I think sometimes there is Association between an Addiction and what an Addiction can Cause.

A person can be Just As Addicted to using an e-Cigarette as they can be to Drugs and or Alcohol. But the Addiction to Drugs and or Alcohol can Cause Much More Serious Problems and have Much More Serious Repercussion.

Doesn't mean that the Addiction is Any Less with something Else. Just means that Ones Addiction can have More Greater Consequences than the Other.

... which is why, early in this thread, I asked OP for his definition of addiction. Never did get an answer. There are many kinds and degrees of addiction: clinical, physical, psychological, cultural, etc., etc. Many people will talk about "addiction" without really knowing what they mean and assume everyone else means/understands the same thing.

To Me, it isn't so much that People use a Word and Don't know the Meaning of it. Sure that does Happen.

It's more when a Person uses a Word that can have Different Meanings and the Context of there Usage doesn't make it Clear what Meaning they are Inferring.

Couple that with the a Person Hearing a Word and Thinking that the Meaning for them is the Same as the Meaning the Person who spoke it Meant.

And to Make Matters Even Worse, there are Many Times "Degrees of Severity" to some Words. Which can be Completely Subjective and Difficult to Quantify.

The Long and the Short of it is, Words can be Very Confusing sometimes even at the Best of Times.

I did not answer your question intentionally just because I assumed that most people basically know what an addiction is and did not feel the need to spell it out for them. But if you think that is necessary - here goes:

Here's just a few I cut & pasted from a google search.

An addiction can be described as:

"an unusually great interest in something or a need to do or have something"

"compulsive need for and use of a habit-forming substance (as ......., nicotine, or alcohol) characterized by tolerance and by well-defined physiological symptoms upon withdrawal"

"a strong and harmful need to regularly have something (such as a drug) or do something (such as gamble)"

I think we all know what an addiction is - and it doesn't have to be mind numbing alcohol or drug use - it can be something as innocuous as watching too many sports or reading too many books, etc.

You mean like the Poldiacs or Nemesis or Roller's, or Microstick'a, or Nahual's, or Prometey's, or Reo Grand's, or Provari"s. or Manu's, or PASSIONATE NEON PINK FUTURA's...

Nope, I'm fine.

Cross my fingers and hope to die.... :D

I bounce around on nicotine. I was down to zero nic, I got headache cutting down, but I wasn't ready to kill anyone. I still have zero nic on hand. I use 18mg nic when I drink my morning coffee, other times I use 6mg or zero. I can go full shifts at work without vaping.

It is a treat to me, like having a cup of tea, or coffee. I like the social aspect. When I smoked, I used to love going outside with the smokers, I would end up having interesting conversations with strangers. At work, it was bonding. Any old-school waitresses or bartenders know the money was in the smoking section, and smokers, for some reason, are easier to talk to. There is still that "award" sensation with vaping, without the stink and chemicals.

I have an addictive type personality. New sport, New anything and I go all out to explore all the best that my new hobby has to offer. Vaping has been a wonderful alternative, I got to give up my nasty habit and explore the wold of tanks and mods. I also quit analogs, an found myself more and more sensitive to nicotine, as I like to vape much more than smoking. So I had to cut my nicotine levels down to 6mg, just so I could enjoy the oral fixation with out getting jumpy or queesey. Seems like a Good nicotine/cig cessation product for me! No complaints about my new addiction. Plus I get to meet lots of new people through pubic vaping and questions, or just shoot the .... with people like me at a vapor shop in town.
