Urgent Notice: Albany Public Hearing a No-Go!

Urgent Notice: We have just learned that the public hearing on Local Law "G" for 2010 for Albany County is NOT actually scheduled for Tuesday July 27, as previously thought. Both the resolution calling for a public hearing on the proposed law, and the proposed law itself, are on the agenda to be considered by the Health Committee of the Albany County Legislature, at its committee meeting on Wednesday, July 28. They allow the public to attend, but not to speak, at committee meetings. If the committee decides to hold a public hearing on the proposed law, an actual date for it will be set , but we were informed it would definitely not be before sometime in August. We will report developments and details on this as soon as we learn them.

The Albany County proposal would not ban the sale or use of e-cigarette in the state of NY, but rather would ban the use of e-cigarettes in workplaces in Albany County

Therefore, the purpose of this law is to ban the sale of e-cigarettes and like products in Albany County to persons under the age of 18 and to prohibit the use of e-cigarettes and like products in public places where traditional forms of smoking are already disallowed.

Why can't the politician's just leave us alone? With the scandals of Paterson I think they have enough on their plates. If they restrict e-ciggs in NY I'm really gonna move. I'm just upset at Big Brother.

This one is just for Albany County. The NY State ban has been kind of put on hold for (probably) the rest of the year if it comes back at all. It was held in the health comm. and I don't think anyone is sure what's going to happen next with it. It may have to be re-introduced, I'm not sure.

I hate this damn state. However, I have have high cubicle walls, a spot tucked away in a corner, I'm on the other side of the floor from the rest of my department, I get maybe 1 face to face visitor a week....I think my passthrough can safely stay plugged in
