Not really. I don't mind some translucency as long as the delrin is not so thin that it makes the mod look and feel like a cheap plastic mod which I don't think John would produce if not up to his standards. I've seen pictures of white Penquins and they are a bit translucent but still looks like a quality mod.:thumb: I would consider black but I think the white would be more feminine for her. Peng if you have a closeup picture of your white penquin please PM me so I can show my little Queenie! Thanks!

I don't want to derail turbo's thread, so I posted pics here: Squonk Porn!

Peng, wiring isn't so bad but the magnets on the White delrin door on my white delrin Sunboxes was not very aesthetically appealing.

Oh, yes, I could see that. Having the CF door makes a big difference there.

ok I did finish all of these mods up to the point of ready for squonk hole status and I cut the 3 different squonk holes that I want to offer to you guys. now honestly this kinda complicates things a little bit for me because I have to cut these squonk holes before I do the final sanding, shaping and final heat treatment to anneal these before polishing them, so I can't just go ahead and finish them all at this point until I have everyones decision, but I think it's worth the hassle here because I guess everyone has their own preference as to what they would ultimately like for a squonk hole.

I could have just done them all as I've done them before with the front 3/4 squonk hole, or I could have just done them all with a side squonk hole for the most universal fit for anyone, but I really want you to be as happy and comfortable with this mod as possible. on the other hand I really don't want to delay finishing this batch either, so I hope that at least most will be available for a decision here.

since the squonk hole is now going to be tailored to individual preferences here this will probably add about a week to production. normally I don't like to take payment until the mod body is completely done and ready for just the electronics install which would normally only take about week from that point, but here I have to stop just before the squonk holes are actually cut to be able to individualize these like this, so this will add about a week to to that schedule, meaning that the mod will be done in about 2 weeks or so after the time orders are placed... after you place your order the mod will be personalized to your own desired specs.

ok, the squonk holes.... these are all right handed mods, meaning that when you hold it in your right hand with the button and screen facing towards you to fire with your thumb, the door will also be facing you and facing out from your palm as shown in these pictures of the mod in my right hand...

first is the new REAR 3/4 mounted squonk hole. this is my own personal favorite but of course I use a lefty version of this setup(which is the same orientation as a right handed front squonk mod in my left hand). I love the feel of the squonk hole being more towards the rear of the mod. it makes for the easiest squonk use in my opinion and it's what I would def recommend for those who are undecided, although I guess this does kinda go against most conventional mod designs in general too, so I'm not so sure how many will actually choose this more unconventional setup

REAR 3/4 SQUONK HOLE:
IMG_1603_zpsrpw5fspi.jpg

next is the much more conventional FRONT 3/4 squonk hole that is like all the squonk holes I've done before this point really. it's still comfortable of course and it's still easy to wrap your finger around and squonk

FRONT 3/4 SQUONK HOLE:
IMG_1604_zpsqzmlvn8n.jpg

and lastly is the side squonk hole. there have been several requests for this side squonk hole. personally I like this the least as far as the esthetics. it just winds up looking like some other mods in a way, and it does wind up having to be slightly larger than either the front or rear holes because more of your finger winds up having to go actually go into the slot vs just a finger tip. technically this squonk hole probably requires the least amount of actual pressure to squonk and it's also truly ambidextrous, so I guess I can kind of understand the appeal for some. def not my own personal preference though to be honest but hey, that's why we have choices in the first place I guess :)

SIDE SQUONK HOLE:

and here pictured side by side. from left to right is rear 3/4, front 3/4 and then side squonk

now of course all left handed mods would be actually be mirror imaged of these. for example what winds up being a front squonk hole in your right hand would actually be a rear squonk hole when you place it in your left hand and vice versa. same goes for you if you vape it all weird like Russ does, by firing it backwards with your pointer finger. this would place the mod backwards in your hand so everything winds up becoming reversed, so for someone who vapes like russ does, backwards in there right hand, he'd actually ideally want a left handed mod with a front squonk hole to vape it in his right hand and squonk with his thumb. most all of this current batch is actually right handed mods as far as the door orientation goes, but where you chose to have your squonk hole placed will determine how it fits in either your left or right hand.

I hope I'm not shooting myself in the foot here by trying to offer you guys this opportunity to custom personalize this mod to what you prefer. yes it does make things a little more complicated on my end and it will add about a week to the production time, but I think the squonk hole itself goes a long way towards defining the character and ergonomics of the mod and the in hand feel, so I hope it's worth it in the end :)

so now I'll say pick a hole, any hole :)

I'll be pm'ing those first people on the lists for there preferences shortly. if you don't here from me right away then that may just mean that I'm waiting for answers from those before you on the list so I know whats available by the time I get to you, but I welcome ANYONE ANYWHERE on these lists for a dna75 to just post up your hole preference and any other pertinent details so it can be added to the list. I want to give everyone time to respond but I also don't want to delay this batch much either. in the future things will be much easier for me if I knew exactly what each one wants as I'm building these. right now I do have only a few ambers with black doors and faces like Russ'es mod, 3 I think... most ambers are all amber, and I do have one black mod with amber door and face plate for those interested in black but these limited ones will go in priority of list order

After careful gazing at those pictures ( for a very long time ) I gotta say that I love the idea of the solid plank door!:headbang: I remember the REO woodvil having a plank door but it had a big plunger on it to squonk. The solid door with no cutouts or squonk hole corners seem like it will be very smooth sliding & sturdy, plus the squonk hole on the corner and built into the mod body seems very solid as well. All these benefits PLUS being Ultem truly will make this an ultimate mod! It will be destined for induction into the made in USA mod hall of fame joining PDIB, CC,,REO.... BIG APPLE !:thumb:

that black one is the used blem that was my own mod I sold to The.Drifter, he asked if I could upgrade it a lill bit instead of having the amber blem door :) it was his idea to go with gloss body with satin trim... I think it looks pretty classy. can't wait to see it with one of his amber ultem caps with a black ultem drip tip :)

yeah I've been playing with ideas like that, just ultimate sounds a bit presumptuous as in like I think it's better than everything else out there, which I really wouldn't want to portray that kind of attitude. that's why I was thinking ultem mate, it shows that ultem is the key factor with just a play on words that's just hinting at ultimate
