My boyfriend is open to quitting, but the Blu cigs taste terrible to him. I also had him try my 75 watt sigelei mod and my Halo triton and when he does he has a coughing fit. I told him to take a slow drag, but he coughs anyway.
This guy smokes a pack of Marlboro Reds a day, does anyone know why he is coughing everytime? This is what is putting him off from trying to vape.
Thanks!

Most of the people that have tried my vape have done the same. You could try cutting the juice 50 50 with glycerin that would make it a lot smoother not nearly as much taste but it may stop him coughing. That's what I do to thicken the juice to stop my tank from flooding. It's a nice vape.
Vape on and live long.

Vey likely because he's trying to hit it as if it's a cigarette; short, fast draw, deep inhale -- which isn't the way to vape. He needs to take a slow pull using just the mouth muscles, as if he's sucking a thick milkshake thru a straw, hold it in mouth and throat before inhaling, and the inhale shouldn't try to reach his toes.

Also because cigarettes have chemicals specifically added to fool the body into accepting something so toxic, and obviously, ejuice doesn't have those topical anesthetics.

I had this situation with my wife, it took the right equipment and flavor to get her on board. She is currently using an Ijust2, she was able to make short drags of direct lung inhale and that made her happy. In terms of liquid she first tried my tobacco/maple blend but didn't love it. She asked for blue and red cake flavor but it came out too hot (the sugar I guess). Now she is vaping a coffee menthol blend that makes her happy. She's still having half a cig when going to the ladies room but we are working on that.

Well, the triton tank is not a strong device like a subtank, so it's not an overwhelming amount of vapor. Actually the triton should be closer to mimicking a cigarette. If you are using a lower 1.8 ohm coil, you could try going to a 2.5 ohm. Also, you might try some "unflavored" liquid to eliminate flavors as the problem. With the triton battery, it would be easy to try a cartomizer which might work.

Of course, he could be better off with something with more airflow and cooler, so who knows. If he was a pack a day full flavor smoker, it is unlikely that the nicotine level is a problem.

I discovered that everyone vapes differently AND everyone smokes differently. I was always a mouth to lung smoker so I vape the same way. My wife was a direct to lung smoker, so she struggled when she started vaping...kind of had to re-learn everything.

I was two pack a day smoker for over 20yrs...I too coughed alot when I started vaping...so much so I talked to my doctor about it...told him I quit smoking tobacco and started vaping...he said that my lungs were irritated from smoking and suggested they need a couple weeks to heal themselves... So to make a long story short I did not smoke, but continued to puff on a Provari/protank...after about 10 days I wasn't coughing much, and after three weeks I wasn't coughing at all...that was three years ago.. I no longer use the Provari because I upgraded in equipment, but I am tobacco-free thanks to vaping...and no coughing at all, lol

That's way too much vapor/airflow for a beginner, get something a iPow 2 and a Genitank and some 12mg 50/50 juice, smokers lungs can't handle taking that much in and to set a tank like that to a level that would work for them won't really be good for the coils and will flood...

Expect him to want to upgrade in a few weeks/a month though lol.

I think you're probably right. Trying to vape at 30 Watts like you're smoking a cigarette wil result in coughing without fail. It's hard to explain how to vape correctly. I usually emphasize the importance of aiming for the lungs, skipping the throat as much as possible. This actualy means that you have to drag quite quickly, which may be counterintuitive for someone who expects to start coughing.

When you first vape that will happen as you have to adjust to the vapor.

Best thing is to smoke it like a cigar first. Don't inhale, then slowly graduate to mouth then short lung inhale. Eventually you will be able to full lung hit if you want.

Most the nic is absorbed by the mucous membranes so he will get nic still.
