Trolls show up on the back porch sometimes mama just checked em off with a broom.
After hanging around here for the better part of a year, in my opinion we don't have much to worry about in terms of planted trolls. The vast majority of ECF'ers are adamant about people not getting addicted to nicotine through vaping, so that seems to be taken care of.
Having said that, here we are extolling everything about the vaping experience for ex-smokers with for the most part no thought to vape reduction, nic reduction or quitting. People vape 10 ml a day and we think that's cool. Mailman stalking and buying every new toy as soon as it hits the market is accepted as normal to us. Seems to me that for someone looking in from the outside, we have already given them enough. Not trying to stir the pot, just saying ...

Yeah, something about that one thread, the mixture of sophisticated sentence structures and terms with text-like talk that sounded like a parody of a "buddy" of some kind, and add in how many of the concerns were 1. repeated after being answered and 2. strong echoes of ONLY things that anti's have been worrying about....made me wonder.
OTOH he claims to be making progress when he could have just disappeared instead.

Your freaking me out! I never thought of that. Those air bags are pretty powerful. Now that you have said it I will be thinking about that every time I drive. Perhaps holding it to the side is a good idea. I think I'll try that, heh. However, you should be pretty safe unless something hits your car. And, in that case I'm figuring there will be other things to worry about, like the cement truck coming in through your side door! Yikes!
On an almost unrelated note, just before I quit smoking I had a lighter sitting on my car dash in the hot Texas sun. I put a cig in my mouth while driving and lifted the lighter up and was just about to press my thumb down on the striker when it blew up in my face! My sun glasses (which got scratched and chipped) saved my eyes from the debris. And thank got there was nothing lit or burning yet or my whole head would have been engulfed in a butane-cloud fireball ! It was one of those "I just have to quit smoking" moments!
...I am totally paranoid in one regard about vaping. I have this absurd half-fear that the airbag in my car will malfunction and inflate while driving. Since the thought occurred to me, I have taken to vaping from the side of my mouth while driving. Sorry for any new paranoia this will cause.

More the most part I think most of the ECF trolls are disgruntled ECF members wanting to have a pop and not having the Cojones to use their regular member name.
What I disagree with is this:
Vaping is Not a Nicotine Cessation Tool. Vaping is a Tobacco Harm Reduction/ Smoking Alternative.
There is no information on ECF that is not available elsewhere, I would imagine if Trolls were to look for Ammo they could just as easily Troll other Forums too, some of those forums don't have Rules and lots of expletives that would in many cases help a Trolls Cause rather than here where at least we have some minor semblance of rational thought.
But if we enter threads with speculation and start judging members for questions we deem odd then that starts to affect Us and how We treat/ respond to new members. In some cases we start to act like trolls.

either way, when it comes to a person that has never smoked, if you are wanting to try vaping no sane vaper is going to hand you a kit unless they are 100% certain it's either vape or smoke....

Are we referring to a chubby, frizzy headed thing with a big smile and a gem for a belly button? Nope. Haven't seen one. Anyways, I have NOT met one nonsmoker interested in picking up vaping. God I hate the term "stinkies". It's so....cutesy.
But, I hate the words "onesies" and any "ies" or "y" ending to words to make them...well...cute.
Other than that, I've nothing more to contribute.
I've noticed the same thing. People asking all kinds of leading questions almost as if they are looking for the one or two inevitable "bad responses" to document.
The amount of outright trolls lately seems to support this as well. Someone is logging in through a masked gateway and setting up multiple accounts either to be annoying or for a more nefarious purpose.
i only become concerned when/if they are posted by members with roughly 6-10 posts. if they have hundreds or thousands im sure its a decent member trying to contibute. the lowe count posters asking stuff like that makes me wonder who at the fda might be posting on our forum.
I wish they would either raise the number to post in the normal forums to say 50 or so OR require verification before posting in the main forums, this would take care of that pretty effectively.
The 5 post rule is one thing. The next 20 posts of: "why can't I post in other sections yet" is infuriating.
From the answers given on some of these "questionable" threads, it looks like BT or the FDA are out of luck. How about if they go and ask how many smokers smoke in front of their kids? We see the answers out there everyday. I wouldn't worry about trolls on here.
I agree 100% and then some. In fact, middle of last week I stopped my usual routine which is keying up "New Posts" first thing because I'm getting really tired of it... what a downer. What used to feel like support started feeling like "Okay, another 'defend vaping' thread." I've even seen alleged vapers bashing it and pretty loudly. One with an extremely low post count wrote a "skathing anti-vape discertation" and I wondered why they're here. Yeh, I've seen what appear to be trolls converging about two weeks ago. Free speech and all that but its starting to feel like listening to xsmokers who've gone anti. Of those and what appear to be vaper trolls.... if you don't want to do it, don't but don't jump on your soap box. I'm all for open objective discussion of anything concerning vaping/health, etc, but some just have a "tone" after reading enough posts and I'm suspicious at this point. I believe vaping has increased my life span and quality of life and I don't appreciate this. I'm also concerned about noobs being scared back into smoking. Okay... rant over.
Edit: well not quite ;-) Now that I've read the whole thread, I don't think these trolls are operating in any official capacity. They're the same nut jobs who waged the war against smoking. They've just found a new self-righteous cause. That's why they sound like anti-smokers. That's what they are... well that and members of the nanny state.
