Welcome to ECF!!

I have successfully replaced smoking with vaping. I'm using an eGo, with carts,
and 24 - 30mg/ml juice. Give us a little more information on your experience,
equipment used, juice used, strength, etc... everybody here has a wealth of good
advice.

Don't be too hard on yourself, regarding giving up analogs, on the forum you
will find people that started vaping and never touched another, to others that
have a slower approach. A lot depends on how much you smoked and how
strong nic juice you're using. You may just need to make an adjustment in
strength, or possibly flavor, or a better quality PV??

It took about one and half months of 4-8 a day(down from a pack and a half a day) for me to finally make the transition. Getting a good 5 volt mod was what allowed me to make the complete transition. I also strongly suggest using at least 24mg nicotine strength liquid to make the transition. Hopefully you are not using a weak, auto battery PV. I would at least have an eGo type model for starters.

Hi and Welcome.

I'm one of those that took a little longer to switch over. Smoked for 30+ year, 1 1/2 PAD. It took me awhile, partly because i wasn't planning to quit smoking, and partly because it took me awhile to get my my nicotine strength right (24 mg/ml at that time. 15-18 mg/ml now). It wasn't painful or stressful taking the longer time. If you've cut down the number of cigs that you're smoking then that's a win. It's about reducing harm, and fewer ciggs = less harm.

I started with a kr808d1. It still works well for me. Of course, i now have a Riva and a Smokestick Hendu, but i didn't start branching out until i was about 6 months in.

I spent months smoking and vaping, it got me cut down from 2 packs to 1 but it just wasn't doing it for me. Then I found this forum, got an eGo and some 24 mg juice that I loved and I kind of quit by accident. Within 2 days the cigarettes tasted awful and I just didn't want them anymore. I still had craving but put myself on a 15 minute rule, if I really need a cig, I would vape for 15 minutes if I still wanted one I would have it but it only happened once and I couldn't even finish it. It's been 2 and half months and I love vaping, so stick with it,you will find your right combination of e-cig and juice.

I guess I was one of the lucky ones. I was not looking to quit and bought a cheap disposable from a local gas station on a whim. Found I did not smoke the whole night when I puffed the thing. Went back bought 3 more then a starter kit from the same manufacturer (which sucked). But within 4 days of buying my first e-cigs I totally quit. That was 4+ months ago. In that time I found ECF and have purchesed 510's, Ego, ProVape, Pre order ProVari, LR atty's, DIY flavors, nic etc. etc. etc. I have found that rewarding myself for hitting milestones is a great incentive to never smoking again. Best of luck to you and do whatever works for you. One of my collegues that I turned onto vaping took about 6 weeks to totally ditch analogs but as of last week he finally did.

It took me about 2 months of vaping to get off analogs completely. I was a 1-1&1/2 pad for 40 years. It just takes time to find your nitch with e-cigs. I found that I do best with a home made VV box mod I can adjust the voltage for the juice and atty I am using. My walk around is an eGo with cartomizer. So far this is the most successful method I have used to quit, and I have tried everything from acupuncture to hypnotism and everything in between. Nothing worked for me. Today is one month analog free and I feel great. I do still think about analogs from time to time but that only lasts a short while. For me I think I have found the silver bullet for quitting.

I had been looking at e-cigs for about 6 months... was intrigued, but not motivated. At the time was doing 1 to 1 1/2 pad. (had been as high as 3 pads) for 30+ years.

Then I found out I had a "silent" heart attack. Motivation was suddenly not an issue.

Got a cheapie from the corner market... was nice, but not sufficient.

Got a Magma starter kit from Volcano... that did the trick for me.

Since then I've been mixing my own juice... building some amateurish mods... having a blast. Not one analog.. but then, like I said, I was motivated. :)

Once you get the right nic juice, quitting should be not a problem.

The pv gives you the nic that we are addicted to and it gives the TH and the motion of smoking.
If you find that you are down to one or two a day, just try to convince yourself to give them up too. Once you go a day or two without the one or two, hopefully you never go back.

Stopping any habit is hard and takes a little willpower.
Make the jump and just trust us that you can get through it and never pick up a cigarette again.

I quit almost right away - I think one Tcig in week one and a few butts week 2. Week 3 tried one and coughed my head off and felt terrible - wouldn't touch them now and love my Ecigs.

Hubby took longer to totally quit although he went from one pack a day to one pack a week rather quickly. Now is about 5 or 6 days Tcig free. Hang in there. We started with v2 and have the Volcano Inferno on its way because I want to play more with juices.

Great advice Lisa- I like that rule and it is so true!!! At the times of my worst cravings, I would literally "vape my head off" and then find that the urge went away and I was perfectly fine. Vape all day, chain vape if you want, vape at a high nic content. I do all of these things and am VERY stressed with college, finals coming up, unemployment, etc. I NEVER dreamt that I could quit smoking cuz I have tried everything under the sun! These DO work and even if you use them to just cut back on your analogs, you will feel so much better. There's a BIG learning curve to work through also in both your equipment and in finding your "sweet spot" with the juice. Luckily, I didn't waste alot of $ in finding those things. Read as much as you can here, ask questions, and I'm sure you will get there very soon! I use the Joye 510's with the PCC and also a pass-thru for my laptop. I DO prefer the cartomizers instead of the atomizer/cartridge combo- they're just much more practical and alot less re-filling, re-topping, dry-burning......They can easily be filled with the "condom method" or dripping through the threads instead of the syringe and needle. There are tons of videos made about this. Also, check out Misstressnomads videos in the "new members" section- there is alot of helpful advice and info there too
Good luck and keep us posted, updated, and keep asking questions!

Oh yes- I have been vaping for about 3 months and quit the analogs about 6 weeks after I started vaping. It took a little while to find the right juice and to realize that most juice takes about 1 1/2 to 2 weeks to "steep" or age to get the full flavors. Alot of juice vendors hand-mix your orders for you and when you recieve them, give them some time to just sit

Make sure you use something decent. The e-cigs I had were inconsistent and didn't give enough vapor. I was almost done with vaping until I discovered other hardware and mods. PM me if you want more info. As others have suggested, a high nicotine content (24-36mg) to start with might help.

Once you've vaped for a couple days exclusively, smoking will taste so nasty you won't even want to anymore.

Best of luck!
