KDK- What kind of snus did you use? The only one that I like is the mini mint by General Snus. (swedish company) Not salty and really pretty good and mild.

Sounds like this guy wants to profit by putting us right back where we were with analogs...Originally Posted by Rosa
I think the main problem is that they add something to the tobacco to make your body absorb it faster and THAT'S what makes it so addictive. It's like freebasing nicotine. When we vape we only absorb a portion of the nicotine that we inhale - and we absorb it much more slowly.
Nicotine - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
QUOTE:"Technically, nicotine is not significantly addictive, as nicotine administered alone does not produce significant reinforcing properties.[41] However, after coadministration with an MAOI, such as those found in tobacco, nicotine produces significant behavioral sensitization, a measure of addiction potential. This is similar in effect to amphetamine.[42]"
Does that mean that I am crazy or deluding myself? Because I can't seem to go below 8mg in my e-liquid without getting depressed, and I'm not using snus or anything else at the same time. I've tried a few times now, but it hasn't gone well. I did try to use snus at one point, but it was awfull IMHO, way too salty in taste and made me feel sick and I still got depressed.
No, it just means that you need more of the nicotine and not the other stuff. I believe Moonrose is the same as you - if she goes below 8mg she has negative effects, as well. There is absolutely nothing wrong with you and shame on the anti-tobacco crowd for making people shamed to need something to make them feel better!

As for myself I hope they proceed with the lobelia version as I want a effective E-cigarette but I want to be rid of nicotine.
Having said that I do understand that most people here will prefer a nicotine version with the aspects they enjoy from tobacco.
Maybe both ?
Why is it important to you "to be rid of nicotine"? Do you drink decaffeinated coffee too?
Not a coffee drinker
I'll limit my vices to Rum and Chocolate
A lot of people smoke because they are suffering from mild depression - they are self medicating. MAOIs are used to treat depression.
For people like this, e-cigarettes have "something missing" and they may end up going right back to smoking. While I was able to switch immediately, my husband was one of those who found "something missing" and couldn't give up the smokes. Once we got him some Swedish snus (for the MAOIs,) he supplimented the e-cig "smoking action" with the snus and he was finally able to give up analogs.
MAOIs in e-cigarettes would make e-cigarettes a lot more effective for a lot of smokers.
Remember - it's the SMOKE that is deadly. MAOIs and nicotine aren't what causes disease and death. We all smoked (now vape) for different reasons and MAOIs may play a higher role than the nicotine for some smokers. If you are using e-cigarettes to wean off nicotine, then you may not want MAOIs, but the MAOIs really only effect the people who need them.

If they did this right there would be nothing added to the liquid as this would just be an extraction of the full range of alkaloids found in tobacco. That's what you get when you smoke a cigarette (or use snus). A full extraction has actually been done by DVap, an ECF member. Not sure if this is what the patent is about as they only mention one alkaloid while the full range consist of a good deal more.
Some of us have been calling for a whole tobacco alkaloid liquid for some time as it would be a good deal more effective in getting people to quit smoking then the current nicotine only liquid. Hopefully DVap will spot this thread and drop in as no doubt he could give a good deal more information on what the patent is about.
As for putting us back to where we were with cigarettes, I fail to see the connection. As mentioned by Kristin, it's the smoke that kills, not the nicotine, or whole tobacco extract liquid, or even the snus.
The application is awfully vague.
This seems to be describing a tobacco cartridge that is put in contact with a water/alcohol/glycerin/PG/etc solution to try to pull out nicotine, other alkaloids, and anything else in the tobacco that might come out.
In short, they want to patent the tobacco soak...the only thing that's remotely new would be the tobacco being soaked at time of vaping... and it would seem that Ploom has a jump on this with their tobacco/glycol capsules.
As far as extracting nicotine and some other MAOI(s) to enhance the efficacy in keeping someone off cigarettes, I've got them beat by over a year on that one, and others here and likely elsewhere are messing with similar.
Prior art seems to be present here, there, and everywhere... much of what they describe has already been done and for the same reason(s) they give in their application.
There is something about a Chinese company applying for a patent that sounds like the punch line to a joke.
The original point of this thread was these new pending patents are unusual in that they appear to be a joint venture (guessing) between Ruyan America and Nicotine Water and not the chinese inventor of the Ruyan patent.
What the relations between the parties are is still not know.
I recieved an E-mail reply from Nicotine Water that they are indeed working with Ruyan America on E-cigarette formulations
that will comply with FDA regulations.
Nicotine Water
I tried to contact Ruyan America but their website is still down.
