Ultrasonic cleaners and plastic bottles....

Hey everyone, this is my first post on this forum even though I've been scanning, endlessly, for proper information about the in's and out's of the vaping world. Well, I didn't realize there were awkward rules involving necessities to post a number of times before you can REALLY become a member.

Not to go off topic or really be concerned over that but I was wondering if any of you may know if it's ok to put plastic bottles in an ultrasonic cleaner. I was reading some post where a guy did that and one of his liquids tasted like plastic. Is that possible? For an ultrasonic cleaner to diminish the integrity of the plastic and have some of that integrity meld into the e liquid?

Just wondering because I just bought one off of Amazon and I'm about to get it Monday but I don't want to make a dumb decision with my NET HHV e liquid. Please, anyone who has the knowledge let me know. Thanks!

BTW--LOVE THIS FORUM! This won't be my last post.

No I'm going to use my UC to speed steep my e liquid and was wondering if it's ok to put the plastic e liquid bottles in there without damaging the plastic. Just don't want my e liquid to taste like plastic.

Is that possible for the plastic to meld within the e liquid. I mean do all who use uc's to steep the liquid, put the liquid in a glass beaker or glass container.

BTW--heard uc's work dreams on cruddy atomizers. Might be food for thought? : )

Ok heres what I got and what I think.

From the wiki Cavitation - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Non-inertial cavitation is the process in which a bubble in a fluid is forced to oscillate in size or shape due to some form of energy input, such as an acoustic field. Such cavitation is often employed in ultrasonic cleaning baths.

I use an ultrasonic machine at work. I work at a hospital and we use ultrasonic cleaners for surgical instruments.
The cleaner at work has water at 110 degrees and an enzyme solution inside.
I suppose the theroy is that an ultrasonic cleaner is used to mix ingredients better in ejuice. So if using a cleaner to mix your ejuice with warm water makes the juice less viscous and the sound waves should mix the liquid and not damage the plastic container it could be possible to mix it up.
I know that things that are made from plastic don't clean very well. I doubt you would have something at home as strong as the ultrasonic cleaner we have at work. Oh and this the lowest time setting we use at work is 5 minutes I think the highest setting is 18 minutes. I do have to add you wouldn't want to use an enzyme solution at home. Sorry had to say that just in case someone thought they had to have it.

Thats all I got.
Good luck

I keep forgetting that people use UCs for steeping juices...

The liquid you use in the UC is far more likely to affect the plastic, than it is for the UC to degrade the plastic. UCs certainly will not clean a plastic bottle; they weren't made for that.

IMO, it's best to use a warm bath to steep liquids. I have a recirculating heater that would be perfect for this, but I'm in no hurry. You could leave the bottle out on a hot sunny day, and that'd probably be just as effective. Cap off for acidic fruity flavors.

I tried a UC on a crudded coil, and it had no effect. I'd try a dry burn, after a hot rinse. Results may vary, with the juices.

Sorry, I read the OP's follow up, you're talking about steeping in it. I've never personally done that, but I've seen many, many posts of folks doing it without issues, and never heard about a caveat doing this with plastic bottles. Considering that most juice comes in plastic bottles I'd think people would have complained about it.

Sorry if my post was misunderstood or confusing.

I wouldn't use an US to mix or speed steep ejuice. I was just chiming in on my personal knowledge of an US. Maybe something I knew would help the OP.
Personally I think if I wanted something to steep that would take time. Now if you wanted to mix ejuice maybe the US might help? I wonder if it would even make a difference to use it to mix ejuice.

Put the bottles in plastic baggies first to preserve the labels. I have read posts where the juices were steeped both tops on and tops off. Depends on the view of the poster. Post enough to get your 5 posts and then go to the eliquid forum. Lots of posts about steeping and ultrasonic cleaners around here.

Thank you all for your replies. I really appreciate it. I would do the time thing and patience is a virtue but I'm kinda frustrated as to how long it takes for tobaccos. I mean you buy three months ahead of time and try a tobacco you don't like, a month later, then you order more of another you hope to like, and maybe like it two months later. Being that I buy bulk, I don't like waiting an extra amount of time for bigger bottles to steep.

I don't think I'm being impatient, in fact I think I'm working harder to steep my juices with constantly getting up and getting up again to US my juices. I mean I could wait, but I quit smoking for good and quit about two months ago and even though I will never touch a tobacco product again, I want my juices to taste good. Anything is worth a try, in my book.

The warm bath helped a little, and I gave my juices many warm baths over a period of a week with vigorous shaking when they were warm. Like I said, it helped a little but not as much as I liked. Now to the USC, it may work, it may not. Time may truly be the ultimate steeper, just like wine. But, if it can help mix it a little bit and clean my atomizer heads than I'm happy.

Tomorrow I'll see how it goes. Will post back after I give my juices an hour of vibration because they've already steeped for three weeks and are already pretty damn good. Legend by HHV is awesome. Anyone try Huntsman or Dark Horse by her? Those are the next two for me.

Also, another question--does 70pg/30vg still have a pretty thick viscosity? I mean will I still get good clouds of vapor with that? Just don't like putting 50/50 in my tanks because it takes forever for the vivi nova or the protanks heads to prime.

Also my opinion of the protank 2-- why is it that these professional companies can't makes the threads straight? My protank 2 leaks because when the head screws in it screws in un-centered and it leaks. If I look at it upside down, not screwed into the battery, the head isn't centered with the base and no I didn't screw up the threads. I'm a mechanic. I just can't believe that these Chinese or whoever is making these tanks can't make them right. Because the head is uncentered, when the vacuum begins in the tank, the o-ring on the head isn't sealing as properly as it should. Sucks because I like that tank a lot and do prefer it the v-fate nova but the v-fate nova doesn't leak though. No one wants to deal with a leak. Anyone try the GS V Core tanks. If you have you know what it's like to have a professionally made tank and they are made in China too.
