I'm new to vaping and I was hoping to get some upgrade advice, it's all a little overwhelming. I don't really want to spend a ton of money but I also don't want to end up having to replace something that doesn't meet my needs.

I've been a smoker for about 25 years and until I started vaping a couple weeks ago I was a pack a day smoker. I picked up a Joyetech eRoll kit and have been able to cut down to 2 smokes a day which is much better than I was ever able to do using gum or patches but I feel like the eRoll just isn't cutting it. I'm constantly filling the tank, charging it, or dealing with leaks which is annoying and I would also like more vapor.

I was looking at the Evod starter kits because of their simplicity and because the tanks and batteries are much larger but when I talked to the guy at the local B&M he said that I wouldn't get any more vapor from the Evod since they are both at 3.7v. I'm not sure how correct that is because you can get 1.8 ohm coils for the Evod vs 2.3 ohm attys on the eRoll but it got me looking at more advanced setups. I asked about the iTaste VV and he tried to steer me towards the MVP2 and IPV3, both seem like good devices but a box mod is about the least desirable form factor to me.

Despite being a box mod of sorts the eleaf iStick is tempting based on price and features, however it does have a couple of issues and I'm starting to think that I want something with a replaceable battery. I've also been looking at the eVic, Vamo 5, and Provari v2. The Provari appears to be the best hands down but with the price to match, the eVic is the best looking IMO, and the Vamo is the most affordable. One thing that's a little confusing is that most manufacturers recommend a specific brand of battery but I've seen several people say that the sony vct4's are the best to use, and is flat top vs button top something to pay attention to? Any advice on the models mentioned would be appreciated.

Tanks/Attys seems to be another can of worms so I'm thinking about starting with the Nautilus Mini based on popularity and going from there.

TIA for any input. The post didn't go through the first time and I had to retype most of it so hopefully it works this time, I did save a copy this time so I'm already learning.

Hi,

I started vaping almost two years ago. I started out with a Vamo II stainless and a 510 carto tanks. I still use my Vamo II and a 510 carto tanks every day at work. I have graduated to some pretty high end mods and RBA's in particular Kayfun's. I highly recommend Sony battery you mentioned. Get a good battery charger like an Xtar VP1. Good Luck!~

Yeah, I'd really rather stay away from the box mods. Is the Provari really worth so much more than the evic and vamo? I know it's better quality which is something I'm willing to pay for I'm just having a hard time with 2-4x the price.

I bought 5 of them ... they're all working the same ... They're still worth fair money if I wanted to part with any of them.

I vote worth it.

A few quick thoughts. First of all, you can get an eVod battery (or other eGo-class battery like eGo-C Twist, Vision Spinner etc.) that offers variable voltage--I'm surprised your clerk didn't tell you that. If you like the form of an eGo--get one of those. You can vary your voltage from 3.2 to 4.8v on all of them by simply turning the dial located at the bottom of the battery.

The MVP2 is more advanced than vv batteries--it offers 2600 mAh, variable voltage and wattage, ohms reader, and can be used as a passthrough (you can vape while it's charging). If you don't like the box shape, iTaste VV V3 offers the same features as the MVP2 in a small (eGo style) form, but the battery is only 700 mAh.

If you're looking for an APV with replaceable batteries, a Sigelei Zmax (get the stainless version) is good and inexpensive--not as good as a Provari but can be had for a fraction of the price.

Good luck!

I am new to this as well and just upgraded to a itaste vv and I like it pretty well. I also have an ego twist and that one is a good battery as well. I have no regrets with either of these. I also just got the nautilus mini and it is a nice tank, well worth the money.

I know you are against the box type batteries as am I but am seriously looking at the eleaf istick. You may want to take a look at it as well.

I haven't tried a provari but people swear by them and if I could afford it then I would go that route. Good luck!

Try the VAMO V5 its pretty reliable for the price and full of features. I own an MVP V2 as a main device I thought i would hate the box mod style too but once i used if for a couple of days i fell in love with it now most of my MOD are box mod style. box mods have a couple of little differences that are not talked about much like you can set it on a desk also you don't need a charger or batteries you just plug it up and that's it but its not as powerful as the VAMO V5. Aspire Nautilus Mini is the best clearomizer in my opinion right now. Good luck on your Upgrade!

You're on the right track, anyway, for a better vape!
MVP2 - well vetted, proven, people love it
iStick - similar, lots of buzz, but it IS very new...we don't know how it'll hold up.
For removable batteries, sorry, but I'm in the ProVari club - it actually vapes better than other tube mods, and I think it IS worth the extra money - but look on their Clearance page, or get approved for the Classifieds here - you can get one for like $125, it'll last forever, and if you move on to mechs or 100 watt boxes or something, you can sell and get all your money back!

I can't recommend the iStick at this point--especially to new vapers. It's lowest voltage output is 4.2v even though it has lower voltage settings--not for low wattage vapers. I'd wait for V2 and see if they fix that.
