UPDATE on My Brother

has anybody heard anything? i thought they were planning to operate either wednesday or thursday

PRAISE GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Dan went into surgery at 9 am this morning and went to recovery at 3pm. Six hour heart surgery. He had his aortic valve replaced with a mechanical one, he had the other valve repaired and the hole (the size of a dime) closed. The monster didn't win!!!!!! He is in the critical care unit - but he is ALIVE!!!!!!!!! We can't stop yelling for joy - crying a bit too.
PLEASE everyone- if you have any pimples or boils, DO NOT SQUEEZE THEM!!!! The infection to your heart can kill you!!!!!! I know it sounds far fetched, but it happened to my brother.
Dan will be on blood thinners the rest of his life. He will also have to be diligent about avoiding ANY infection - even minor because he can end up right back getting more valves replaced - even the mechanical one. (Heart valves can not fight infection because your white blood cells can't stick to the surface of the valve - but the infection bugs can - sneaky b@sturd$)

Your brother is one tough cookie!!!! Sounds like your whole family is too!!! Glad the suns finally shining a bit for you and your family. Keep us posted on his recover. Better yet, have him come post and let us know how hes doing when he feels better.
