-to-be-used jooses. Now I swear to you that I am not a drinker of any alcoholic beverages (nope, not even beer) and there is no particular reason for that other than I just don't like that stuff. But the Bourbon was good and the Sangria (what is that? wine?) is also yummy. Think I'll see if Wifey can DIY this stuff too... puff puff farm out, dude!

Hey everyone stopping in again! I am wondering if you have had good experiences with clone mods or what i should look out for? I'm thinking about getting a dbox and i think its a clone of top hat or top hatter? I can't find more than two reviews on it. I was looking to get something snazzy for my kayfun v5.

Also in wondering if someone can explain to me what a hybrid mod is? Ive googled and cant find what the differences are.

Okay so it says that the hybrid and rba are not interchangeable buuut people always comment that someone used a hybrid with whatever tank and that is why it blew up. They don't take standard connection so how are people able to attach the tanks? Also are hybrid only tube mods? I was looking at a mod that said hybrid stone mod but it did not come with a rba.. So i got all kinds of confused. Im looking to avoid hybrids but i did need to learn more about then too. Thank you!

The Protank are my every day tank, look good on the 2.5 Provaris. Even tho im in Oz thought I would stock up, 25 new in box, that will last me a lifetime.

Same here - love my Protanks. I also use a Kayfun mini. Both fit perfectly on my mods...

I think when they said hybrid stone it was referring to the stone and not the connection. I think it's some combo of resin to give the mod a stone look.

My wife and I vaped protanks for eons, they were I learned to rebuild coils. I moved up to kayfuns but my wife stayed vaping the PT2. My only con with protanks was that my airflow adapters eventually came apart from taking on and off hitters, once they come apart they are pretty much trash since they now always come apart and your protank and spring(s) are now always in danger of being lost. I used 2 sockets to hammer them back together, used JB weld but they all eventually came apart again.
Protanks were definitely a successful chapter in our vape journey that have been put to rest replaced by kayfuns and now subtank mini's and a couple merlins. Too bad the Merlins seep juice like the kayfuns did. I just assumed the factory was the blame by torquing the merlins together and wrecking the orings but its not the case...I still get juice on the bottom and on the glass so I suck it up buttercup, wipe it off and proceed forward cause the merlins put out a great vape.
My TFV4's are something else to wick, after all the years of rebuilding I'm lucky to hit 50% non leak rate with both the single and that ungodly dual coil RBA that I still haven't been able to wick without it literally unloading the juice onto the hitter. I wont yet say the TFV's are failures but they sit with nice builds in them until I one day revisit them.

Me too, I use my PT2'S every day. For me they're simple and familiar. I have a few spare AFC's for them as well.

You have 25 in your stash??? Heck, I have trouble finding ONE! Hmm, maybe you bought all of 'em :)

Yep,I'm still using my Protank Minis (3 of them) for my out and about tanks on top of a vision spinner that's still kicking.(I bought it in 2014).My Kayfun clones (6 of those) are my at home tanks on my new eVic VTwo Mini.My Aspire Pegasus hardly sees any use since I got the eVic.

Hybrids do typically come threaded for 510, but the topper screws down directly onto the positive pole of the battery. If the topper's screw does not protrude out of the topper's threaded negative, you have a dead short. Boom. Hence the admonition to ONLY use the mated topper with a hybrid. Or just don't get a hybrid, and don't worry about any oops moments.

As long as you knew and worked with the protank quirks it was a great unit. You have to revamp the coil and flavor wicks of that brand new stock head to get its best potential. With that old head, remove the silica and dryburn to clean the coil then twist about a 1/3 of a Qtip swab into it and trim, its super simple to do and you will get another several lives out of that stock coil. Don't dryburn red hot like in videos or you will burn the insulator on the bottom of the PT head, you can just make it red and scrape off cooties its a better way.

Too true, I don't use the original wicks, I use a 1.8ohm nr-r-nr prewound wire and cotton wicking, for me its a great vape and prolongs the life of the insulator. The Protanks always weep a bit thru the insulator pin but when you get into the habit of wiping any juice off the 510 on the mod when you fill a tank its not a problem.

I found the silicone insulators in the protank coils were better than the rubber ones. The rubber ones would kinda crumble after a long while.Once I learned how to rebuild I would purchase a five pack of coils and recoil them new.I liked my recoils better and it was a fun thing for me to do,gawd I lead a boring life eh. :)

The insulators are hard to find by themselves, none available in Oz and a US ebayer wants nearly $40 AUD to post 50 insulators to Oz. You can make them out of 3mm silicone tube but not having the flange they are really fiddly to fit.
