Um... why cat? You could use fresh litter and then just pee on it, no? You could control the application more that way. (hey, you went there first)

Easy access lol! And cat pee is almost impossible to get out of anything, it's that strong. Penny pee just couldn't compare in the strength department. And guess what? It's working! I just clear coated a door that sat in cat urine soaked litter for a couple of hours. I washed it well first of course!

It's often a subtle effect, but you need to be sure the egg isn't touching the metal and that the bag is sealed with a little air in it. It's the fumes that induce the change, not direct contact.
I saw one in another thread that was smashed into the egg and it turned out beautifully.

Gotta post my doors from yesterday and today. I'm happy now...I got my patina doors and no longer feel left out!

First door with the clean cat litter, salt and ammonia... (I also sprayed this door with a clear coat that has a tiny bit of glitter in it)

Second door in clean cat litter, salt, a bit of mustard and vinegar as well as ammonia...

And finally the door that sat in egg. I placed the door right side up on top of the egg so that the egg wasn't touching the top of the door. This way I could see what happened on both sides, with the egg both touching and not touching. Only the top of the door changed and here's what happens to copper when you let it sit in crushed boiled egg fumes for about 15 hours...

Pleased I am!

That's awesome, we have cats so I have both versions of litter readily available, I'll have to go for it once the door comes in

And it's officially in progress. I used silicone grease and a toothpick on the engraving and the rm2 grooves, and Teflon tape on the drip tip. I didn't take pictures of the grease, because I was all slimy, but it was real nice to brush on and clean up. Hopefully it works out. I got ammonia from my neighbor and it's ugly stuff, my eyes were watering in seconds. The lid on picture is as soon as I got it set up, lid off is my one hour refresh.

edit: forgot to mention, the rm2 looks fresh because my kanthal popped and that side was laying on the paper towel, I had to reset the wire and salt that side, the other side looks to be matching the rest nicely.
