The Ruyan E-cigarette and the Ruyan Vegas E-cigar use ultrasonic atomization technology to create nicotine infused water vapor that users draw as if it were smoke.

The only time heat is produced is during the cleaning cycle. If you have any other questions feel free to email me or post them.

Best Regards,
Dan

It seems the Ruyan V-8 pen style ecig has an ultrasonic atomizer.

The Ruyan V8 and Vegas atomizer's are composed of a piezo electric ceramic element. This element atomizes the liquid into a vapor via an ultrasonic method. Heat can be a byproduct of the vaporization process but it is not the process by which the liquid is vaporized.

This can be verified with an oscilloscope or frequency counter. ;)

Dan

EXCELLENT! Gonna run to Walmart to pick these up!!! :D

I'd love to see the results of this.

That is no ceramic element. In case of e-cig it would have to have at least 0.5cm^2 of surface area(in contact with liquid) to generate vapor. That assuming you would drive it with +-6 volts. On vegas only coil and steel wool around it makes contact with liquid. Secondly, I have checked it with a frequency counter and got no readout.

Jigtg,

I have reviewed in more detail the quest for the final answer to all of these ultrasonic questions. Your comments on the the Ruyan Vegas are correct and the picture you have shown is dead on the money. The Vegas does not have a piezoelectric ceramic element after I gutted one tonight. I stand corrected on the mis-information. I in no way meant to misrepresent the product and was glad to find such knowledgeable persons here in this forum.

However the Ruyan V8 does have a piezoelectric ceramic element and I verified this today buy gutting my atomizer. There is no looped coil like the Vegas and other E-cigs, the V8 is 100% ultrasonic with oscillating frequency ranges from 550 KHz - 8 MHz.

I would be happy to answer any other questions.

Best Regards,
Dan

The top left is the Ruyan V8 atomizer, I did not unwind it, it is straight, the piezoelectric ceramic element is the part that broke in half, it was soldered to the wire. It broke when I initially thought it could be a coil, when I tried to unwind it, it broke in half. The bottom right is the typical atomizer.

Thanks Dan, that is indeed unlike the designs we usually see here.

I'm not very technically minded so I wonder if someone could explain in easy terms how this ultrasonic idea could work. Ultrasonic humidifiers produce a cold mist that can be contaminated with viruses, mould, etc so I guess there must be some way of turning the mist into vapour? Is that where the piezo electric element comes into play? Would an ultrasonic atomiser create a mist and then vapourise it with heat?
