As long as you're using safe atomizers with safe builds - and check before attaching, safe batteries, a well maintained device, and have a working knowledge of Ohms law, mechs are as safe as most any regulated device. I have many in different configurations and use them frequently with no ill effect. I would encourage every vaper to have at least one (Nemesis, Chi You, King V2, Stingray... all good choices) stashed away as a backup to redundancies... they're cheap (under $20 most places), and not prone to failure. I would avoid 4nine, Black Ring (Karma), VGod, Simple, Able, Scndrl, Limitless (all are hybrid top), Stingray X and Phantom (they have hybrid top cap options...), Maraxus (hot button)...

Ummm, I own 2 of the mechs on your "avoid" list...

Hey tootle puffing coil rebuilders...Gotta question has anyone here rebuilt a "Kanger E-Smart BCC"

My sister gave me a handful of used ones and asked if I could rebuild them for her.
I've so far taken one apart and MAN are they tiny BUT looks to be doable but possibly a pain.
Soooo any tips or tricks at giving these tiny things a go?
    Thanks in advance!

I love squonking but it's not an out and about, put it in my pocket or purse thing. Like someone else eluded to, a squonking atty is a dripper with a hole in the pin so if it's not upright, liquid will leak out of the air hole and go everywhere, in pocket or purse.
Not if the atty drains right.

I've had my REO GRAND clone and Nuppin' atty in my pocket for 2 weeks now without a single drop.

I've gone from sea level to the top of the Rockies twice now to boot.

Methinks you need an atty with proper drainage. ;)

I still haven't tried squonking, but my interest is peaked!

As far as what's easier, I find tanks and RTAs insufferable, personally.

In my line of work, a leaky tank (for one example) is not an option.

I need to know I can fix it immediately and get on my way.

I only have to install a new coil maybe every 6 months or more.

    I don't know honestly.

And to rebuild or refill, I never have to remove my atty.

Never got to the point where I NEED new coils.

But that's what fits MY needs.

Everyone has to assess for themselves and find their own zen.

Just look around at them, Bea, and find one that suits you. I prefer side fire ones rather than bottom fire. Probably just me, but I always think they're going to fire when stood up.

Ones that telescope will generally be able to take a kick. I have one of these, and it works well.
    EA MECHANICAL MOD V2 by EHPRO - $5, $10 & $15 SALE - Clearance

There are many other mechs there as well, all at fire sale prices.

As Shawn says, avoid hybrids. Without a topper with a protruding pin they will go boom!
I like side fires well enough, but there's more maintenance involved. I prefer bottom fire with a recesses button and a locking ring. One of my faves is the King V2. It has tubes for 18350, 18500, 18650, and a kick...

IMPROOF BLACK Knurled King Mod Clone - PBDragon LLC

I do not like telescoping... if they are overtightened, they can damage batteries...

I've used a Stumpy that was modded by Catfish, a NarDa and a Wanko and every one of them leaked when in my pocket and happened to get sideways. What attys do you use?

So what is the problem with the Stingray X.
Both the Stingray X and the Phantom have switchable top caps allowing them to be converted from atandard 510 to hybrid... it's the hybrid that I object to... I've seen idiots put on the hybrid top cap because it "hits harder", screw on a sub ohm tank, and vent the battery... said idiot threw the mod outside to avoid explosion, bought the exact same kit and did the exact same thing...

You should take it out of your pocket and vape it, at least once in a while!!! Just being silly, but I couldn't resist.
You make a very good point about a well draining atty, I love my Chalice lll, so much so that I bought two more.

You like mechs. I hate them and neither of us are wrong.

Most ofvtge time i used va mech it burned my wick. NO THANK YOU!
In no way wanting to start a fight, here, but...

If a mech mod burned your wick, the atty wasn't built to be used on a mech. This indicates, imo, less than a stellar grasp of ohms law. The mod, with a fully charged battery, sans any voltage drop, will put at most 4.2 volts to the atty... building to 4.2 volts would solve the problem.

    I love my stumpy.

    But the deck is flat.

It doesn't drain completely. Not even close.

And those air holes are like 3 faucets.

My most used atty is the Nuppin'.

I have 13 of them because they're no longer being made.

The deck is slightly concave leading to a drain "pipe".

This funnels ALL the excess joose right to the BF pin feed/drain holes.

Might want to ask around the BF forum to see if there's another atty that can do the same.

If so, I suspect it won't be modified for BF, rather purpose built for it.

You can also watch the classies like a hawk in hopes.

Or attempt to start a coupe with torches and pitch forks to get @pdib to produce another run.

A 14mm flavor, mtl atty with just enough afc and build room that I dl with dual 3mm i.d. 24ga dual coils shoehorned to fit.

    Intense flavor!
    Good vapor.
    No leaks.

I use a RM2, a NoFear, two Origen Little (clone), two Chalice lll and a Hadaly (for the bigger builds and DL). I found the Hadaly authentic to be better than the SXK version for some reason.

Thanks but I can't afford a Nuppin on my best day. I'll just continue to use tanks when I'm out and about and just squonk when I'm at home. Squonking for me is more of a treat than an all day, every day thing. :)

Thanks for the clarification. As long as I don't do anything silly in my old age I am fine. If I want a mod that hits harder I will need something with some weight.

I have a Derringer, Stumpy, NarDa, Wanko, Origen, Hadaly and an RM2. Everyone one of them are used on specific squonkers. The RM2 is on a REO, the Stumpy is on a Lost Vape Halcyon, the Wanko is on the Coppervape and the Origen is on a Pico Squeeze. I use the Derringer, Wanko, NarDa and Hadaly interchangeably on the CV.

Question: has anyone had whizzing issues using cotton balls for wicking? I know, I know I should be buying that celucotton from Sally's but it's a distance away so been using cotton balls. Most of the time I use stock coils.

I thought it was environmental at first because the pollen has been horrid lately but I've never had issues with that before and I noticed it only happens when I vape this tank for a few hours that has a coil I rewicked with a cotton ball.

    EDIT: change whizzing with wheezing

I am with you on that. Nice and simple, I can swap a coil in 5 seconds. I do have the stash and am working on re wicking my PT coils. Deciding what material I like best.

Since you're in to nice and simple (me too), you might give this a try. Cotton 500-Foot Cooking Twine Using a bead needle, or a short length of Kanthal, it's very easy to pull it into the coil. If I remember correctly, this brand has 8 threads and I used 4 (doubled to 8 inside the coil) and 3 (double to 6) for the flavor wicks.

I've also used the same "bead needle" technique with silica rope.
