The first will survive. vaping regulations will harm their success. Actually, I think the first will garner more interest in vaping.
You could be right, only time will tell. I think the regs will hurt the smaller store immensely! The bigger store caters to cigs as much as vaping and that will probably keep them solvent through all of it

As a 20 something year old I find this post to be oddly insulting. I'm sorry that each generation has their own style? I'm sorry I don't dress in a polo shirt and slacks as casual wear?

maybe you should dress better!
JK, Don;t forget we WERE 20 too!!! I still wear jeans and ripped shirts and hoodies and anything else I feel like! I''m a hipster/punk/funk/blues/rock n roll kinda guy though...
I remember having my ear pierced and I WAS A REBEL BRO!!! HAHAHAHAHA

Even with all the billions reported to be spent on vaping, I don't think a vape only store will survive until the regulations hit and remove the competition from smaller operations. As long as gas stations and Walmart have basic stuff, I don't see enough volume to keep a boutique open.

Thank God they don't sell mods and juice yet!!! well...prices may be cheaper...hmmm...nah, let them keep the cigalikes:evil:

Jsea, Go back in (to 845)!! I thought the same when I walked in the first time. the second time there was a guy there who took the time to lead me into the juices, the third I started talking to the girl (she knows her stuff) about mods, tanks, RBA's, clearo's, etc..
The people at SH are really nice too, but...
They sell their stuff for almost double online prices, their selection of mods is limited. Their experience with them is equally limited. I think his lounge may end up being a really good thing! I also think his partner across the river maybe knows more and is more into vaping itself.
I don't know if you should go the 845's vape night, but be adventurous, maybe you will learn something too! Some of the "kids" are just that, KIDS. For them its a fad (the 20 something metrosexual, pants around their as ses description does kind of fit...lol). Some of the other people are cool people though and mostly helpful! As an example, I gave them a suggestion about the istick 50 vs. 30...guess what they ordered? They also got the VS DNA, and waiting on the SX mini and they have spinners and entry level mods and tanks too! They never pushed me even though they cater to drippers probably more than us old noobs:ohmy:

Stay away from the place on North St though...

What really turned me off about 845 the first time I walked in was the cloud filled room. I went back today and picked up some honeydew flavored juice. It wasn't cheap at $12 for 15 ml. I did ask about the price for the Kanger Subtank Mini and they told me that it was $45. That's the same price that SH is charging for it as well.

On the surface it seems that #1 has a better business model, but.... who is better able to adapt and evolve successfully over the next 5 years?

For instance, Calif is about to tack another $20/carton tax onto ciggies. How will that affect store #1? And how will they adjust when the vaping community moves from 1.5% of former smokers to 5 or 10% ? OTOH, there is talk UncleDearest wants to tack a 60% sales tax on harm reduction. How will store #2 adjust to, say, a decline of sales to under30vapers?

#2 is the more effective public-advocate for e-cigs. Every car that goes by sees #2's shop sign is not just another 'baccy shop - it's a vape shop. A reputable owner who stays focused on introducing vaping knowledge to the public, who helps drive manufacturers to produce better and safer, is an asset. What's owner #1 doing? Putting up sexier posters for Marlboro on his windows ? Adding a new line of hookahs? How is #1 benefiting the e-cig community?

If #2 is crazy-serious about repeat business (and all that it entails), and who's resident roosters are trained to be sensitive to creating a welcoming environment for curious older clientele visiting the store, then my money's on store #2. The e-cig community gets more punch for every dollar spent at #2 because those dollars buy another visible voice to push for better product and to stand against irrational regulation. Supporting store #1 gets me?

Boot cut Levi's and black v necks for me, generally with a hoodie or a flannel. It's hard to dress in skinny jeans and other styles along the same fashion when you are trying to conceal a pistol.

Last I was working in the LA area there was lots of shops but most were pretty crappy. Its the owner and their friends hangen out they seem to preoccupied to help you when you walk in. When they do help you if you dont have the cloudiest set up they look down their nose at you. Not all of them are that way I have been to some good ones Im in the Bay area now and alot of the shops seem to have overpriced clones and way to much for older less preforming gear. I went with a friend to a shop in Redwood city and 150$ for a MVP was pretty high.
But I found another shop in Albany and they had a decent selection of stuff grate service and prices were a little more reasonable. But at least when there are lots of choices you can find a shop you like.
My favorite shop was in Tuscon AZ they had lots of couches made the juice to order and pretty girls to let you sample the juices;-) It was a good place to just hang and meet a few people for an hr or two on a sat afternoon.
