Unfortunatley, nicotine in now synonymous with smoke. This provokes a knee-jerk reaction in even educated people. Nicotine by itself is a stimulant and a vaso-constrictor. In many ways it acts like caffeine. I am not a chemist, so please chime in if you can provide better info on nicotine. Bottom line, we need to force people to divorce nicotine from the smoke.

Haven't got to see my PCP and am going to be switching this year anyway. From what I know about the new doc I'll be seeing, she seems like she'll be a supportive type (and willing to learn).

I have a dentist appt on May 12th, though, and I know my dentist will be ECSTATIC! Especially since she knows my firm position on the idea that I just don't want to quit smoking. She's learned not to even bother saying anything about it. So this will be a BIG, and welcome surprise for her! And as far as a dentist is concerned, it's definitely tobacco issues for them (staining of the teeth, etc). She's also really willing to learn about anything, and respects that I am an educated person. I love her so much I recommend her to everyone! :) So, yes, VERY excited to tell her at my next appt!
