Ok well I have done quite a bit of reading on this whole topic and I am want to purchase an e cigarette. The problem is..There are so many differing opionons and also so may different reasons that people decide to smoke an ecig. I need to know what model is best for ME! heres some info..

My Smoking habits/Why, when I smoke
Ok, I do NOT smoke cigarettes on a regular basis. I am a big fan of Cigars and Pipes..I just love the flavor and also the act of smoking. I do NOT need to have a cig that will be used every day multiple times daily..It is a rarer occasion that I will sit down and enjoy a smoke..

so the main reason I want an e cig is for flavor..And Id love to be able to smoke in the house..without the obvious health risks of burning tobacco.

My brother got a 601 from electronic-cigz and I tried it out...It was cool!! I was thinking about possibly getting that but wasn't sure if there would be a better alternative considering my smoking habits and reasons..I really like how small and compact the "cigarette" sized ecigs are but...Do the bigger models (the ones that look more like a cigar) taste better than the minis? Any and all help would be greatly appreciated! And if anyone has info on a good distributor to get these form that would be great...Im just afraid that I'll get a cheap knock off if i choose the wrong company (I HAVE read your distributors to stay away from list so I know not to bother with them)

THANKS!

I was going to suggest a 601, but you are already aware of it. Have you read DonDaBoomVape's guide to the wonderful world of vaping, in this forum? If not, its a great start.

Size does not matter so much with taste. But size does matter for batt life between charges. Flavor itself depends on the liquid, and there are 100s of flavors of all sorts out there. Good PV systems are the 510, kr808d-1, 801, 901. Mods exist for all these to have beefier batteries that last longer than stock. For who to buy from, stick with vendors that are listed on the ECF home page, towards the bottom. Look in their forums for whether people are happy or not, and why.

Since you are looking for an occasional leisure vape, I would go with a three piece, and actually a 510 or an 801. That will get you started with the ins and outs of vaping. Vaping is NOT low maintenance. PVs need to be cared for, liquids need to be added, attys need cleaning, cart fillers need improving, batteries charged, etc. Its NOT like having a pipe and some tobacco. IMHO it is better, but can be more work, especially in the beginning.

I think beginners should start with a starter kit of some model, like a 510 or 801. Learn how to use it and make it work well. Learn how it needs to improve for YOUR needs. But get a good atty system. I like the 510 atty, and use mine on a Bartleby, but I used regular and mega 510 batts for a long time, as well as USB passthroughs. Most battery mods take the 510 atty, but there are adapters to interchange almost all atty types.

All PVs have a serious learning curve, so I say jump in with a good basic model starter kit and a variety of juices, and learn the ropes. then later you can think about battery mods, but you will have the attys already. As for good mod models for your vaping interests, the eGo, the Tornado, the Janty Stick, the Silver Bullet, all use the 510 atty with bigger batteries. But you may find, like I did, that just the basic PV and a passthrough is fine for quite a while.

Good luck...and read Don's guide.

Thanks to Kurt for that plug ... and for providing you great advice (not my guide, but the other stuff he said;))!

Since he has pointed you to my longwinded guide (which you'll find in the ECF Library), I'd like to point out three things:

1. Read Parts 1-3 if you are interested in learning about vaping in general. If you just want descriptions and guided recommendations of models (depending on the reader's priorities), go straight to Parts 4 and 5.

2. At the beginning of Part 4, I provide a "Quick and Dirty Approach" for new vapers who don't want to do a lot of investigating. I recommended the Joye 510. I have since amended my recommendation to also include the Kr8. It is simple and doesn't require the high maintenance that most models do. You just keep your batteries charged and screw on a prefilled cartomizer. No fiddling with e-liquid required (although you can refill the carts if you want to). The newer cartomizers have improved, e.g., I've read good things about the "Premium" cartomizers sold by Vapor4Life and I'm sure others will follow.

[NOTE: If you like what you read and hear about the 510, but you want the simple cartomizer concept, you can get a 510 starter kit and the new 510 cartomizers, e.g., from LiquidXpress, LiteCigUSA, and VaporKings.]

3. Since I wrote that guide, Joye has come out with the eGO aka Tornado. It is a Joye 510 atomizer on a somewhat fatter and much longer-lasting battery. Visualize a miniture cigar, kind of ... and quite slick looking. It costs more but it obviates the need for accessories like a PCC or PT, so the total cost is about the same as a 510 with needed accessories.

My personal favorite is the other e-cig category that Kurt recommended: the penstyle (Kurt referred to it as the 801, but that's just one of the models). I happen to prefer the Joye302; many ECFers (notably the moderator of this ATE forum) rave about the BE112. Whatever the specific model, know that the penstyle is long: 155 mm (compared to the 112 mm 510, for example). I like that length (and how a penstyle vapes), but I respect that many people might be put off by it.
