Some 11 year old kid posted in the new members forum the other night, stressing that vaping was the hobby he wanted to pick up due to family dysfunctional stress. Me and a couple of others chimed in before the post was deleted, telling the kid to buy a guitar.

There was also a post telling other vapers to report a YouTube video with a kid explaining how to trick your parents into buying you gear.

I KNOW this is against T&S but, how many of you started smoking prior to the legal age? There have been some pretty nasty comments left for these kids. They obviously have it set in their minds that they want to release some sort of smoke or vapor from their chests. Just like I did. Only now, there's vape tools. AS OPPOSED TO CIGARETTES. Which kill, kill, kill. So hey, except for your fright of losing your ability to vape, would you agree these kids may actually have a point?

Telling them they can't usually makes some rebel.

Better they get ahold of vaping instead of cigs.

Would be BEST if they didn't at all...but some do it regardless

I mean, if they get denied from their desire to vape, they're most likely just going to start smoking. It's a double edged sword, nobody wants to be the person advising children to vape, but we all want them to never smoke. What to do?

I would never encourage my kids to do either. But hey, my parents never wanted me to smoke.

Edit - I always loved smoking. It was inevitable. Vaping restored my breathing, taste, smell, ALL of that. These kids need direction. Unfortunately, it's illegal that do so here.

The children are our future. Their health counts just as much as yours does.

Its an alternative source for a behavioral and for Some chemical addiction, it is NOT a parenting effort reduction device.
There is literally no reason to give a child any product that is designed for adult use.

this forum has every right to dis-associate itself with minors

we can't save the world, man. the most we can do is save ourselves

I'm not suggesting we hand these devices out to children, I'm just saying that they have the exact same harm reduction as for adults. Tell me where that is wrong

And i know that my views on this will anger some people but its not like you have to accept that a kid is going to do one or the other, there was a time when you could sell cigarettes to minors and almost all adults would put down the kid the parents and the salesman to a point where it was not a common practice.

I had been smoking things other then cigs at the age of 14 picked up the nicotine habit at 15 and just moved on from there....parents never found out until they caught me with lighters and started smelling me but that was when I was like 16 already. Point being is its going to happen if these kids want and big tobacco companies aren't going to say no don't do it...kids will be kids

Until last November, I smoked for 37 years, beginning at the age of 14. Actually some before that, but I didn't inhale until then. That was back when students had to have a signed slip from our parents to smoke.

Mine didn't want me to, so I just forged my dad's signature to the letter. I was determined to smoke, one way or the other.

In hindsight, I wished that vaping was available then & cool like it is now. I don't have kids of my own, but do have a granddaughter, don't want to see her do either, but if it came to push or shove, would much rather see her vape.

However, her first or any experience wouldn't come through me.

i dont buy into nanny culture especially not for the sake of "saving the children." i dont believe children (or simply MINORS in this case) are somehow more valuable than adults *shrug*

Kids will be kids. So stop being a$$holes and forming committees to shut down their YouTube videos because you feel that you have to protect something. You cannot stop kids from ruining vaping for you. News flash. You are just like the ANTZ to them. Shame shame

If e-cigarettes are banned, 11 year old kids will not have the benefit of the harm reduction they provide. So let us take one step at a time.

Even if ECF's attitude may appear as "holier-than-thou" sometimes, it may also sometimes be the best long term strategy for all parties.
