Having done some currency conversions and a bit of maths (which I'm not very good at), I've come up with roughly 51 pensioners. I couldn't agree more that it's all about "follow the money" wherever you are.

Just a hair over £24000. According to this article:

So, £18000/12=£1500 per month

£24000, then, would pay 16 average pensions.

One month of cancer care for one person could cover the full monthly retirement check or 16 people...

That about right. Around what my grandfather was getting when he died.

Will be interesting to see what they do here. It seems they are going to legalize nic but go after flavors that appeal to kids.

That reminds me, I need to get some more nic base before the 10ml max size comes in under the TPD in May - and it's possible some other items will find their way into my basket

Years ago I read somewhere that 75% of health care money is spent on people in their last year of life. is that still true? What percent of the insured population simply dies of naturual causes and never inures significant medical bills? Everybody dies of something. We assume that smokers cost the health system more than non smokers over a life time. Is that really true or something we believe because it's seems like it ought to be true. insurance companies know the answers to these questions with precision. How come we don't?

Its one of the oldest ploys that they are using to swing the masses into their favor. Soon as they(government) mention kids going to be affected the masses get up-in-arms and begin freaking out that the next generation is going to follow the bad paths, then the government goes with it adding more fear into parents who did in their day hide booze and cigs from their parents also. It would be easier for kids to hide vaping from their parents cause the stench of cig smoke is a dead give away or the smell of raspberry vodka on their breath....give me a break with this "affect kids" bullschite thats getting announced all the time.
The only side affect that vaping will have on kids is now their parents are going to live long enough for their kids to have to take care of them in their golden years and flavorings have nothing to do with that.

I've described more than a few times that I turned the $3,000 a year I used to spend in cigs into less than $30 a year cost of ingredients for DIY. So imagine parents who smoke like I did and switch to vaping as I have and now they're saving $6,000 a year. Who are the big winners? THE KIDS! Because that money will be spent giving them a better life. The way it works right now is that money goes to benefit somebody else's kids and that's why the ecig debate is so contentious. The average soccer mom would happily dig my grave if her little Johnny gets a better paid teacher. It puzzles me this is never brought up.

I don't see cig money going to anybody's kids but to develop a more addictive cigarette to hook those kids faster, fuel fancy jets, sail in yachts and bonuses to BT CEO's. Short shortsightedness of governments from the past is now beginning to bite them in the azz because new technology and alternatives is now here and working, they just weren't expecting vaping to explode like it has taking millions away from smoking literally overnight.
Same success story in our household..$600 a month to smoke turned into $20 a month to vape but since we began vaping 2013 we've owned 3 brand new off the lot vehicles and currently fueling a 2016 Silverado with BT ciggy money, something we never could have accomplished if we both still smoked.
For those who know of the famous gesture of the late 60's done by one of our prime ministers to a crowd.... I Trudeau salute the Tobacco Companies cause you will never see my money again.

The Mi One finally arrived today. The battle of the mini's has begun.
The Mi One is even smaller than the Togo. But I hate the placement of the button on top, makes it a bit awkward to hold. And the light on the button is very bright, so it's uncomfortable to use when it's dark (or in the car) unless the button gets completely covered. The afc is very loose and the draw wide open is a quite restricted lunghit. Flavour is great though. The winner is the Togo for me.

What legislators typically do is earmark their most evil and corrupt taxes to feel good spending, like education to ensure there is a segement of the citizens who will vigorously defend the evil because they feel they personally benefit. Many states 'earmark' tobacco taxes for education or heath care for this purpose. It's a shell game, a fraud, but that doesn't stop self interested tax supported groups from resisting anything that might be a funding threat. There is a post this morning about a vaper who got a $500 traffic violation for using an electronic device while driving, his ecig. The law certainly wasn't created for this purpose but the policeman depends on taxes for his pay and ecigs are a funding threat. Mark my words, if possession by minors is made illegal police will enforce it vigorously while ignoring tobacco possession. Tobacco taxes are very corrupting and always have been.

There are some professional liars lurking around the forum who like to scare people. Restricted access to products is a real possibility. It's prudent for life long vapers to do some stocking and pay attention to government actions but so far products seem to be available about the same as always.

Recently I asked the RTS vape chemist (ask the chemist) why nicotine in tobacco leaf seems to be so durable while extracted nic in liquid concentrate form is characterized as very fragile and requiring so many precautions for storage. (I've smoked 10 year old cigars that were fine after the correct humidity was restored.) He didn't have an authoritative answer. My nic is staying in amber bottles in the freezer but is nic concentrate really so fragile? When I asked my question at least one person commented that he had nic in a dark cool place, not a freezer, that seemed to be fine after years. His observation would be consistant with my experience with old tobacco leaf. My point is amber glass and the freezer has to be preferred but may be it's prudent to stock some nic even if it can't go in a freezer.

That's a bit of an exaggeration, but it IS close to 60% (taxes). Any way you slice it, it's a LOT of money.

Well, considering how much I've spent over the last few months, I'm trying to be good about it. I've probably bought 8-10 mods and 15 tanks (some assembly required).

Only thing I do want to get is a bulletproof mech mod for my stash... no electronics to fail, will work forever, break glass in case of emergency.

Quality clone or an affordable authentic mech (or a few) belong in any stash. I didn't go crazy with cost as they are literally break glass thing for me as well, and ended up with some EHPro Nemesis mechs, which also have the extension tubes to add a kick. I bought a bunch of those on sale as well. Nice quality build. Hopefully I'll never have to find out how durable it really turns out to be.
