But my point is apparently with USPS it takes the same amount of time regardless and I save $4. Smokless Image Rocks!!! USPS not so much... YMMV
Don't bank on it! I ordered some juice from VapeDudes who're based in TX. I'm cheap so of course I chose 1st class. 9 days later I was getting ...... at VD "where's the stuff man" lol. Then I checked the tracking. VD got the package out 3 days after I ordered (not bad considering their stuff is all hand made, and was ordered over the holiday weekend also). The package sat in the post office in TX or 3 days (from time of arrival scan to departure scan)! I don't know if Priority Shipping would have been much better coming from TX, but I would sure to God hope a priority package wouldnt sit for 3 days before being processed!

I'd say that's a damn fine question. Seems from other posts it's luck of the draw (what's that old saying, location location location). Have you gotten priority shipping from SI before? If so, Post again when this order is received. I'd love to know the answer!

the thing is,,,is i don't get in any big hurry to go to the post office,,,,some times they lay down there 3 or 4 days before i go and pick them up.
i no longer get worked up on my orders showing up,,the novelty of it all is gone for me and i just take things in stride,,no big deal.

So, unlike me, you don't look like Ralphie running home for his decoder-pin after every order LMFAO!

I had a group mail box at the corner which is like a quarter of a mile away. Sure, I should walk down there and get my mail but I hated it. I would only check the mail maybe twice a week. My neighbor talked to the mail lady who said "Sure, put up a mail box. I go right by there every day anyway."

I ran down to the home improvement store and installed it that very week. Now I just have to walk to the front gate and I check the mail every day.

we don't have mail delivery,i live on a private road and all the boxes are down on the hyway exactly 1 mile from my driveway,i don't trust people and kids going through the boxes,,,,so i got a p.o. box about 8.5 years ago.
its a pain,but i live with it.

My 1st class order was placed late on a Monday night, shipped Tuesday, delivered Saturday. Now, I can't speak for how fast you make it to the post office to pick it up. :p

On a side note, I am waiting on a new e reader and FedEx tracking sucks! Only updating every day and a half, EDD of today, but there is no "out for delivery" stamp on the tracking. Just an arrival at the not-so-local office, but I think it is the office that handles the residential deliveries for this area. Must wait and see if it arrives, but I have to go to bed. :(

I only pay extra for priority in rare instances. That is with large packages that can be damaged. If you go with first class it's not exactly first class anything. It gets tossed around and placed in the same bins with junk mail. Yes they might very well end up on the same trucks, but they are not handled in the same manner.

I have shipped thousands and thousands of items over the years. My general opinion is that if it requires special care then send it priority and with insurance. If not first class is fine.

They kick and miss Handel ALL MAIL priority doesn't get any thing special it gets the same beating you only pay more for the beating spend your $$$$ they way you like but first class rides with priority mail this is a FACT..... Good luck happy vaping from a USPS employee LOL

I was told the very same thing by my Mail Lady which is why I decided to go with 1st class. Like I said in the OP it followed the same route through the same sorting facilities and arrived in the same amount of time, 3 days. The difference being $4 of my money, nothing else. I'm sure you will find the same thing with UPS and FedX unless of course you go with overnight or 2nd day air. It's just a ploy to get more money for the same service and the amount of people that believe it is different only speaks well of the selling job the USPS has done. Thanks for your honest comment...

Minor Details
As a current letter carrier, the main difference between priority and first class is not the speed of delivery but what can be shipped for the same cost. First-class mail is limited to items under 13 ounces in weight. Any more than that you now have to use a parcel service to mail it. So now your choice is Parcel Post, Media Mail, or Priority. Parcel Post can take a long time, media mail is subject to inspection and you can get in trouble for mailing non media items at media mail rates. Priority mail, especially the flat rate boxes, allow you to mail anything that fits in a flat-rate box and weighs 70lbs! or less for the one price. There's the benefit of priority. Also, technically, first class is quoted as a 2-5 day delivery window, priority is quoted as 2-3 days, no guarantees of course.

Just remember it's the empty suits with the big titles and political connections that run the place and set policies. My mail Lady has been delivering the mail here for 26 years and you can set your watch by her. She drops off my mail same time everyday and even brings it to the door if it's priority or 1st class and my mail box is a 1/2 mile away down the side of the mountain. The UPS flunky won't even come up my driveway, I have to go to the post office and pick up anything that ships UPS or FedX to my house.

All we need to do to fix the USPS is privatize it and let a real business mind run it.
