Trying to get to a test setup for the Reo

So I have a question for you guys. I'm trying to get a setup to test juices to use in my Reos, but I'm struggling. I have a v1 Provari and a Blackhawk clone I recently picked up in the classifieds, with a GP Paps clone in fasttech shipping limbo. I'm looking to use at least one of these as a dripper to test juices, but I'm having some issues.

My issue, basically, is that the Reo is perfect for my vaping preference. THe others? Not so much. I am finding the mods too ... harsh somehow. The blackhawk I understand, but the Provari is bugging me. I've tried various different builds on them, but no matter what, I just find the vape makes my lungs hurt, and doesnt give me the flavor I will get on the Reo. Even the high resistance builds required for the Provari feel too harsh.

Whats the deal? Am I missing something? I would think my 1.3Ohm build on the Reo should be more powerful than a 2.8Ohm build on the Provari? I'm not expecting any other mod to be as good as the Reo, but I at least want a comparable vape so I can test my DIY juices before loading up the Reo bottle.

Harsh and flavorless vapes are usually caused because the airhole on your RDA is not aligned with the coil.

Try playing around with your build and see if it improves.

Yea, I guess changing wick for each test flavor on the Reo and dripping is an option - though I am really looking for keeping my Reos for all day vaping only, plus I want to make use of these inferior mods, to save them gathering dust!

I'll have a look at playing with the airholes some more, although the amount of different builds in different RDA's I've tried I would think its something else.

Am I right in thinking that direct dripping into the RM2 isn't going to drip down into the bottle of existing liquid? Just in case I'm dripping a strong/disgusting attempt at a DIY juice?

Take the bottle off.

When I'm testing a juice, I drip 3-4 drops.. That should be enough to test.

For test dripping, I highly recommend the byLeo Dripper Pro for the ProVari. I usually do sample drips in it and then fill the REO bottle if it's a flavor I want to vape more.

Can I ask you, as someone who uses the provari and Reo - how do you find the difference between the two? Still trying to get a handle on why the two vape so differently. How is the Provari with regular RDA's as well, not necessarily the byLeo?

The ProVari is a VV regulated device, so as you change the voltage you change the heat in your atty which can change the flavor. One disadvantage with the ProVari is it will not fire a coil below 1.2 ohms and you will be limited in how high the voltage will go depending on the coil and current draw. I don't remember what the current limit is, but it is fairly low. Hopefully the new version will up the current output when it comes out.

ETA: I should have read your OP. With the 2.8 ohm coil on the ProVari it will be really cool unless you crank up the volts compared to the 1.3 on your REO. On the ProVari you are maxing out at 13 watts with it set to 6 volts. On the REO with a fresh battery you are using 14 watts and 10 watts with the batt @ 3.7v. Could explain some of the differences.

Go for the Mundy coil. It's wickless. You just burn all the juice off and drip another.

The smaller chamber in the rm2 is what is giving you that great flavor, try drippers on your regular mods that have comparable sized chambers. Also use less cotton to enhance the flavor.

The current v2.5 provari has a current limit of 3.5 amps, and a power limit of 15 watts.

With a paper towel, it takes me less than 30 seconds to change flavors.

I guess the upshot is I'm just a Reo kinda guy, and too wimpy for bigger RDA's lol. Still find it weird that a 2.8ohm on a Provari feels way harsher than a 1.3ohm on a Reo.
Looks like my non-reo mods are going to be gathering dust!

I find that for me, certain flavors taste better on the REO and certain on the ProVari. It's strange and I don't know why. It seems IMO, the REO picks up deeper flavors in sweeter vapes and the ProVari (again, using the Dripper Pro and that's usually all I use on it) picks up the sweeter notes. Example, I tried a Tasty Vapor Blueberry Pie..it tasted sweeter on the ProVari.

I'm still testing and playing around except I only have one REO and 2 ProVari so it takes a little bit the get through the bottle on the REO. But i want to test even further with comparable ohms, wick and juice and then see what taste better on what. I tend to vape a lot of complex juices. I don't use any other RDAs so I'm no help there.

Hi GOPH!! Are you talking the ProVari 1 or 2? The ProVari 2 you can actually go down to .9Ω. But being regulated compared to the REO, like you mentioned, there's a difference. But I feel the REO drops more than the ProVari so I feel like I'm swapping out the batt A LOT on the REO to keep it from dropping and maintaining a nice TH, flavor and vapor.

Absolutely love mine atop the REO mini. That's what I used until I got my RM2. Great flavor from this little thing!

There's been some excellent suggestions in this thread, the only thing I can add is fit a cheap RDA (top feed) to your Reo and use that for testing. That way, any test juice cannot feed back into your juice bottle. I tried a few cheap mods but none of them cut the mustard, even just for testing juices with a known good atty.

I think this may be the key - I'm going to try some atties that are too harsh on the provari on the Reo, to see how that differs. The feedback I am getting is that the Provari should at least be a viable tester, and certainly not as I am experiencing.
