hello all,

Well, a week from today I'm leaving on a business trip to Georgia for some training. Never having flown as a vaper (or since the TSA ever existed for that matter) I'm a bit concerned on what to do. I realize there are no batteries allowed in checked luggage and any liquids should be kept in zip-lock bags in your checked luggage but....

- I'm afraid to take anything I would hate to loose if TSA decides to confiscate it, do they do that?
- I want to have something in my carry on because there will be lay-overs, should I buy something cheap like an AIO? Maybe a cig-a-like?
- I know that any tank with liquid will leak due to pressure, what do others do? Keep some liquid handy and fill during layovers?
- How often do mods in checked baggage get stolen?

I've been dreading this trip and really wish I could have just driven...

I fly a lot, I don't know if it work for you, but here is what I do. I don't travel with mods that have internal batteries (except for my AIO), but that is me just being paranoid. I put my mods (without batteries) in the bottom of my carry-on, with a couple of filled battery cases. I put my liquids in a ziplock bag. (If you need a lot of liquid, cover the top with plastic wrap, screw the top back on & put it in your checked bags). I also put my battery charger in my carry-on. The mods I take, I bought specifically for traveling, they were inexpensive & on the off chance that they are taken I won't cry too much.

I empty my tanks and wrap them in paper towels to protect from residual leakage.

In my front zipper compartment I have either an empty AIO or a small ego stick battery/ts3 or similar tank. On layovers & when I land, I fill it and vape away until I can set myself up "properly."

Remember to pack extra coils (if you're a blister pack person), or to bring rebuilding supplies. If you bring rebuilding supplies, I HIGHLY recommend that you put that in checked baggage.

Good luck.

Don't put any vape gear in checked luggage. That's verboten. You can take them as carry on. It's best to empty the tanks, and carry liquid separate. If that's convenient, invert the tanks.

All extremely good advice ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^

Here is what I used to do: Taking Vaping Gear & "E-Liquids" On A Plane Trip . . .

Although, I have updated "My" Blog entry a couple of times (especially with links to the FFA 2015 "Pack Safe" suggestions), one of the most important things I'll repeat here for everyone to know is:

MAKE SURE . . .

ALL "e-Cig" BATTERIES/MODS ARE TURNED OFF BEFORE PUTTING THEM AWAY IN YOUR CARRY-ON BAGS ! ! !

AND - As I said in "My" Blog . . .

"BTW: In the unlikely event that you can’t take your e-cig with you, take a self addressed envelope/box large enough for all your e-cig "stuff" with you so that you can mail it back to yourself if you can’t take it through the checkpoint, which is very unlikely to happen. Better safe than sorry."

Nope, not a Genny. gravity assisted/capillary action feed. Two holes in the bottom of the tank Coil sits beneath it. You fill the holes with wicking media, Silicon, Cotton, Mesh, the juice is pulled though whatever feed method you use to the wick, or you could just place the wick directly into the holes. Mesh pretty much works the best and is the most common choice.

First picture is the Coil/wick of a Taifun GS2, second pic, though a little hard to see is the mesh feeder straws going through the hole, and lightly contacting the cotton wick.

I'm one that does not mind breaking out the old stuff with tight draws occasionally. Haven't missed many of the newer release attys, Moonshot is a nice one. My current favorite is the Boreas, though I've been enjoying my RDAs more often lately, Just got a Noname Nopity, and an Aeronaut, also grabbed a $5.00 authentic Cartel Cascata #notaclone

BTW, I was referring to the TGS, Not GSII.
My bad I read GS and thought GS II...

I do like the draw on the GS, it is the closest I have found to the draw on a cigarette. Never did DL my smokes, so the vape on the GS is perfect for MTL and it is not adjustable. After using the high air flow RTAs with dual Claptons and a wattage of 80+ for a while now, I am just too aggressive on the old MTL attys. I'll have to stop trying to get that intensely voluminous vapor from them that the RDAs provide. :D

Nice score on those RDAs, the Aeronaut is supposed to be a great performer and you can't beat a $5 Authentic!

I just flew to Seattle a couple weeks ago for two days. I took my Kayfun 4 and Tilemahos so I could close the JFC on the flight. For mods I took a Hana One and my XvoStick. Two bottles of juice and everything went into the same zip bag. Carried on everything with me and did not have any problems. They did pull them out of my back pack, gave em a quick glance and sent it down the ramp.

Its not really a big deal to fly with em I do not think.

Bought a clone of the Aeronaut liked it enough that when Eciggity had the 30% off site wide I grabbed an authentic and the kit with the optional airflow tubes. Pretty much my favorite RDA to date. Including overpriced unicorns like the Narda, M-atty, Nipple, list could go on a while..

I do know what you mean on the high powered stuff, rolled up some Stapled framed claptons a pair in the Boreas hit the gate at .21, matched up with the 250 wart Rolo firmware to the top makes for a wild ride, To Roxy's credit the Boreas @ 250 is like a little volcano, wicks well enough not to even hint at a dry hit.
don't think I'd like to do a 250 watt dry hit

After the Boreas @ 250 pretty much everything else is tootling

I really dislike Gearbest, and it may be more trouble then it is worth, but they had the Hotcig VS not to long ago.

As for the three you mention, I'm going against common opinion, but the FEV 3 just never did it for me, flavor is just a bit on the weak side, not bad, but not as good as many others. I've found no matter the build or placement of coil it ends up being slightly muted.

Horizon is better on the flavor department, and can be had with a nano set up which is a plus for me, also offers some pretty decent air flow options with a decently large range, unfortunately the range is accomplished with grub screws blocking off 1 or more of the 4 ports with grub screws, extremely tight air flow being accomplished with 3 blocked, fourth with a center drilled grub. little fiddly but works well enough.

couple things I don't care for with the Horizon, both fixable, but annoying enough to make worth mention. The juice feeder holes are a bit on the small side for High VG liquids, it will work but tends to starve just enough to be noticeable unless you get wicking just right. Easy fix would be to run a drill through them, which I never did get around to.

The second issue, the top of the chamber is a plate, and held in place with an o-ring, when it gets juicy it spins easily, which end up messing up your build. Polishing/reducing the chimney just a tiny bit, or a little tighter o-ring should fix it, just never got around to it. Kayfun type deck is a really easy build, 22mm is another + to me as well.

Finally the Kronos, my favorite of the three, Nano option, fairly short overall height, especially with nano tank, easy wicking/build best flavor of the three. Top fill capable (not the best design but works) Drop deck for easy access to build. Decent airflow with good range of adjustment. 23mm could be a negative depending on preference, doesn't bother me.

Woo, a little long winded, sorry for that..

Wowsers...
I've pulsed the Cuboid at 200W using the required 0.32 build to hit 200W and it was a hissing demon! I can just imagine how 250W would be.

You sir, will make Victor proud!! :D

Yes I would not want to get addicted to a 250W vape... :w00t:

The full size is maybe slightly above average on flavor, you get a pack of center drilled grubs to change the air flow, largest on the FEV3 being about 1.8mm, smallest not sure, but guessing .8mm or so, small enough for MTL. Many equate the experience to an RDA, I'm not one of them, it isn't bad, but for the juice I vape its slightly muted. This one just doesn't do it for me. Good design, works well enough, produces nice thick vapor, just a bit muted.

The smaller VS is pretty much identical, just smaller, but flavor is much better, probably due to the reduced chamber, full size is 23mm, little one is 17mm. The only other sub 22mm atty I have that rivals it is the Kayfun Mini V3.

I'd say the big reason these never really caught on in the USA is the look, not the most elegant, though they're pretty popular in some parts of the world.

Still trying to find that magic build in the big one, I've tried quite a few, so far its just lacking for me. The FEV4 is now up for purchase, as far as I know the only difference is a slight increase in air flow.

She's a hot one @ 250, but lacks Victor's Professional Vaper seal of approval!

The bad part with tanks like the Boreas is the increase in juice consumption I expect about 500ml this month, maybe even a bit more.

Ok ill think I will pass on that one. If the flavor is in the muted department it would stay in a drawer forever.

thanks :)

They are a little Industrial looking, I like listening to Rammstein when I vape it!

The Glass tank is a much better look IMHO.

Almost bought the clone form Focal a few times, just couldn't bring myself to spend the $40 or so dollars it was for something I would probably use one time.
Finally I broke down, decided WTH, and of course it was discontinued.

Sort of have the same thing going on with the Genalocity 32.5mm as they call it, by the time I decide to get one it will probably be gone.

This is the one I really want, LOL Heard it was going to be named the FacePlant

Been away from ECF for a long time, came back Fri and read for the first time about the new FDA regs. Today I clicked on this thread and here I find out my style of vaping deems me a Tootle Puffer! (Talk about deeming!) This has not been a good weekend.

Ummmmm, well, ummmmm, Wow? Then, why, then I guess you'll have to show the build! I'm assuming it's meant for series builds?

Yeah, it sucks! Walk away two weeks now and everything seems to change! Welcome to the thread!
