Hey,

I ordered a BB from Altsmoke and it was shipped three weeks ago. Still don't have it, and the tracking number they provided doesn't give you any info. I think it must be just a customs # and not a bone fide tracking number.

My question is what do these types of tracking numbers usually tell you? All it says it that it was accepted at the post office on the 9th. That's it. Does it tell you when it enters Canada or anything at all?

I emailed Altsmoke a week ago about the tracking, but they didn't reply. :/

I had a similar experience recently. USPS tracking numbers only work as far as the closest US city they hit before the border. After that, you're in the dark until the package arrives (mine was almost 3 weeks after tracking stopped updating).

It's hard, but I find that patience is the only thing that works in this situation :)

To add to this, I got a notice for pick up from the Post Office, but the person they wrote down doesn't live at my address. I hope to God it's a coincidence and AltSmoke didn't put the wrong name on the address or something stupid.

That sucks and yea usps tracking is crap. tells you the post office maybe a postal hub and then it's at your door with no more updates.

ordered an SB from them about a week ago, shipped first priority. Same thing tracking only shows package being processed at the point of origin.
issue is when the package reaches canada a lot fo the times they slap a new barcode on it when they do the package becoems impossible to track
wait it out im sure it'll get there... i sure hope my sb will

I just got my omega back from altsmoke as it was being fixed. I too got a tracking number but today I got a notice from ups that it's ready to be picked up. But alas, I am out of the big city, I will have to call them I think on how to pick it up! I did not receive info either, other than the delivery notification.

took 3 weeks for my grand to get here and was probably a 3 hr drive away across the border from my house. if you enter the us tracking number in canada post website, it will say tracking is not available for this item. that's the cheaper shipping method. to get tracking you have to pay more. our shipping seems more expensive but we have tracking, even out of country with lowly expedited shipping

LOL I'm in the same boat.

Now just waiting....PATIENTLY...please excuse the caps locks :confused:

Edit: I figured out a workaround for the U.S. ecig companies to implement but am not willing to share it in an open forum.

Depending where you guys live in proximity to the border (I'm about 20-30 mins away)...use an american mail box company...almost every US border town has one or two...for those who know what I'm talking about bare with me, but for those that don't...google "The letter Carrier" or "Package Express" (in your area it may be different) but you can set up (on-line) a US mail address. Just give your US vendor of choice your new US address and when they ship the US mailbox company will receive and store your "package" (in some cases, let you know via email when it arrives). Then, boot across the line, stop off at your american mailbox company, show them your passport (for ID purposes only), pay your $3-$4 dollars and get your package...then get some cheap gas, take your sweetie to walmart and tell her to go nuts, by some crappy beer (no offence my american brutha's, lol) and off you go...declare or don't your call, but it's waaaay faster than customs, brokers, US/Can mail, bla, bla, bla...like weeks faster...

Just my opinion

I'd sooner just make sure that i have enough supplies at home and not really care when the stuff arrives, but my idea of a trip isn't heading to walmart to smuggle a few beers and a tank of gas not to mention like a $100 of contra band across the baorder ;)

As others have said, USPS will only update until it heads to Canada. At this point, though, you can track your package using the same tracking number on Canada Post's website.

Canada Post - Track - Personal Results List

That depends on the tracking number given by USPS. If its an LJ based tracking number you will not be able to track anything once it has left the US (and in the US tracking is spotty at best).

Here you go (from Dusty in another thread)

Tracking numbers starting with LJ and LN are issued to:
* First Class Mail
* Priority Mail Small Envelope
* Priority Mail Small Box

These packages are issued a tracking number but don't actually show you tracking information and usually take 2 weeks to get here.

Tracking numbers starting with CJ are issued to:
* Priority Mail Medium box or anything higher than small.

These packages can be tracked every step of the way, and are processed faster getting here in around 5 days.

Not according to this.
I've never had a CJ tracking number so I have no first hand experience.
