Better than the crown? The crown is my favorite tank, but only for 3-5 days at a time. Then my coils burn out.

I've had the Crown for about a week now, and really love it.

However.... after about 4 days, I started to get a burnt taste... I had gone to a B & M, and purchased new juice, and the salesperson asked me if I wanted him to clear out the tank and change my juice for me. I said sure, and he took my Crown to a back room, returning with it cleaned, and filled with a new liquid.

After vapping on it, I would get a burnt taste that I hadn't gotten before! I wondered if perhaps he had done something.

I ended up replacing my .25ohm coil with a new .25ohm coil, and again got wonderful flavor and tons of vapor!

It's now been three days, and AGAIN I'm getting a burnt taste!

Anyone have suggestions? I've read people getting three weeks, and even a month on these coils... if I don't get that, I'd expect to at least get a week, ten days!

I'm using 30/70 PG/VG, if that matters.

Perhaps you need to read the posts on how to properly prime and break in these coils.

    @tommy
As I posted, I DID prime it completely, following the video that shows you how he feels it should be primed... I took 20 minutes priming it. It also worked GREAT for three days, so I don't know how, even if I had not primed it correctly, it would work fine (in fact, great) for a full three days and THEN start to give me burnt hits!

Anyways, I guess nobody has any suggestions. I have read in going through this and other threads that someone said there are some bad coils going around, but I'm not sure if this is due to that problem.

I've been using three Crowns for several months. I vape around 30ml/day, and I generally get around 3 or 4 days out of a coil.

Maybe my expectations are too high!

I vape perhaps 20ml a day, and I've been getting three days out of a coil.

If I purchase a 4 pack for $12.00 (cheapest I've found 'em), that works out to $3 per coil. I get 3 days out of it, so I'm spending a $1 a day on coils. Compared to spending $6-7 on cigs, even when you add in the cost of juice, it's still very reasonable, and frankly, cost savings isn't my main reason for vapping.

However, compared to what I would get out of a Sub Tank coil, or a Silo Beast coil, where I got 10 days to 2 weeks, these just seem to really go bad very quickly.

The flavor during those three days is fantastic, but again, I have read of people getting much longer times with their coils....

    Thanks for your info!

I know how to prime and break it in slow. I am on my second tank before i even get to 45w with the .5ohm coil. The last pack of coils i had are TRASH. It does not wick (unless you poke holes in it, and i dont feel like i should have to do that). No wicking = Dry hit Dont feel like you are the only one having problems with these. Bty they were great. Been running this tank for months with no problems but the carts now are s%@#@.

Code3Vapor was recently selling coils for $6 shipped, so I loaded up. This is the first tank I have ever preferred the OCC coils over coils I make, so even if they only last 3 days I can live with that - and, as you say, even at $1/day that's not too bad. I think people that are getting weeks out of them are either a) rotating tanks, so the coils don't get as hot, or b) only putting 5mls a day through the coils. I have tried making them last a week, but on taking one apart I could see why it tasted so nasty! I've also tried cleaning them (boiling then UC), but I only get maybe one more tank out of them. I took one of those apart, and I could see why that wasn't working. I suspect the SS against the very tightly packed cotton builds up a lot of crud that can't be removed and then the cotton does seem to burn.

.... Kickers suggested starting at a low wattage and bumping that up in 5 watt increments over 2 days. He said then they'll last 3 weeks. I am on the 1st .25 coil I have tried this on and it's only been about 4 days. I also rotate 2 RDAs and 2 RTAs.

Look down into the center of the coil.
If it's gunky then it's shot.
If it's still clean-ish then poke holes and vape on. repeat as necessary until gunky.

I even zapped the crust off one, scraped it with a dental paddle, rinsed with plain VG & scraped it again so I could finish off that bottle of gunky juice. It wasn't the purest vape I've had but after a few hits the vape got better enough to finish the remaining 15ml or so.

Only 15 coils to go before I can buy some verified gen-you-wine Crown coils. Freaking sales

Bumping it up over two days seems odd to me - he's saying wait two whole days to get to that perfect vape? I do bump it up 10 watts at a time with a few pulls at each one, and I prime extremely carefully. It's partially my vaping style and also the amount I vape per day! When people say a coil will last three weeks, that's pretty meaningless to me without knowing how many mls are involved!

    I have two running atm 0.5 on SxMiniM 39J 450 F Vanilla Custard 12ml daily, 0.25 on 50W iStick @ 50W Peppermint 8mg per day.

Both are about 4 weeks old and still running well, both are from original kits and are Genuine Uwell.
I just prime them as per the instructions that came with the kit, that is drip juice all around the top until I can see juice at the holes insert into tank fill leave for about 10 min and vape.

Really can't see why some people are having problems, perhaps None genuine or a bad batch as suggested, also type of juice used excessive heat input.

Nothing wrong with Stainless at all, I have not or intend to use Ni so can't comment on that.
One thing is for sure I am more than satisfied with these Uwell Crowns, easy to fill no leaking and built to last.

hmm..do air bubbles come out in the tank after each hit?

i dismantled my whole crown last night..i guess twisting it on too tight might affect the vacuum inside..which really ruins the wicking process
