@FinchX - I have never had any issues with the tank but wanted to understand what you learned. Are you saying your sole issue was poor priming technique or was it bad coils or both? Just want to avoid ordering from suppliers that may be shipping out inferior coils for the Crown.

... but yes, I really enjoy that guy's reviews. Uwell sends him things, but from what I watched a lot of his reviews he's done with hardware he purchased out of pocket, so you know things aren't going to lean one way or another... LOL

I watched his follow-up review on the Boxer Mod.
Some of the things he said in his original review ...... off GingerVaper but he stuck by what he originally said. He seems like an honest reviewer.

Never mind, I was thinking of someone else.
I did watch one of his reviews though. He seems thorough.

Well here I am again, my Black Crown is out for delivery, never before have I been so anxious, I already have it in my head that its going to gurgle on me again like they all do, I don't hold out much hope. I have a relationship with the Crown like Grimm has with the TFV4, my nemesis tank. :(

Don't be too anxious. Follow the video. When I get mine I intend to fill it & let it sit overnight.

The trouble with the video is I don't agree with priming these coils through the top of the coil or any vertical coil for that matter, there is just no need, fill, let it sit for an hour, primer pulls, 45w vape and then build up.
In theory after watching that video, he should of flooded the hell out of it doing it like that, you just can't do that with vertical coils. I have been using vertical coils for a long time, priming them from the top will do more harm than good, take the Subtank Mini for example, your going to get flooding priming those coils by dripping juice on the top of the coil, same with the TFV4 quad, same with the Starre, the list goes on.

Here's one thing I'm really interested in - I've recently ordered the Uwell Crown subtank (black version), and I'm planning to use it on my IPV D2. Until now I've been using Kanger Subtank Mini in temp control (with prebuilt OCC Ni200 coils). I've figured out that most satisfying vape for me is at 30J / 390F. I was also used to 20-25W in power mode. Now I'm really curious about the Crown. Some people say that the vape on it is not as satisfying at 30W and they go 70W+ (in power mode). I'm planning to use it in TC mode on my IPV D2, but I can't imagine going over 40J. I like just a slightly warm vape and with my 6mg juice it hits just enough at 30-35J/390F (I usually take just 4-5 puffs, I don't chain vape much). Upping it just gives me a nicotine buzz.

Do you think that I'll have to step up in joules / wattage on Crown?

The Kanger Subtank OCC Ni200 coils are 0.15 Ohm, which is the same as the Ni200 included with Crown - but these are dual coil.

I've seen that people use lower wattages (around 30-40W) just to break-in the coils. What do you think could be the lowest, still satisfying settings that I could use on this tank?

Of course I wish you the best, regardless of which method you choose however none of those other coils for the other toppers are built like this head. I could certainly be wrong. As I previously said:

"The other thing to remember on these heads is that they are composed of dozens of tiny squares of organic cotton sandwiched all around the coils. Their is a youtube vid that shows the reviewer taking it apart. The small squares also appear not to be "fluffy". This is of course is a two edged sword, great flavor and clouds and also way more requiring to properly prime, break in, and sit. BTW, in the vid, he tilts the head so he only primes the outside cotton around the coil as opposed to the other guy who primes inside the coil which is a no no. Just takes longer the correct way."

Good luck and keep us posted. :)

Edit: Great looking pic.

Yup, I can see how much cotton is in there and your right, I ended up priming it from the top in this case...so while most verticals don't require it, looks like this one does. Thanks and I will be sure to let everyone know, might even do a lap of honor around the garden if it doesn't gurgle, that's all I ask hahaha...

pretty.... :)

How does this tank and your TFV4 work on the Hexohm? That mod is a parallel mech right?

Hi, no, its in series and is a regulated box mod, 20 Amp max, basically it has a percentage meter, Zero is 3.3v and 100 is 6v

Every 10% on the Hex Ohm percentage dial is 0.27v on top of 3.3v, this is where a ohm calculator is needed

For the TFV4 on the 0.4ohm sextuple (triple parallel) its...

0.27 x 9 (90%) = 2.43v + 3.3v = 5.7v , so at 90% on the percentage meter I know Im running it at 5.7v / 81w and 14.4 Amps

The crown on the 0.25ohm will be good at 40% that gives me 4.3v / 73w and 17.2 Amps

Hope that helps :)

Starting the Crown off at Zero, so 3.3v / 43w

Hense me asking how this tank AND your TFV4 work... :) For some reason i thought the hex's were mechs... Huh. I want one even more now. it does look like a nice setup.
Ah, well I did think you must of knew is was the Crown but it was just how it was worded

Yeah they are awesome, I love mine so much. I had to have matching blue transparent glass on the tank, which its just a plastic film I put on it but it works well..

By the way, Im up at 50w and no gurgling, never before have I took so much care and effort to prime a coil and break it in. So far so good

is your box V1 or V2? I blame you, but im searching the bay and such looking for one now. Found one, but just above the potentiometer it has a volt meter display... Thnking thats a clone... Or perhaps Ill just build an OKTR box... Hmm Decisions decisions.

Where did you get the film to put over the glass? I could use that for a totally seperate project of mine.

Its neither, the V1 and V2 use hammond boxes, this is the HexOhm 2.1, far far better that uses machined billet aluminum for the box and has reverse polarity protection., they are made by Craving Vapor but because I live in the UK, I got mine from evolution vaping.

The film I got off ebay, just put in glass tint. I bought a A4 size sheet for like £1.99

And yeah, anything with a display is a clone, this has no display at all.

Learning. I appreciate it.

Your Welcome.. Another pic of the inside, very neat and well made.

I have sold all of my other box mods now, there not for everyone but I love mine a lot.

You also get a life time warranty

Well, up to 81w and this is hitting great, no gurgling, no flooding of any kind, it's taken me a while but I guess I just needed to be patient ans it's paid off, no dry hits and the flavor is coming through nicely, very nice actually. To early to compare it the TFV4, need to vape a few tanks first.
Im just so pleased it works, I will say, its a more satisfying vape than the TFV4, I can't quite put my finger on it yet but it just is.

EDIT - The TFV4 should be better but it's not, the Crown is picking out the koolada in my juice that the TFV4 doesn't, also I get more peach tones, it is certainly a richer vape if that makes sense. I am really happy with how this tank is performing, I always new it was good and that's why I stuck at it.. so much so I have just cancelled my pre order on the Black TFV4, I see no need to get one now I have this.
Thanks to everyone over, well a pretty long drawn out time, for your help.
