I went to one of the B&M e-cig stores here in Naples yesterday, and was told by one of the guys behind the counter that my Vision 1300 spinner battery was not safe to use with my Kanger Pro tank, and that I risked it blowing up on me or catching fire. I had just put a 1.8 Ohm coil in it and was getting good vapes with that, and being quite happy about it too, but here's this young fella telling me I risk it blowing up in my face or setting me on fire.

Well I have to wonder of course if he's not just trying to sell me a very expensive mod that I can't afford. I've spent a lot of money on vaping in the month since I started that and quit tobacco, and I'm not rich at all. I really like my pretty green Vision spinner battery with my Kanger ProTank on it, it looks nice and gives me good vapes. While I'd like to have one of those nice mods I just cannot afford one at present.

So, can anyone comment on this one way or the other? Is it really dangerous to use this battery with this tank?

He's insane, protanks come with a skirt for ego style batteries. What does that tell you? Maybe a cloned protank could cause some issues if it's not built properly but that's not a protank.

While no battery is 100% safe, I haven't heard of any issues with the vision spinners. Did he give you any reasons why he thought your battery was unsafe? I know some of the Kanger EVOD batteries had issues due to manufacturing problems. With an atty at 1.8ohms you are safely within the bounds of what your spinner can handle, I probably wouldn't go lower though. Also, be careful with the protank heads, I had one with a tiny bit of wire poking through the rubber grommet and it shorted and killed one of my ego batteries. Be mindful of your batteries, if they get hot, stop using them, and take the atty off.

Sitting down, facing forward.
While I'm not an expert with batteries and have never used a Vision battery, given that it is VV(assuming I have looked at the right one) I wouldn't be too worried. The battery capacity is, supposedly, 1300mah, which technically means 1300mah for an hour. What the maximum discharge rate might be is a good question, but I suspect it is above what your 1.8 ohm coil is drawing which would be about 2.5 amps assuming a 4.6 volt setting.

As long as you, or someone else, have not modified either of these devices you are good to go. There is always the chance, no matter how small, that your device, or anyone's device, could malfunction and cause a problem, but honestly that chance is extremely small.

On the other hand, I think it would be much more hazardous for you to visit that store again, that sales person was either very much misinformed, a liar, or stupid.

Bit harsh, but my sentiments exactly, using slightly more diplomatic language...lol. Btw, ego's have circuits with the standard 4 protections built in. You can't get much safer in the vaping world.

Yeah I know I was a little harsh, sorry if that offended anyone, merely trying to emphasize my point. It's just that I expect a little more professionalism from sales people in vaping stores than what you typically hear at the mall vaping kiosks. I had a similar experience in my local B&M shop a couple of weeks ago, perturbs me greatly, to say the least.

I hear you Brother and totally agree. It was not a criticism, but more my way of telling you I agree with you, capiche? When something threatens my vaping world, I get very defensive. Don't mess with us, right? Best to you!

It's cool man, I took it exactly as you intended, no muss, no fuss. I do know that I can come on a little strong some times, but heck that's what my friends love about me, you always no where I stand. :toast:

I always find it rather funny to hear someone behind a counter telling me that they're cig-alike/ cartomizer combos are the equivalent of a pack of cigarettes, or that what they sell is better than what I have (regardless of the PV they're trying to sell me- half the time is a cloned something-or other-anyhow.) It really sounds like to me this guys was either:

A) misinformed about the recent issues with the kanger evod batteries, and couldn't idenitfy yours as a non kanger.
B) Certainly trying to sell you a PV that they likely mark up 100%
C) Using scare tactics to make option B a reality.

I'd just steer clear of the place. I'm sure his next line was to try and sell you some blinker fluid for your car as well... helps them to turn better after all!:p

I used my vision spinner for a long time before getting my current "main PV" and used evods, kanger t3s, vivi novas and protanks on them. Never once did I ever have an issue. Like someone said, the protanks even come with a skirt to make them look better on an ego battery.

Okay, all of that is pretty much what I thought, and thank you all. I run my Vision 1300 MaH at 3.4 to 3.6 volts with the 1.8 ohm coil and that seems to be working just fine. I'm a chain vaper so the Kanger ProTank does get a little warm at times, but the battery never does, and yes, I think that young man behind the counter was indeed trying to scare me into buying a pricey PV. He certainly did get his cookies off on showing them to me and bragging them up.

So thank you all who responded, I do appreciate the feedback.

Sure thing!

Always best to stomp scare tactics as where and whenever possible. And I wouldn't worry about the atty part getting warm, the protanks are metal after all, and will heat up... heck, my drip tips in my carto tanks can get warm sometimes. As long as the battery itself isn't getting overly warm, you're good. As a heads up though, be aware that the protank's heat can transfer to the juice and make it "runnier", so if you're having issues with one leaking or gurgling, slow down a bit, usually clears it right up.

Thanks JL, now I'm having to wonder why my subscription to my thread here was removed. Hmmmmm.... Also, I can't put up an avatar pic either, there's no way to do it in my settings or profile. I guess as a new member I'm just low class here.... hmmmmmmm.....

You need a few more posts before you can add an Avatar. Someone will remember. Either 15 or 20 posts. An hour later, or less, you can post an Avatar and Signature Banner. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong. Won't hurt my feelings.
