So don't even try to salvage it? I figure if my batteries get to the point where they need rewrapping I will just get new ones because I'm not comfortable with rewrapping them. Although who knows, maybe I will watch a couple of videos on the subject as they get pretty abused in the hana modz!
Mfr defect.

They owe you a new cell.

Get it.

BUT!!!

If you can turn on a hair dryer you can rewrap a battery. ;)

I do not use NoOx. It's not necessarily good as a conductor... can't carry a tune or nuthin'...

wait...

what...

no, right... I use dielectric grease. It's designed for electric connections.

Either one will work. No ox is mainly used on aluminum wire connections, like where wires from the pole connect in your meter can. Don't eat either of them.

So, not spread on toast?

Reminds me of the old guy in the hospital... he liked all the food except the Kentucky Jelly... I mean, that's what the label said it was... just used the state's abbreviation...

@ChelsB a few pages back (and I cant find your post anymore) you said that maybe you shouldnt have bought so many mods with replaceable bats. I know you were frustrated when you said that. I hope you feel better now.

Mods with non-replaceable bats are fine if you use them in the present time but those that take replacable bats are a smarter choice in the long run. 1. You can store them away for the dark ages without worrying the bats will drain, 2. Non-replaceable are worthless after the bats die.

So you were wise to stock up on bats that take replaceable bats. If you have a good stock of tanks, mods and nic, enough for however many years you're comfortable stocking for, maybe now is a good time to just enjoy them before you buy anymore so you can be sure you bought things you know you will like for a long time.
Agree 100%.

I have 8 mods. Three are wrapped in foam rubber and stored in ammo can in case of EMP. Three are in a drawer. All of them uses replament batteries.

In rotation a Pico with my Kayfun, a Mini Volt eithba dripping atomizer i use when testing a new batch of DIY Ejuice. When Mini Volt dies there will be NO internal battery mods.

But it's nice to know that battery changing in my Hana modz could be easier with a flat top! I've already broken 2 nails trying to change the battery! It shouldn't be that hard to do!
Im surprised you could get a button top battery in the Hana mod. A button top will not go in the eVic VTC Mini at all.

So should I try to pop the button off or is that asking for trouble?
No! Never!
No do not remove the button.
It should be soldered, then shrink wrapped with clear.
Many less than reputable folks just sit them on top & hope the shrink wrap holds the button in place.
No solder.

Spot welded.

3 or 4 divots.

Solder would be a hazard in the event of a short.

And NiXX/Li- cylindrical cells in packs get tabs welded to terminals to configure the pack.

And LiPo pouch cells get aluminum solder on the tabs to the leads.

My guess is the second insulator is just a sticky ring holding the added button top in place over the flat top HE4. I'll bet you could probably pick off the smaller insulator and easily remove the button.
This is scary. Don't do it.

Rewrapping is as easy as turning on a blow dryer.

However, that is a defect. It needs a free replacement.

BTW, Listen to Topwater Elvis as far as what batteries go to what. He's spot on.

Meh.

I use that hot mess on socket connections on my vehicles... and only there.

Places that should be filled with goop to keep weather and minerals out.

I don't even trust it on my cb antenna.

In a thin application, especially where there may be dissimilar metals, I find the No-Ox to be a much better protector.

On a threaded connector there's plenty of contact area that it's of no concern anyway.

Tomato/tomahto...

LOL I dont wind wire, I use exactly the same fasttech coils in everything, BVC recoils, nautilus recoils, CLR coils, cubis tanks, sophia's, spheroids, herons and wines. No fuss no decisions, I take 2 sec vapes. The coil has to be thin and fast or I am sucking eliquid

Gotcha. Well look for so,e with the spec I mentioned. Longer a fine. Unwrapping is simple. !

You could never be forgotten about. But it says you live in Canada.

If Only - Especially given the current situations many of "Us" are going to be facing for at least the next few years . . .

I had NO idea Uncle I'm SO sorry. You okay???

Absolutely No Problem . . . "My" Bad - just assumed with all I have posted on ECF, including here in the "Tootle Puffers" Thread about "Stuff" in South Florida for the past few years most people already knew where I actually live now . . . Just Sayin' . . .

@Uncle I just saw you're in FL too. You got hit with that storm too? I hope you and yours and your home are ok.

Well to be honest, don't have a "Home" to worry about (live in Senior Housing Complex) . . . AND - "We" were Not really "Hit" like some other people in FL were around here (there were a couple of tornado's in the area) . . . All "We" got in Ft Lauderdale for the past couple of days was a lot of blustery wind (which was GREAT) and some heavy rain . . . Today, and I do not believe I am saying this, is dealing with the colder weather(50's) again that came in overnight . . .

BTW: For those who are concerned - YES, I am "okay" & safe . . . :D

Hi Pokes!
Me and my casa are just fine. Had some hairy winds last night and some downpours but nothing major or out of the ordinary. Funny thing is this week a year ago we got hit with a Tornado. Happy Tornado Anniversary?:)

The off center battery should be taken care of by IMR - contact them with your order number and the photo.

On wrapping batteries, depending on your mods you can just wrap over the old wrapper. I've done that with several HG2 that had picked up a scratch or fraying.

The double wrapped batteries are a no no for my tube mechs (too tight for comfort), but fit fine in my regulated box mods.
Hmm never thought of double wrapping. I usually just peel off the torn one.

The earlier Pico's had a habit of slowly creeping up in power by .1W whenever you changed the atty. Temperature control refinements and other minor software issues. If you don't use TC you'll probably never need to upgrade your firmware on any mods unless there is a major issue.

I stopped using the stock firmware on my Pico and Cuboid. The third party firmware "ArcticFox" brings most Wismec/JoyeTech devices close to DNA functionality (Monitoring, Profiles and TFR capability). Which is pretty sweet for a $25 mod!

GitHub - maelstrom2001/ArcticFox: Custom Firmware for Joyetech, Wismec and Eleaf battery mods

Thanks for that link TD!:thumb:

Hi TPuffs, remember me? ;)

I've been off this thread for a short while, as it's become a complete runaway train. As Krisma so wisely suggested, please use the multi quote feature. Many have been complaining that they just can't keep up.

Your name does ring a bell. No wait that's @DingerCPA :p
Sorry if I haven't been around myself but I've been a little busy and when I do finally get on here there is an hours worth of reading. By that time it's useless to stick my :2c: in.

Anyway...................

This is scary. Don't do it.
My bad... I didn't know that these jury rigged batteries existed.

I seen now looking the battery up on IMR's site.
"Please note this is an OEM LG HE4 cell with a button top spot welded by a third party manufacturer. This cell has an additional wrapper and insulator which are not to be removed."

I just couldn't fathom that something that far off center actually made it through the line. Which is what made me think it was a stick on.
