I would be very surprised if this would have gotten cleared up this fast if it had not been publicized.

Really? At this point there is only awareness and 1 official response toward correction.
This will take time as each and every financial institute must make corrections and every Vender will need reclassification.

Vender that support both vaping and tobacco sales may find it difficult to get properly classified.

However, I have no doubt questions have been being and will continue to be asked about what is going on. Merchants are not IDIOTS - No sales = No business

I have to agree that because of the outcry and indignation of many, the bank may have seen that we will protest and fight. This only happened because there was ECF and other social outlets that let people tell others about what happened.

If people didn't have warnings that it wasn't an isolated incident, the bank could very well have continued to keep this policy in place. Then others may well have followed suit.

We have been too complacent and this is a huge wake up call. Now, more than ever, it is time to join groups, such as CASAA, and become part of the solution instead of waiting until the sky actually does start falling. With larger numbers, our voices carry a lot more weight.

Thank you to the OP for bringing this to our attention. Yes, I have to admit to a bit of panic. Sometimes that is a GOOD thing. It makes one aware of what really could happen. It's time to put on my boxing gloves and get ready to fight.

Never said Wyatt should not have Shared information. Education and Awareness is Vital for self preservation.

Simple stating there is a Vast Playing field between Undiscovered and PANIC.

Saying I smell smoke and asking if anyone else smells smoke is Quite different from Yelling FIRE in a crowded theater.
I have read excellent post bringing light to situations on ECF. I would not classify this thread among them.
The information was good, the delivery - not so much.

My thoughts include:
How can this be corrected?
How will businesses be effected?
How is the LAW written?
What avenues are available to Financial institutes?
Will they be held liable for non-compliance?

So many questions to be asked and so much silence.

I'll grant the delivery could have been a bit different. But the information was still valid. Knee jerk reactions are expected when we are all so very much on pins and needles in this climate of the unknown. It would be nice, in a way, to know what the powers that be (FDA) decide. With all the secret or last minute city councils rushing bans through....it's no wonder we panic a bit.

Could not agree more on the FDA issue. Seems they have decided to play hardball by refusing to make any decisions after creating Kaos .
They opened the door for every State and Local government to ASSUME - Ecig=Tobacco while not actually doing anything.

I have a feeling this is to ultimately make their final ruling easier by Claiming this is what the people want - after enough locals set regulations.:glare:

Gotcha Covered Wyatt! Ya done GOOD! WYATT DERP 2.jpg

See Wyatt - not 'everyone' thinks ya did a BAD thing!

"I would be very surprised if this would have gotten cleared up this fast if it had not been publicized."

"And I think the thread opened a lot of peoples' eyes to other related issues that are still unsolved."

"Nothing wrong with starting the thread, in fact, thank you."

"As I see it there are a couple of very GOOD things that come out of this thread."

"1. People experiencing denials on their credit cards now have some clue what is going on."

"2. We have had a wake up call as to what might very well be headed our way in the future. For many of us, if internet sales were shut down getting any of the stuff we need would become very difficult if not impossible for the simple reason that we do not have a B & M in anything resembling a decent drive. If this wake up call motivated even one vaper to join CASAA or to start planning their alternatives then I say it was well done to post it."

"Another +1 for Wyatt. Thanks for bringing this to our attention."

Awwwww heck Wyatt - some even criticize ya at one turn and then wind up agreeing with ya at the next turn! Funny thing is "the person" didn't even realize he/she did so! Score another for "Wyatt'!

"Really? At this point there is only awareness and 1 official response toward correction.
This will take time as each and every financial institute (sic) must make corrections and every Vender (sic) will need reclassification."

"Vender (sic) that support both Vaping and Tobacco sales may find it difficult to get properly classified."

"However, I have no doubt questions have been being and will continue to be asked about what is going on. Merchants are not IDIOTS - No sales = No business".

"Awareness" ... "official response" ... "questions have been .... and will continue to be asked about what is going on" ... "This will take time...". Might be worded another way: "Darn! I coulda been the first to report this situation! Why didn't it happen to "ME"?!

Pretty well sums it up:

"If people didn't have warnings that it wasn't an isolated incident, the bank could very well have continued to keep this policy in place. Then others may well have followed suit."

"We have been too complacent and this is a huge wake up call. Now, more than ever, it is time to join groups, such as CASAA, and become part of the solution instead of waiting until the sky actually does start falling. With larger numbers, our voices carry a lot more weight."

SEE WYATT ......... logical folks acknowledge your good intent and lack of malice! All is not lost! Ya done good son - ya done good!

Senility Central has spoken ........ Detractors exposed ....... White Hat and Silver Bullets to WYATT! Black Hats to those who don't believe his intent was GOOD!

Personally this thread should be deleted and close. Derp you created this mess it is the MERCHANT's fault for having the wrong code. It created a panic and did NOT wait until you had all the answers. Come on take a little responsibility here.

Are there concerns ABSOLUTELY...but this was not needed and you know darn well people do not read everything in a thread so it's a total mess and I personally think it was careless.

Had he known this was a problem with the merchant and started this thread, then I might agree with you. But he had no idea what the problem was or what the outcome would be. So starting the thread was an absolute necessity considering how the government is approaching the e-cig topic. *sarcasm on* The government is 100% for the people and would never try to pass something at a secret, midnight session. *sarcasm off* Are you saying that if your credit card were denied for making a vaping related purchase you would have sat back and send nothing to the community?!? Aren't we here to help each other?!? If you didn't like what this thread was about when did you even come in here and post anything?!? Just had to get your 2 cents in though. We all like to do that I suppose.

Had Wyatt not started this and created a video the bank would have thought nothing of it and would not have pursued a resolution. However, I still believe there is more to this. To suddenly start denying charges and state its because of PACT doesn't make sense. Nothing about PACT has changed in 3 years, so why start denying charges now?!?

Thank you Wyatt for the info you have provided!!

'WyattDerp" ......... obviously you had the best of intentions. Others indicated they had a similar experience both in your state and others; now, you are being made to look like an alarmist. You are being chastised for being concerned and taking the time to SHARE information which certainly appeared to be correct. I can imagine you feel a bit angry. In fact - I hope you are a bit angry! You did nothing wrong. You cared and your reported FACTS.

You can't win for losing in some instances. Regardless of what may be said about or to you I certainly hope positive comments far exceed the negative. Your intent was pure and suggesting you made some grave error is ludicrous.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR EFFORTS TO BRING THE MATTER TO THE ATTENTION OF THOSE WHO MIGHT BE IN THE SAME BOAT. FINE JOB SIR - FINE JOB. TO SAY OTHERWISE ABOUT YOUR INTENT IS BEYOND RIDICULOUS! YES, I AM SHOUTING; YOUR DETRACTORS ARE SIMPLY WRONG! I AM SHOCKED TO SEE SUCH COMMENTS BY 'VETERANS' WHO SHOULD BE ABLE TO SEE MALICE AND IRRESPONSIBILITY DO NOT APPLY! THIS INFIGHTING IS EXACTLY WHY MY LOCAL SHOP JOINED THE FORUM AND THEN WITHDREW.

Had this happened and you did not immediately report your experience but rather came along later and mentioned, "That happened to me a week ago" - I suspect you would have been chastised for not sharing your experience. "Duh" would be for a different reason and "irresponsible" would be used to make you appear uncaring.Infighting kills the dissemination of urgent information. A suggestion that the thread be deleted would draw harsh criticism and reports by others saying they experienced the same problem would do likewise. Those incapable of creating a YouTube video to share information with the masses would be THANKING YOU for doing so. Alas, that is not the case and the "stars" with massive post counts are flexing their muscles for the wrong reasons.

Speaking in a softer, kinder, far more gentle voice I bid you one final "thank you".

Senile Old Man Don ...... Senile, but not to such a degree I miss the obvious. Apply as you see fit.

I whole heartedly agree. I had to go back a few times to watch your video as I did not interpret any alarmist tactics nor did I see where you said 'the sky was falling' You told of an experience and you reported it well and I thank you. I almost went into alarmist mode and spent the night up ordering gallons of bad juice but instead chose to wait until morning and get all the facts. If I would have done that it would not have been your fault, it would have been mine for acting without all the facts.
Thank you for doing some honest to goodness reporting of something that might have affected us all.

Nothing wrong with starting the thread, in fact, thank you.

Vapers need to have a speed between "Problem? What?" and "OMG, the sky will hit the ground in 24 hours, I need to stock up for life RIGHT THIS MINUTE."

In between is letter-writing, making phone calls, talking to legislators, talking to family members and friends so as to educate the public. A few minutes a month.

As a for-instance, I've heard from quite a few people that if you take a group of 8-20 people at once to talk to a legislator it makes a huge difference compared to going alone. Yet except for statewide actions, we can hardly ever find even 2 people in the same district to go talk together about assorted "treat vaping like smoking" laws which can lead to outdoor bans, rental property bans, etc.

I've realized one reason I don't have enough local phone #'s is that, being kind of introverted, I don't go to the effort to collect cards and phone #'s from other concerned vapers I meet. I have been remiss. I will now designate a shoebox and a computer file to this effort as my New Year's resolution, so I can do a better job of helping out locally when another idiot ban comes up in a city or county near me.
EXCELLENT idea and that is what should be born of this thread. We need to be prepared to assemble and have our voices heard when need be. Get a committee in each state with people that can speak up. I can speak up and will speak up for something that literally SAVED MY LIFE.

Me? Nope. Simply said post was not presented properly. Agreed from the start information is a good thing. No turnarounds and know what I meant.

If someone is trying to make me feel not so smart................. I have a wife that does that just fine.:)

Excellent!! CASAA always needs more members, and we need more members to be CASAA members!

It takes about one minute to join...
Become a CASAA Member

And once you join you will get email alerts about legislative actions in your area, and what you can do to help.
