My wife smokes, but I refuse to try to push her into it. I know she doesn't like the way the gear looks, and that is part of it. She also sees it as 'fiddley' (SP) since I am a 'tweaker'. I know that she would like to quit smoking, but I don't think that she is ready to plunge. Patience and letting her see the positive effects are the most likely things that will help her choose. I am also hoping that as it becomes more popular and common, she becomes less apprehensive. Hope this helps

I'm 61 and my wife MUCH younger (ssssh...she's 58). We were both heavy smokers but really ready to quit, and had been trying various methods. I think wanting to quit is very important.

Anyway, my wife really enjoyed bling when she started. We began with cig-sized Volts from Smokeless Image. With those, she could get colored gem end caps and different colored batteries...so she "accessorized". I guess it's a girl thing...basic black was good for me. She's over that bling thing now...but it was fun for her when we started.

Be sneaky. What do cigarettes make her do that she doesn't want to? Does she have to outside to smoke? Would it be more convenient when watching the telly just reach down, pickup an ecig off the table and grab a few puffs? Does she constantly complain about high government taxes? Point out how much tax on cigarettes vice ecigs over there.

Thank you for everyone's suggestions. I am going to stop nagging her and offering her mine. I have orderd one from fast tech and that should arrive when I am away. I am going to order some of the RY4 of different PG/VG mixes. Might try her on the higher nicotine content first, If she can get over the coughing and can still get her fix I think it will make the difference.

The taxes does annoy her for sure! And she wants to be smoke free in her new shiny car, so I might suggest that if she gets used to it, It can be for the car only.

And if it fails, well i get a new battery!

Thanks again!

this is the one I got her, quite plain, but also not boring.

That looks great! My girlfriend would LOVE that one.

I was a little apprehensive of showing my eGo setup to my 70 yr old dad, but when I did he was super amazed and interested in this new thing. He eagerly wanted to try it, and after puffing on it remarked "Wow, its a bit strong, huh?" I think he was referring to the foreign throat hit, but it was a cappuccino flavored heavy VG mix with 18mg nic.

After asking him if he was interested in a setup he said yes, but he wanted it to look and feel like a cigarette and taste like a cigarette.

The RY4 mixes are probably a good shot for your mom, but I would stay away from the fruity-er flavors as those seem to be a little harsher and "spicy" at first. Set out some mellower flavors or get tobacco samplers to bait her with.

And don't be too pushy, that will just activate the defense mode and push her away. Just present it as an option and feign indifference. She knows whats up, she's just got the stubborn thing going.

Your dad will be on the egos in no time at all!
I still like my cig-alike just because its lower power so not as harsh even with the 100% PG . I have found 3 different tabacco flavours at a UK stockist that look promising, with different NIC levels. So she will have variability :)

Hello & welcome Pinkscampi :)

I'm at the opposite end of the UK to you ;D

I was a similar age to your mum when I bought my first e-cig over 5 years ago & I was a very heavy smoker.

If you are looking for good tobacco flavoured e-liquids have a look at Paradise Vape's range -

E-Juice - Tobacco Flavour - Paradise Vape UK _ Vape dont smoke

For other flavours Joose-Juice's 10ml tasters for only £1.49 are brilliant. (He does do a tobacco flavour but is out of stock at the moment) -

10ml Tasters - Items - Joose Juice E-Liquids

I had my mother try mine during intermission of a show we went to see and she coughed a lung up on the first puff. I told her she was doing it wrong and that we'd revisit it again another time. She understood, and seemed genuinely interested in it knowing that I was just as addicted to cigarettes as she was, and she'd seen me kick the habit with relative ease.

She wants to try them but didn't have the expendable income to buy a kit since her husband had just left a good paying job for a lesser-paying job after getting out of the National Guard. I'm going to get her an EVOD kit from the Dojo here soon.

Good luck with your situation. I can only hope my mom sticks to it like I did.

Welcome to the forum, Pinkscampi, and kudos for helping your mum!

Would you be kind enough to post a link to where you found that gorgeous battery? Woot woot want one of those! Will even pay for shipping from the UK if necessary.

Here's a link to Redheadfullofsteam. It probably won't help you with mum, but you might get a chuckle knowing you're not alone in your efforts:

Hi. Here is the link $10.96 EGO CE4S-KT 3-in-1 USB Rechargeable 900mAh Electronic Cigarette Health Keeping Set - purple at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping honestly its cheap and I think the one I bought was a Chinese one and the cost was about 3 times what this one is, I feel a bit ripped off but you live and learn.

Thanks for the link, I always love a wee chuckle. I am still new to vaping, so enjoy reading all the forums and info.

Zevyn - now you've kicked the habit its just trying to not spend every penny on new kit and e juice! ;) I think its that the power is too much, so too much of a throat hit, I know some of my juices I can only cape with one of my wee cig-a-like batteries!

Hi. I think I have seen you on one of the British forums, so hello! I have used juicejoose the other day and the prices and service is great, especially with so many PG VG options, its nice to see a seller who isn't taking the Mick! I shall check out your other link as well :)

Thank you for the link, Pinkscampi! :w00t:

EDIT: You have created a monster, Pinkscampi! Just spent 20 minutes browsing FastTech and found 4 other 900mAh etched batteries, in addition to the "purple & dots" you ordered for mum. One comes with a blue tank, one with what can only be described as "neon chartreuse," and two with clear. Have not ordered from FT before, but the floodgates are open, since I do love "designer" batteries that are more than the everyday black or stainless... Do I need 5 more batts? 5 more tanks? Absolutely not! Is that going to stop me ordering? Absolutely not! I've come down with shinyitis, which cannot be denied... :vapor:

I smoked my last analog about one month ago, the morning of my mom's funeral, and I wish I had found this ten years ago, for her sake. She had all kinds of ecigs around, vaped them in the hospital, but it was just not enough to get her to not crave, and sadly, light up the analog. I think it may be a mindset, and the addiction is not necessarily the nic or even the specific taste- maybe it is the specific feel, obviously I am only speculating all over myself. Regardless, it is almost like you would have to introduce a better option. Maybe a cheap little knock off ego batt with several cheap clearomizers with various flavors could keep her busy enough to forget about wanting to smoke. I would bet that nicotine is not the only addictive substance in an analog, although I never really cared. Try her favorite drink, try some candy, try her favorite dessert. I just got my first shipment of anything today, 5 flavors from MBV, ordered 4, they sent me a plum for free. I tried the arnold palmer, love it, and the irish cream. I only have 2 clearomizers, oops strike that, i just broke one, but i want to try all these liquids right now with only one tank. I spent 24 bucks on liquid, and im probably set for the month - Can't do that with analaogs.

There was a post earlier about just leaving it around for her so she can try it when no one is looking. I second that as she may not want to feel pressured and will try it in her own time without you around.

I also second getting her a tobacco ejuice and a fruit one. Put them in 2 different cartos so that she can easily switch back and forth to get a feel for what she likes without much fuss.

Also for vaping, you can't draw hard and fast on it like you would a cigarette, that causes a lot of coughing. A long, slow draw into the mouth then inhaling would work better.

It's a cute setup that you got for her and I wish you luck. I'm 51 and had a family member get me going on ecigs. If they had ones like that back then I may have started sooner than I did! :D

Maybe you could show her this thread too so that she can see all of the good wishes and support she has from people who've all started as newbies and are now all happy vapers!

Yes! its such an addictive website! I on a self imposed ban at the moment! I have to save my money not spend it! Make sure you post your new shinys if you get anything! :)

It is so much cheaper! I am going to stick with tabacco with an extra flavour for now. Not everyone can stop smoking, especially when they have been smokers for so long. Even if she swaps a few cigs for a wee vape now and then, every little helps! I have a make of clearomisers on the way, so she can try different flavours without any fuss!

Maybe you can show your mom this vid so she can see someone closer in age talking about ecigs. This lady is so cool :)

That lady is awesome! I have seen some of her videos on youtube, i would love to see mums face saying this lady is closer to her age ;) i'd get a clip round the ear even at my age! :)

Thanks, I think i will print off some information on vaping and how to vape properly, and if it all fails, at least i can say i have tried. It is her decision at the end of the day. Congrats on making the switch! it gives me hope! :)
