Okay... so I got my starter kit with two batteries, two atomizers, some blank cartridges, some pre-filled cartridges, and some juice. Problem is... the atomizer seems to already have some kind of cap on it, and I can't for the life of me remove the cap so I can put a cartridge on it. I'm twisting and pulling and it just won't come off. Am I even supposed to take it off? How can I put the cartridge on?

I read this title and wondered what could possibly be a problem! Alas!, the sticky shipping cart. I've had a couple that required Popeye to remove. I've eventually grown to like these tight fitting carts, as I like to walk about my job sites with my 501 dangling out of my jaws. The loose carts occasionally drop my unit. (unit being my 510 or course)

Why do they ship a new atty with a cart attached anyways? I've always wondered that!

Happy vaping,
Dude

Haha... thanks, guys. I finally got that blank cartridge off the second atomizer, so I think I'm good to go.

I think I'm gonna like this thing! Haven't had a cigarette all day, and usually I've had about 2-3 by now. I've noticed kind of a tightening in the back of my throat a little, but I actually kinda like it. Makes me feel like I'm really smoking. :)

JKBonin, howdy! The Seacoast area's not that far from here, I bet you're less than an hour away!

Ahh too bad, I was going to suggest what always works for me:

You might want to take a closer look at that atty that had the tight cart on it. I got one new just like that and when I finally got the cart off of it the cart had a lot of scratches (light gouges) on the plastic. The cart was catching on just a very tiny bit of remaining metal "pins" on the open end of the atty. I used a very small round file to lightly file down that edge and a couple of very tiny thin slivers of metal (one of them was about 1/4 inch long) came off. It looked like a super-tiny curved needle.

So if you notice the scratch marks on the plastic cart or have trouble getting any cart to go back into that tight atty, it might need to be filed very lightly. Just be careful.

I had the same problem with one that I received with my kit on Saturday. I could not believe how tough it was to get off and getting a new one on was very tough also. I couldn't get it to seat all the way down.

I ended up emailing back and forth with Terri at cignot and she ended up sending me an exchange on there Saturday truck which I received today. Great service as everyone said :D

An hour puts me just north of Portland. Windham-ish maybe. Along the coast anyway.

Vaping does take some getting used to. A definite learning curve here. I'm 2 weeks in and am just now starting to deal with some of the atty issues I read about. I only use VG base flavors and I'm thinking some kind of daily maintenance is in order. VG is a bit thicker then PG, so I'll be scouring the threads looking for a good routine to keep my attys in good vaping shape!

Congrats again. Don't be too hard on yourself if you still smoke the occasional analog. I still smoke 2 maybe 3 a day. Down from 40 or 50/day, I'm pretty damn happy! For me, I think getting an HV mod is gonna be the end of analogs. I'm saving for an SB, (Silver Bullet), as it seems to give wicked consistent vapor from a much shorter hit. Looks like it will be even closer to the analog experience. I miss shorter drags & am hoping the SB will solve this final hurdle.

Hang in there! And remember...

You cain't get theyah from he-ah. Love Maine-isms! Speaking of which, are you a native or "from away"?

I'm a native. Born and raised in Lewiston, and now I live in Biddeford, which is just south of Portland. Being a born and bred Mainer gives me the credibility I need to survive here. :)

So I'm on my second day of vaping and I've had only one analog so far. My goal wasn't to quit entirely, but to cut back significantly, and I think this'll do just the trick. I notice that my last few drags haven't produced as much vapor as it did when it was new... time to clean the atty maybe? Or just put some more fluid in the cartridge? I think that's what'll take the most getting used to, is knowing which components to maintain and when.

I'm working on a couple diners in Biddeford. Small world.

I'm still learning those differences too. You've vaped for over a day on the same cart? I'm mis-reading or you don't vape much. Highly unlikely the cart needs to be cleaned already. I just cleaned my atty out last night for the 1st time, so 2 weeks b4 performance suffered. Of course, ymmv.

I would say if you haven't filled the cart in over a day, that's the issue. And might I just add, wowzers! I guess I chain vape! I got sick of filling carts to get me thru the day, I only drip now. For you to get over a day from 1 cart is wicked good!

As I'm sure you've read, attys like being wet. Wet - goooooood. Dry - baaaad. I'll keep it clean and not mention the comparison I have in mind. :p

That would be PG, it dries out the throat. I remember the day I started vaping like it was yesterday. In fact it was way back in 2009 - almost 60 days ago :) I did light a couple of cigarettes since, took a few drags and felt sick every time, and that's after 15 years of almost 2 packs a day.

One piece of advice from one newbie to another - switch to the straw mod as soon as possible, or you're gonna end up smoking more fluval than juice. And buy a carrying case.
