Most people really seem to like the Icare kits, just don't overfill it and they seem pretty leak proof. I've read of a few people dropping them and having the tanks crack, they are glass, and I've yet to see a becent fix for that.
The other thing I've noticed is people are liking the mini more. It holds less liquid, but with the included PCC it seems to last most people all day.
With all the rave reviews I've even considered getting one of them, and I LOATHE nonreplacable battery mods!
Just got my icare in tonight. This thing is pretty cool. I got the reg size for the battery life. It is very stealth. $15 + shipping totally worth it. I've seen it in B&ms for 20-22$ as well. It wouldn't be a good device if that's the only thing you had. But definitely a fun vape toy. Good vapor production and flavor with a 50/50 liquid.

One of the things I recall about the last time I used an automatic battery (2009), was that they were sound-activated.
Coming soon
(I would definitely NOT recommend them)

Does anyone know if that's still the case?

Some who know me might attest to the fact that I'm somewhat a loud human (across the board). I was setting it off, my car radio was setting it off, and I was swapping batteries every 20 minutes or so. It got a bit tedious. For me, the discovery of the button (2011) was DA BOMB (and the ultimate difference maker)!

Electronic Cigarettes & Vaporizers | V2.com
(not recommending THEM either)

I'm guessing (hoping?) that the technology has improved somewhat since then.

I guess what I'm saying is that I'm intrigued by these types of devices. Probably not to the point of purchasing one, but you never know (We Are Vapers!).

So, again and to the point - are the current automatic devices driven by sound, or something other (better)?

Thanks in advance. :)

"Siri, vapor please."
I've never heard of sound activated vapes before. The eleaf icare is activated when you inhale. No buttons. It's kinda like those blue cigs or those analog cartridge ecigs. But you have your own (pre-made)coil and use your own juice. All good.

The old automatics were sound activated. Wind, radio, heavy breathing-- you name it.

The new pod mods prolly will appeal to some, but to me, the price to value of the pod itself (the atty) is a bit steep.

The temptation, Puf, is almost paralyzing (but I will control myself). [emoji23]

Si, SiriVape (I like it!). At the time, the thing that actually activated it, when you sucked on it (DANGER, WILL ROBINSON!), was the sound. Driving with my car window down it looked like The Magical Vape.

Granted, they weren't the very best devices that I had selected, as I learned later, and that may have been part of the problems too.

Lived, learned, vaped on.

There is no pod system. It's more like a AIO ego by Joytec. You fill the device with your favorite juice and change coils the same way.

Thanks everyone for all your suggestions. I think I like the Plato and the icare best. Does anyone know if either has leaking issues? That is the deal breaker for me for any device. And any ideas how long to expect from the coils?

Besides the - Smart Box Kit - Innokin has a Cool Fire IV(4) TC 18650 Vape System - that use 18650, even comes with a carry case for an extra battery . . .

@DPLongo22, holy cow, you werent kidding when you said pricey - $260 bucks! That's more than all 5 of my provaris together.

YEA - BUT A "Billet Box" IS WORTH EVERY PENNY . . .

AND - I would go so far to say - better then almost any Provari . . .
