I feel like the old Tootsie Pop question - how many puffs until you need to squonk again?

I'm sure it depends on how one vapes. But I'm half way through the bottle, I see it squonking juice, but getting dry hits after one or two hits on it.

Is my squonking ability in need of some fine tuning? Should I make a bigger cotton wick (28 g, 10 coil wrap on 1/16 drill bit with sterile cotton wicking), 1.5 ohms.

I've learned my fingernails get in the way and I'm pushing mostly with my nail (acrylic nails). Even took the cap off to watch my squonking - and I'm getting juice, just not understanding the dry hits today.

This is how I squonk:

While blind squonking tilt the hole toward you and when you HEAR the gurgle stop the squeeze. I find this much better than looking for juice because you can do it in the dark, in the car driving, reading a book etc.

You can also tilt the hole toward you and just draw on the drip tip (no squonk). If you hear a gurgle you don't need a squonk. Thats just a way of find out if you're juiced up or not.

^^^^True that. If the bottle is full or pretty full, I still give my squonk a good three count. If it's half full or less, I give it an even longer squonk. It's pretty hard to flood the RM2 because the juice drains back down, so don't be afraid to over-squonk it a little. I make sure my whole wick and coil is virtually submerged in juice when I squonk. I run about 1.2 ohms, and I actually only get 3 maybe 4 good hits between squonks. You'll develop a rhythm pretty soon and it'll become second nature.

Fear not my lady squonking will be second nature in less than a week. The blind squonk will give a few more hits. Blind squonk means turning the air hole to a downward position squonk while drawing on the tip until it gurgles. Quit squonking give it a sec to drain and start hitting count your hits and if it starts to get dry blink squonk again. After a bit you will know when to squonk by number of hits. Or you can look inside and make sure the juice floods over the coil. Now this is the hardest part ...... try hot to vape yourself into a coma.

+1 on the blind squonk. When the juice is under half full and harder to squonk I cover the airhole with my finger and take a unpowered pull until I feel resistance and hear that gurgle. Can use every single drop of juice in the bottle that way.
Just don't suck too hard or you get juice in your mouth.

If you're squonking and the wick is wet but you're still getting dry hits your wick might be too tightly packed into the coil, making it hard for juice to get to the coil. I like my wick to be loose and easy to pull from side to side in the coil.

I tried those...I have a better experience with a tighter wick. Knowing that I hold the bottle longer and let it soak. I get more hits between squonking usually too. Thin wick...I burn it. My habit is backwards for what they need.

Did you check your tube length in the bottle? When I got my REO, the tube was touching the bottom of the bottle and I wasn't getting a good squonk. After advice here in the Ville, I trimmed the tube about 1/8" at an angle - fixed and squonking like a champ.

Btw - I grew up in Columbus!

I put an upside down V shaped notch on one side of the tube to ensure length to the bottom.

Well, I noticed today, when showing a co-worker my new ohm meter (now I can make coils at home and not at the B&M using their meter) that the o-ring was missing.

I've fiddled a bit with the RM2, trying to figure out why I'm still sucking on dry hits - even changed out the cotton wick. Didn't want to re-coil until I got my meter (which arrived yesterday - but I had no batteries....grrrr) and I may have lost the ring during the fiddling....

In any case, I wonder if that's the cause of my problems. Lucky for me, I did order extra o-rings on my initial order, just have to get home to them.

And I plan to clean my RM2 and re-coil and wick it this evening.

Can I ask another dumb question? When you're vaping - do you want the air hole on the RM2 to be facing you, or away from you? It is lined up with the coil like it should be.

Away from you......totally 180 degrees away from you.

...to prevent juice from dribbling out the air hole if the REO is tilted during a vape.

Blind squonks for this guy as well, if you think the wick is bad bring it in this afternoon, if you can or this weekend I will be at the shop all week. It's possible that you dry fired the wick into two pieces also

Aha! So THAT's you! :p

I did switch out the wick of the mighty fine micro-coil you made for me - (and I got my oHm meter - it's reading 1.25 oHm's, not 1.5 like I remembered).

You know me - I'll show up at the shop at some point to shoot the you know what with you guys! Now that I have my meter, I want to throw my reading glasses on and see how good (or bad) I am at making one myself! ;-)

OK - so another dumb question - how do you make sure that it's away from you? IE, how do you get the RM2 seated so that it's away from you? I vape so that the button is on top when I tilt, and the tip is at the bottom - and my coil and air hole are both there too. It's the most comfortable for me holding it that way.

I thought that maybe having the coil tilting towards the bottom hole as I vaped might give me a better wet hit, rather than dry.

But that's why I'm here, to learn from you guys!

I've just learned to adjust how I hold the REO when I vape. There's a *little* bit of adjustment in where it lines up (thanks to the little o-ring), but I don't think I'd push it to 180 degrees. You can try putting a thicker o-ring in the cup, but I find it's just easier to turn the REO. OTOH, I don't see a LOT of difference as to where it's facing, so sometimes, I just snatch it up and vape however it's pointing.

Maybe someone will come along with a better idea, but that's what works for me.
