Normally I wouldn't be so torn simply because my usual broke self would be liminted to what will fit in my budget. I was looking at the vmod because it will fit in the budget. So now I get me a lottery ticket, scratch it off and YAY!!! Now the reo is a viable option, but I kind of like the vmod and how it doesn't leak, but then there is a drip shield for the reo.... ahh choices!!!! So I will give you a little background and hope your suggestions help out.

Started out with the disposables, hated them. Went to an ego-t, upgraded to the ego-c after a couple weeks. Tried the cartos, clearos, and dct, didn't like any of them. Direct dripping is my preferred vape on a LR 306 atty. I have an ego twist but varriable voltage really doesn't matter to me as I find with the twist the lr 306 is still set at about 3.8 so the 3.7volt battery is fine for me. My main thing is that I don't want to hassel with dripping anymore and I don't want leaking. I work in a hot kitchen all day so the mod needs to be small enough to fit in my pocket and not leak due to juice thinning out because of the heat like it does with my ego-c. Oh and something durable because I drop this ego all the time!

Get a bogger box, It's a wood mod that's priced right and the quality of construction is top notch. It's obtainable too. Marcus the owner will answer any questions that you may have. I really can't say enough good things but can assure you its a tremendous value. He has like 5 different models to choose from. They key for me was finding the right atty for bottom feeding, not that its hard but there are a few like the Aero that are a must NOT buy. I found that that the gotvapes drippers dream atty works very well, is bridgeless, has a spitting blocker and is inexpensive. Plumes of vapor and great flavor. The bogger box changed my life, literally.

added: Oh I almost forgot, he just opened an ECF thread: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/modder-accessories-supplier-forum/311635-bogger-box-mods.html

I didn't win the lottery, so I have been thinking about an Old Goat bottom feeder. Ron sells them through his thread on here. They are plastic, so they may not be very durable if you drop them... I've heard a lot of good things about the reos, but I can't really say as I've never tried one...

I think you can use the new shorty cartomizers on the bottom feeders. I'm not really crazy about atomizers and dripping. Yes, it is probably the best juice delivery system, but is a pain.... Good Luck and let us know what you decide, lucky you! :)

Not really intereseted in the wood mods, they are pretty and all but as often as I drop this ego I'd probably cry if I scratched up the wood mod as much as I have this ego.

How soon will the vv reo be out? And how much do the reo's weigh, both mini and grand? Our required uniform pants are pretty cheaply made and I've already had to sew up pockets. Anything too heavy is liable to rip the pocket seams. Lockers are on the other side of the building, not enough time during breaks to to all the way to the locker then back to the smoking area, then back to the locker to make it back to the kitchen before the break is over. I suppose I could find a case that would somehow hook it to the waist band of the pants LOL

The VV REO Grands should be about another week or ten days. There was a delay with the VV chips.

The REO Mini weighs a little over 100 grams with an AW IMR 14500 in it and a full bottle of juice. I don't have a grand to weigh but I read once maybe a year ago that they're around 160 grams. While I'm at it, the VVPV weighs about 170 grams and my REO VV Woodville weighs around 160 grams (batts and full juice on board)

Thanks Six! Definately leaning more towards the reo and keeping the ego batteries for a backup if they are ever needed. I've been reading a lot of the vmod threads about people needing to send them back in due to broken pieces, but not really much about broken things on the reo as long as you remember to get a couple of extra springs just in case. One last question, are the bottles in the reo proprietary? Not a big deal if they are, just need to know if I need to ourder a couple extras just in case.

The bottles are readily available at lots of places. The 3ml for the mini is the same bottle a whole bunch of vendors use for juice samples - and I bought a bunch of them from madvapes one time. The 6ml bottle for the Grand is also available at several places (madvapes has those too).

Durable and small enough to fit in your pocket? I would definitely look at the REO Mini and REO 18490. The Grand is just a bit too large for a shirt pocket and the VV Grand will be even longer. The mini and 18490 both fit in a pocket very well. They are approximately the same size with the 18490 being a bit thicker.

I've dropped mine several times. They might get a scratch or "ding" in the finish. But never any dents or problems working afterward.

Edit

After thinking, I should clarify my post. The Grand isn't too "large" to fit in a shirt pocket--It fits inside just fine. But it is a bit bulky and heavier. You will definitely know it is there and it will pull a T-Shirt down to one side if in a pocket. I don't seem to notice the weight of a Mini at all and a 18490 very little.

Hope this helps.

Good Luck with your decision!

Thanks kazz, it does indeed help. Not sure that I would keep it in the breast pocket of the chef's jacket just in case it were to leak, same with the vmod. The chefs jackes are white and I wouldn't want it to leak, not to mention I would hate for the unit to fall out of my pocket into someones food. I've had my cell phone fall into a pot of boiling water from my jacket pocket, (yes I'm that big of a clutz) needless to say the cell phone didn't survive as I know the reo would minus the battery lol.

Glad the post made sense. I've never had a Reo leak if the bottle is tightened. I guess it could if you flooded the atty and liquid was standing in the catch cup--but I've never had that happen.

If you will be keeping the mod in a side pocket, all of them would fit and should fill your needs nicely. It is just a matter of weight, battery life, etc.

I differ in opinion. The Vmod2 -- the 14500 battery model -- is tiny and very very pocket friendly.

I went on a quest for pocket friendly and have bought a few. Vmod wins hands down. Only downside is having to carry extra batteries. I've been carrying one around for a year and not one drop outside the mod---and that in including time with the older chassis that did have some internal problems.

The rounded shape and recessed atty with cone (which keeps the atty from poking or breaking off) are part of what makes it so comfy -- in pocket or hand. I often put a shorty drip tip on it, too.

And then, of course, there is the keychain mod---but they are only for cartos.

Here's another REO lover....hope you're not getting sick of us. LOL. I think the REO Mini would be the perfect mod....or the REO 18490 which is just a tiny bit bigger but with a battery that lasts longer. I have Minis, 18490s and REO Grands (and a couple of wooden REOs as well) and I can't speak highly enough of them. In my opinion, they are the perfect mod. You can usually find used ones in classifieds, and if there's anything wrong with it when you get it, Rob (the builder) will fix it up good as new. You should maybe just go introduce yourself and hang out on the reos mods forum for awhile and ask questions....

Thanks JC, I've been lurking in the reo mods area LOL trying to collect info where I can.

And thanks Tearose too, it all helps.

I've not seen too much on the vmod, the videos mostly just show people taking off the cone sliding it down to show the inside and reassembling. Tipping the bottle seems like a bit of a pain, the only thing I ever had to tip was the clearo's and those I used for target practice rather than vaping.

Vmod looks nice and small and a more comfortable fit over the reo, but not nearly as durable (yes I saw them run over it) as the reo. The only thing that worries me most about the reo is dropping it and damaging the atty. Where with the vmod it seems better protected in the cone.

So I guess, for reo users, how often have you damaged atty's or cartos from dropping the mod?

I have a Reo mini, a Vmod 2.o and an Old Goat bottom feeder. Love them all. Having said that, the one that I take to work and keep in my front pants pocket all day long is my Reo mini, with a super shorty carto. Have never had it leak nor misfire in my pocket, it works every single time I pull it out. One 14500 battery lasts me my whole shift, however I can't vape openly, I have to use the restroom for that, so it's not like I'm using it all day.

Well, they're made out of airplane aluminum, so you almost CAN'T damage the body at all. I mean, people have literally run over them with trucks and the body is fine. Dropping them with an atty: I've done that a couple of times, and nothing happened. I have a habit of sitting mine between my legs in my car, and a few times I've forgotten, gotten out of the car, and the REO will fall on the pavement. Never a problem. However, I'm sure if you dropped it just right, it'd probably hurt an atty....it's never happened to me, though. I also use cartomizers a lot with my REO....that's really handy. And if you drop and break a carto, oh well...it's just a dollar or so down the drain. Honestly, they are almost damage-proof except I guess for the atty....and even that has weathered a few of my storms.

I just hate sounding so much like a "fanboy," (girl), but I just swear by my REOs. I have been vaping for a little over two years now, and I have gone from the stupid mall kiosk Smoke51 to Joye 510s to eGos (stuck with those for almost a year) to REOs. Once I got my first REO, I've never bought another mod (except that I keep buying more REOs!! Ha. They're addictive!) Anyway....I know it's hard to figure out how to invest your hard-earned money. I remember trying to figure out what I wanted/needed, and everybody has his/her favorite and will swear by it. The REOs aren't the only ones out there...but I will say that they're the only ones for me. Also, the REO group of people is absolutely awesome and soooo totally helpful. And Rob (the builder) is wonderful. He takes pride in his work and will always, ALWAYS back up his product. Also....REOs hold their value. If you found (impossible!!) that you didn't like it, you could sell it in the classifieds for about what you pay for it. Do more "lurking" on the Reos forum.....or better yet, drop in and introduce yourself....you'll be impressed with the people. They will answer any questions you have fairly and honestly.

Whatever you decide, good luck. No matter what, you'll love a bottom-feeder. It takes all the hassle out of vaping. Once I went in that direction...it was a game-changer. Now instead of trying every new tank on the market....I spend my spare money on fun drip tips.
