thanks for the kind words mike, glad you're happy with it :) the other one that was built along side yours was sold last week and the new owner should receive it Wednesday, hopefully he's as happy with it as you are :)

Bob yours is moving along, fabrication is finished and first coat of oil finish applied, needs to dry then rubbed and coated another few times, then I can install the electronics and button her up, so another few days...

Bob's is the African Blackwood here, the other 2 in this batch are a Bolivian Rosewood. these are both very hard dense woods and are a great choice for an oil rubbed finish, so this weeks batch are all an oil rubbed natural finish. one Bolivian Rosewood is a traditional brass chip cover and the other one has a lot of nice black streaks in it so I used an African Blackwood chip cover with brass trim. the black chip cover will use brass buttons to match the brass trim, the ones with full brass covers will use ultem buttons like last weeks pair unless someone requests something different.

both of these Bolivian Rosewood mods are available here and will be finished in the next few days and up for grabs. the one with the African Blackwood chip cover is a left hand cut mod and the other is a right hand cut mod. either of these mods can of course be used with the opposite hand too, but the door will be facing your palm when used in the opposite hand.

you got it brother

this week I'll be compiling the list for the dna200 mods, I know it's been over a month now since I started this thread but I didn't want to release any mods until I felt it was as good as it can be. now with the bottle door revised and the new 510 worked out it's just about ready or will be in the next few days. I'll be confirming everyone on the pre list and then posting it here and then finally start building the 200's.

I also hooked up with a manufacturer of stabilized wood blocks and wood/resin hybrids. they are processed the right way under high pressure and so far from what I've seen they seem to be pretty good. I picked up a few blocks from them and will have these available for mods here too once I cut into one and confirm they're really as good as they appear to be... I have a few blues and purples so far

oh, one more thing I've been thinking about... the video!

I guess some may still be patiently waiting for a video showing this mod in action, in particular pertaining to the over and under squonk design. how well it squonks, how easy it is to fill, etc...

I know I promised a video a while ago now but I've been holding off because of the whole new 510 and the whole offset thing, I figured it'd be best to show a video of how the actual final production version works, instead of a pre production version that will then be altered which may change things, so I'll be working on the video as soon as the final version is built which should be in the next couple of days. in the video you will see how well it squonks and how easy it is to refill this new squonk design...

Turbo, most likely I missed it but what was the reason for abandoning the bottom squonk style hole? Looked kinda promising to me for a pinkie upwards squonk. I did design and build a mod a year or so ago with a bottom horizontal bottle because of space constraints but didn't think of a bottom hole like that so I didn't like it because of having to poke at it from the side.

personally I do like the bottom style hole to be honest, I really haven't abandoned it, I just wanted to explore an alternative for those who may not like the look of it. I'm glad you mention this because I will offer a squonk hole in which ever configuration anyone desires, just wanted to show the different possibilities here. the bottom squonk hole is still an option.

same with the dna75's. I mean personally I really like the side loaded squonk hole that I've done on them so far but that doesn't mean that someone can't choose a different squonk hole setup if they want. if I had my way they'd all have corner loaded or bottom loaded pinky squonk holes but I guess not everyone would like the same so I'm just offering options here, just like the either left or right handed configurations. since it's a true custom mod built specifically for you I just want to offer options to really customize it to exactly how you want it to be. changes like these can really change the overall feel of using the mod.

Absolutely stunning work !!!!
Dayum, wish I wasn't recovering from vacation expenses would love one of your dna75s!
Loving my custom woody, you were right, regulated spoils you. No fiddling with cleaning contacts etc. Just been afraid to leave the house with it and damaging the inside electronics if dropped, as I have been known to do.
I now come visit this thread daily for vape porn pictures!:thumb:

rudy, I promise you won't damage the electronics in these things by dropping them, including the woody I built for you. wood actually insulates the electronics from the shock of impact. the worse that would happen is you crack the wood. been there done that :) but it's wood, always repairable, hell consider what your mod looked like before we rebuilt it :)

use the damn thing, if you ever break it I'll fix it for you for cost... same goes for anyone who buys any of my mods, if you ever break it or damage it I'll repair it for you for a very reasonable price of just what it costs me to repair it. it sucks to have a great mod and then be afraid to use it, life's too short bro, no one is going to appreciate it after you're gone. I would never leave my favorite mod home, my favorite mod is the one I carry everywhere with me :)

Thank you Lord Jesus!!!! You have set me free!!!!!!!!:rickroll:

I still love my CC too, best mechanical out there in my opinion. I just have found myself getting lazier and forget to keep up on cleaning contacts, buffing contact points, applying de oxit, etc. etc.
If I keep looking at your progress pictures I have a feeling I'll breakdown. Actually Santa season will be here before we know it ( scary thought), Hmmmm......:2cool:

I guess you were mislead by some of the pics. The side hole is the dna 75 version which requires only 1 battery. No reason to make it on the bottom. The bottom one is for the dna 133 which has 2 batteries and therefore save on width. Am I right?

Aal, he's talking about the difference between the very first mod I showed in post #1 of this thread and then the second prototype dna200 I showed after, with the squonk hole still low, but not wrapping around to the bottom of the mod

as far as mechs go, I have a lot of love for guys like peter and corey and the mods they build, would never have a bad thing to say about there mods ever, I love my CC and my dibi and treasure them both and mean nothing against them personally, I know they're very popular and people really love them to death, but honestly it's no secret to even them, I don't have the patience to use a mech on a regular basis. ever since my first dna20 REO conversion way back when I've always much preferred a regulated mod. just pop the battery in and a light touch of the button and instantly have full power each and every time. no contacts to constantly maintain and no pressing of the button harder and harder as the contacts degrade just to still get full power.

I used to hurt my finger firing mechs sometimes because the harder I squeezed the better it would hit. I used to have permanent indentations in my fire finger and my pinky that sat under the mod just from squeezing it so hard :) that's my favorite thing about a regulated mod. forget about the displays and the variable wattage and the temperature controls and all that other stuff, that's all just a bonus, but the main thing I love about an electronic mod is just a light touch of the button and "click", instant full power, consistently, each and every time :)

LOL, a serial button masher is on the loose and making mods. As much as I still love my mechs, ( especially the ones from the two colorful characters so mentioned) I too have become a big fan of regulated mods and especially those with temperature control. With that being said, there is something about the way a freshly charged, properly built and well maintained mechanical device hits that is simply hard to beat and I don't ever see myself laying them down to pasture.

ha, yes, I'll admit it, I'm a big time button masher, sometimes even when they didn't really need to be mashed, I always felt like more pressure would make a better connection so the harder I press the better it will be... I think I still have an indentation in my pinky even after all this time
