USACIG, Inc., the US-Based Manufacturer of The Electric Cigarette(TM), Ready for Global Distribution

So who are these knuckleheads? I poked around their site but I didn't see any where to actually order (not that I would) and just saw more false advertising.

example:
"Q. How long does each cigarette last?
A. USAcig cigarettes are equivalent to most tobacco filled cigarettes. This will, of course, depend on your smoking habits. Research has found that one of our smokeless cigarette cartridges last the equivalent of one pack of cigarettes. (In comparison to an individual cigarette, you will need to take anywhere between 14-17 puffs on the electric cigarette to feel satisfied. A traditional cigarette will burn down after 7-9 puffs.)"

"Q: Are smokeless cigarettes approved by the FDA?
A: The Alcohol and tobacco Trade Bureau (TTB) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) have formally stated that smokeless cigarettes are not a product that warrants the involvement or oversight of either government entity. The FDA notes that electric cigarettes do not fit the classification of products it governs. The TTB (tobacco and Taxation Bureau, formally the ATF, Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms) has formally determined that the TTB has no regulatory interest in the smokeless cigarette industry because it does not contain tobacco."

Someone hurry up and let the Judge know! Case Dismissed!

Seriously, we've got some pretty clever detectives on this board. Can someone check if this is a BT or BP owned company? I couldn't find anything about this company already posted here.

Well this company's website says they manufacture atomizers in the US! Interesting... mixed in among all of the BS.

Actually they say all hardware is manufactured in China. Then they say the attys and carts are US made, but they're not 2 piece cartomizer styles either.

The products page looks like it's ready to take orders but it doesn't. It was built on:
"Created Mon Apr 27 13:37:05 GMT-0700 (PDT) 2009"

Even thought the Q & A states the opposite, the article quotes:
There has been much speculation recently regarding electronic cigarette companies, with similar components, not being approved and even banned by the FDA. USACIG is working closely with FDA consultants, medical doctors and psychiatrists in designing the USACIG electric cigarettes and cigars, so the products meet the TTB and FDA regulations and provide an alternative to traditional smoking.
The company intends to provide the FDA with details of the fewer than 20 chemicals included in its cartridges. All products are individually approved and available in the market. The intent and long term goal is to put an end to the harmful primary and second hand smoking affects the some 4,000 carcinogens currently found in tobacco cigarettes give to smokers.

Perhaps they're waiting on Judge Leon. or to get approval by the FDA?

Curiouser and curiouser...

Q: How often will I have to refill my cartridge?
A: One cartridge will last the user about the same as 2 regular packs. Based on how frequently the smoker uses TEC cartridges will have to be refilled.

We should report them to the ECA (taken from the ECA Misson Statement)
The association was founded to institute and promote industry-wide standards and a code of conduct, work to maintain sound professional practices, educate the public and policy-makers on the industry’s activities and potential, and ensure the ethical use of electronic cigarette technologies.

Maybe THIS is what they do?

The who? What? When?

The who anyway
TTBGov

EDIT: Sent an e-mail to usacig asking for a citation that supports the statement on their site regarding the FDA and TTB

"...have formally stated that smokeless cigarettes are not a product that warrants the involvement or oversight of either government entity. The FDA notes that electric cigarettes do not fit the classification of products it governs. The TTB (Tobacco and Taxation Bureau, formally the ATF, Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms) has formally determined that the TTB has no regulatory interest in the smokeless cigarette industry because it does not contain tobacco.

It feels like this is a conscious effort to degrade the industry. Seriously, who willingly writes this stuff:

"Q: Are there health benefits to TEC?
A: Yes.
For yourself, there is no harmful tobacco or tar entering your body. For others, there is no second-hand smoke. Also, TEC will in fact help you quit smoking all together.

Q: What are my Electric Cigarette smoking options?
A: TEC comes in an array of flavors all at different dosages. So whether you feel like the chocolate flavor one day, coffee the next, or just the regular, smokers have a variety to choose from."

...and then puts up press releases all in one day (today, the 26th) without even having a cart/checkout system on the site??

"Healthier? Yes" "Quit smoking all together" "Array of flavors" "Different dosages" It's like they're TRYING to score points against us and for the FDA.

Is this for real?

I'm pretty sure it is not for real. A real corp leaves a MUCH wider swath on the internet when they file and set up shop.

My guess is it is an individual wanting to cash in on e-gold.

That or Banzaf ;)

I was thinking the same thing. Looks like a "set up" shop to "prove" ASHs allogations.

"See your Honor, I told you they sold to kids with their flavors and it says it will help you quit smoking!"

And with the domain registered through a proxy registrant, it makes it even more suspect.

Found nothing on the TTB site when I searched for "electronic cigarette" and "electric cigarette" - besides, it's the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau division of the US Department of the Treasury. The only thing with the remotest possibility of being related to PVs is 27 CFR Part 41, Importation of Tobacco Products and Cigarette Papers and Tubes. I followed that link to a list of kazillion requirements, but the entire page contained to reference to "electronic cigarette" or "electric cigarette".

This USACig bears watching!

Oh yeah, I agree with whomever said ECA should contact them!
