Post holes you say, you need to check out the kayfun 3.1ES then...

3.1 deck sporting the FDV thumbscrews.

A really simple fix is to cut a pair of grooves in the deck with a small file. I do it to all my kayfun style decks and never have a problem trapping wire.

You can cut them on the left side, the right side, or both side of the screw.

What size are the thumbscrews?

Welp, that's sweet of you, and flattering, but I doubt my opinion of what does and will work for you really means much. I've found it to be an individual process.

What worked for me in my first year (second year, etc.) of vaping is not the same as my preferences now. Ergo, it's often an evolution.
Amen Kat  I bought a Boreas based on what everyone said. Turned out, I hated that tank with a passion and wound up selling it to a friend to buy a Merlin which I loved. Now I find if I'm looking for something specific, I read all I can about it before I think about pulling the trigger.

maybe later ill make a video and show exactly what I do, ill have to dig it out of the closet. I can say mine would be larger coils at 3.96mm I use a 5/32 bit to coil
Thanks for the info! I'll try a bigger coil and more rayon.

Right! And for me, I don't intend to vape forever. Someone at work last night said that I basically traded one vice for another. And to become compliant with my health insurance, I have to be nicotine free within 6 months or pay the $60 every 6 months for nicotine use. :(
I get that all the time too. Or at least I did. I just finally said that yes on the surface it looks like that is what I did, but what I really gave up was a death sentence via all the tar in cigarettes that is absent in ecigs. Haven't had too many comments after that.
Yeah, health insurance is just as naive as all the haters. --sigh--

Only thing is, i may not have the luxury of time to evolve before the vapocalypse

Sent from my iPhone, please excuse any typos

We're already past January, 2017, and the sky has not fallen. Things will get tougher in the future, but you do have months ahead to get used to what you have, and get a better sense what you do and do not like when used over time. It's not at all unusual for vape styles to evolve. Or not. But with continued experience it will become clearer what's best for you over the long term.

I still love my Boreases though I never did quite get the hang of filling them without at least a little bit of leakage from the airflow holes, despite reading and trying multiple methods. But they are definitely not my primary tanks, more an occasional fog machine type tank. The Merlin is great too, I might have to give in and try the Merlin Mini.

This is my first try with boreas and I did get minimal leaking with the 2nd refill from the air holes even tho I had closed them prior to filling. Love the tank tho.......getting great flavor for such a big tank.

Not necessarily..you need to know the diameter of the center post plus the length of the center post. They're not one size fits all.

I was surprised by the Merlin mini. I have it tootling along nicely. 2 ohm 2mm coil smallests air screw in and the airflow closed gives me a draw I like. I have a merlin but have never built it.
The Merlin is one of my 4 go to RTA's. Serpent Mini-1, Merlin-2, Melo3-3 and the Wismec Theorem is 4. eGo One V2 is 5th. Now I really want the mini.

    Thanks........got em...
Now on that small file....would a dremel work?
    :)
If you have a steady hand and a place to clamp the base, I can't see why not. I always manage to cam out the Dremel across whatever surface I am trying to cut when I try to take a shortcut and not clamp stuff down... ;)

The grooves don't have to be deep, just enough to allow the wire to stay in the channel when you tighten the screw.
